What is the best firearm for self-defense on a sailboat in case of a piracy attack? As long as the weapon is legal to possess where you are: Handgun: Best for minimal space to stow &. But worst for accuracy and stopping power. I would most recommend a Stainless Steel .38/.357 revolver or something like a Glock 19 in 9mm. Semi-Auto Rifle: Best for accurate over long ranger & penetration. But worst for legality likelihood to possess or size to stow. For this I'd recommend a reliable AR15 that is corrosion resistant, or a Ruger Mini 14 in stainless steel. Shotgun: Best for single shot firepower & likelihood of hitting in difficult conditions. But worst for it's large and bulky size. I would recommend a Mossberg Mariner or what I used in this video is a much cheaper alternative "Citadel Mariner". Lights, Medicine Chest, Jump roping, Savannah, Propane, Dancing We travel up to Savannah to enjoy the holiday sights. The River walk and squares are becoming decorated for the upcoming holiday season. Even the Georgia Queen is donned in garlands and red bows as she makes her way up the river. The medicine chest floor in the owner’s cabin over the years had begun to sag. Using a small hydraulic jack Steve was able to boost it up so it is once again straight. He also added some additional wood and a fake wall which hides the wires running through the cabinet. It really dressed it up and Karen is excited about using it again. Putting up holiday lights all around Isabella’s deck and eating a festive turkey dinner is how we’re getting the season off to a jolly start. Of course following that yummy dinner, going to the gym and jump roping was the next activity. In the last episode you all saw us remove one of the horizontal 20 pound propane tanks that was on board. It had a bit too much rust. This time it was replaced with a new 11 pound propane tank which sits upright next to the remaining 20 pound tank in the port side lazarette. Nous quittons La Corogne avec une seule fenêtre météo possible : passer juste derrière une dépression, avec 5 mètres de houle et un coup de vent annoncé le lendemain. Pas vraiment le choix… on doit boucler le convoyage et rejoindre les Sables d’Olonne. Quelques heures après le départ, un grain nous surprend : 29 nœuds. On réduit, on enroule, on tient bon. Heureusement, le gros coup de vent annoncé dans la nuit fera finalement « seulement » 26–27 nœuds, sans rafales. Le Golfe de Gascogne est vide, personne à l’horizon durant toute la traversée. Dernière nuit : en plein quart, je découvre le mystérieux plateau de Rochebonne et ses dizaines d’épaves sur la carte… ambiance mystique au milieu de l’Atlantique. Et puis enfin : le chenal des Sables d’Olonne, on vit la même image que les skippers du Vendée Globe ! On boucle un périple de 1840 milles nautiques et, symboliquement, la fin de notre formation à la navigation. On se sent prêts. À 19 ans, on quittait nos pays pour immigrer en Suisse sans un sou. En 2014, on quittait nos jobs pour un tour du monde en voilier sans expérience. Aujourd'hui, on plaque tout à nouveau : plus de bateau, plus de maison, juste une valise chacun. Mais cette fois, les règles du jeu ont changé. La mission : faire cohabiter un jeune retraité (Ivo) qui rêve de "zéro emmerde" avec une pré-retraitée hyperactive (Dajana) qui DOIT gagner sa vie. Avec nos 16 ans d'écart et nos objectifs diamétralement opposés, notre couple, formé en 2014 pour la grande aventure du voilier, risque de connaître quelques tempêtes... à terre ! Mudar de rota não é fracasso – é às vezes a única forma de chegar vivo (e inteiro) no objetivo. Nesse episódio eu saio com o Balanço com um plano bem definido, uma meta clara na cabeça… e vou sendo obrigado, pouco a pouco, a admitir que a realidade do mar, da correnteza e da cabeça não está nem aí pro meu cronograma. A bordo, teimosia vira risco rápido: correnteza forte, frente fria mudando, horário apertando, cansaço somando. Eu queria seguir o plano original a qualquer custo, mas acabo descobrindo na prática a diferença entre desistir de um sonho e ajustar a rota para continuar fiel a ele. Usando a navegação na Baía de Todos os Santos como metáfora, reflito sobre metas, autocobrança, maturidade e esse equilíbrio difícil entre perseverar e saber a hora de dizer “hoje não”. We bought ourselves a Land Rover Defender and set off inland on our very own safari adventure. But what was meant to be a dream side-trip, quickly became the beginning of a chain of events that would test us more than we ever expected. Events that continually plague our journey It first begun with constant car troubles… and ended with a complete engine failure in the middle of the desert.One tow-truck ride, a weekend sleeping in a shed, and two long weeks waiting for a replacement engine later, we were finally back on the road driving 2,000 kilometres toward the life we know best: Sailing, and our floating home, Nandji 2. We have always sailed with our dog but Travelling with animals adds a layer of complexity, therefore our hound dog Marley has been living it up at a doggy resort while we’ve been away. We couldn’t wait to get back to him. But as we reached the border into South Africa, we were hit with another curveball. Even though we had been out of the country for months, immigration granted us only seven days and advised we must fly home.
