In this episode Trio Travels along with some of our best friends as crew transits the Panama Canal from the Caribbean to the Pacific. We transit the first lock in the dark and with a 38' monohull sailboat tied to our side and we spend the night in Gatun Lake tide up to a huge floating cement mooring ball. Ben explains how a laser level has been used during the process of fixing floors and frames for the build of John Alden's schooner design, Malabar IV. The second part of the film shows Sam Langhout and Corin Nelson-Smith (volunteers) making a pattern for a laminated frame, using the loft floor to make a pattern, transferring that onto the timber and then the process of 'lamination' to build this type of frame, which you also see being fitted. Os contamos día a día cómo fue nuestra Travesía del Triángulo de las Bermudas a las Islas de Azores. Esta fue al final nuestra segundo cruce del Atlántico a bordo de La Sonámbula. Qué miedo pasamos casi al llegar a Azores. Si la haces, es toda una experiencia de miles de delfines, y ballenas por las Azores (en el siguiente video lo veréis). Qué miedo el saber que estás navegando por el famoso Triángulo de las Bermudas!!!

After a number of very light wind or extremely strong wind race days so far in the Australian 18 Footers League’s 2025-26 season on Sydney Harbour, today’s Race 6 of the League’s Club Championship was finally expected to produce a more traditional 15-knot North East wind - perfect weather for 18ft skiff racing conditions. That was the expectation, but sadly the ongoing weather situation became even worse than the other race days and the racing was abandoned after the first lap of the three-lap North East course when the wind turned to the west and freshened well beyond the fleet’s ability to continue with their big #1 rigs. Obviously, the point scores remain as they were with Yandoo leading on a total of 20 points. Balmain is in 2nd place with a total of 25, followed by Rag & Famish Hotel and Sixt, equal in 3rd place on 26 points. Other points in the top-10 are, Lazarus Capital Partners and Smeg on 35, Club Marine 36, Shaw and Partners Financial Services 46, Sotheby’s Ballard Property 47 and Fisher & Paykel on 54 points. Prior to the race being abandoned, the race to the weather mark at the Beashel Buoy was close with the consistent Balmain team, led by Henry Larkings, in the early lead from Yandoo (Micah Lane), Sixt (Michael Coxon) and Killer Coffee Co (Steve Thomas). In mid-November of 2024, a 42-foot catamaran, Qori Inti (Golden Sun) was found capsized 60 miles off the coast of Georgia, the crew Dave and Charlie, both experienced sailors were missing and never found. As “Moments in Time” cross these very waters in very rough conditions, we pay honor to Dave and Charlie with two shots of rum, one shot for the sea and skipper and crew of Quri Inti, and one for “Moments in Time”. The rough seas soon laid down.
