With Nico Lunven finishing sixth on Friday evening Vendée Globe, Thomas Ruyant, Justine Mettraux and Sam Goodchild all finished on Saturday. We bring you finish highlights and dockside comments from Nico, Justine and Sam. On the water we bring you updates from Boris Herrmann as he prepares for a massive North Atlantic storm, Jingkun Xu who has to climb the mast, and Conrad Colman who plugs a leak. We then look at the Tracker, Leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for Sam Davies as she makes her way north into the huge storm, which looks set to throw winds of over 50 knots across the Bay of Biscay. We conclude with an update from Kojiro Shiraishi as he approaches the Equator. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing
In this video we take a deep dive into the Highfield 560 Sport and discuss how for some people this could be the boat that does everything for you. Toy behind your 4X4, keep at your dock or use as a tender this aluminium hull RIB is a solid little thing that really punches above her weight in many different situations. From mounting your fishing gear to ferrying passengers to and from shore this design seems to work well in a range of conditions considering her size and you could argue that the return on investment or the FUN per litre of petrol you get on this thing is quite high! It was a challenge dlying my drone on such a small boat but i enjoyed it so please jump in the comments if you want to see more boats in this size range as i'm particularly interested in what Highfield seem to be up to with their designs and quality control processes. Hope this helps you on your journey! Are Force Outboard Motors Any Good? A Comprehensive Analysis Force outboard motors have a reputation that sparks curiosity and debate among boaters. Known for their affordability and simple design, these engines were once a popular choice for budget-conscious enthusiasts. But with their production ending in 1999 and their resale value lagging behind competitors, are they worth considering today? 00:42 - History & Background of Force Outboardrs ( who makes force outboard motors) 01:25 - Design, Technology, and Performance 02:12 - Force Outboardrs Reliability 03:13 - Cost and Resale Value 03:39 - Availability of Spare Parts 04:02 - Who Should Consider a Force Motor? 04:53 - Conclusion In this video, we dive deep into the history, design, technology, and performance of Force outboards. From their origins in the 1960s under Chrysler Marine to their eventual rebranding by US Marine and integration into Mercury Marine, we trace the evolution of these motors and what sets them apart. We'll discuss their reliability, cost, availability of spare parts, and who might benefit from owning one. While some see Force motors as outdated and unreliable, others swear by their durability—provided they’re maintained properly. With a focus on affordability, these engines offered simplicity that appealed to DIY enthusiasts. However, their performance and efficiency often fell short compared to more modern brands. Are Force outboards a hidden gem or a risky investment? That depends on your needs, budget, and willingness to perform regular maintenance. Join us as we explore whether Force outboards deserve their mixed reputation. Have experience with a Force outboard? Share your story in the comments! Your insights can guide others as they decide whether these motors are a bargain or a headache. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell for more in-depth analyses. Your next chapter starts today. Get 10% off your first month of BetterHelp online therapy: https://betterhelp.com/Atticus. (Sponsored by BetterHelp) For the past 12 weeks we’ve travelled hundreds of miles across 4 states and visited a dozen small mountain towns in search of the ideal place to build our mountain homestead. And this week we finally reveal where in this beautiful part of the country, we’re going to call home. But that’s only the beginning because we’ve still got to find and buy our dream property. And with Desiree’s due date right around the corner, we need to act fast. So this week we tour a bunch of potential properties and we find one in particular that we really fall in love with. And we see if we can find a property within our budget or if we’ll have to go back to square one. After an overnight sail, we've arrived at this stunning island in the Great Barrier Reef—one of the most beautiful, remote places we've ever experienced. We’re diving into crystal-clear waters, surrounded by amazing marine life, including turtles, rays, and even manta rays! The Mangusta Oceano 44, showcased at FLIBS 2024, is a masterpiece of elegance and innovation. Built in Italy by Overmarine, this tri-deck superyacht stands out for its cutting-edge design, spacious interiors, and outstanding performance, redefining the concept of luxury on the open sea. Hall 15 at boot Düsseldorf has some really interesting small boats, so Mark Jardine took a look around to see what he could find. We start with the Pegasus, a single person electric foiler with a fuselage like a vintage Formula One car, and would really stand out at one of the Italian Lakes, such as Garda or Como. We then moved on to the Birdyfish, two-handed foiling dinghy, which looks like a cross between a Fireball dinghy and an IMOCA keelboat, complete with jib and code zero headsails. If you're short of storage space, the Tiwal range of dinghies could be the thing for you. Inflatable hulls mean that the boat can be kept in a pair of bags, rather than taking up a dinghy park space. Or if ownership is out of reach, the the day charter option for the RS AIRA dayboat could suit you. The boat has plenty of socialising space and an electric engine, and the charter model makes it very interesting for getting people into sailing. We then take a look at a Class Mini, which is the starting option for many of the stars of the offshore solo sailing world, including the Vendée Globe. The Mini at boot had a very distinct scow bow, which has become more and more popular over the past decade. The Ovington Boats stand included Matt Wearn's gold medal winning ILCA from Paris 2024, a K1 dinghy, a 29er, and both the VX One and VX Two on it. We finish up with Projekt Vela, which sees teams of students race in boats they have designed and built themselves, using 75% sustainable or natural materials.
Wow what happened here was totally incredible! The story of the supposed lone survivor is captivating, as are the many stories of sunken ships, tidal waves, sudden pyroclastic flow, 'mental asylum' and many other uncovered ruins. One of the most interesting, jaw dropping, heart breaking places we have visited so far. The beautiful, and now once again thriving, town of Saint Pierre is situated in the French island of Martinique and is full of history, strength and beauty. ___________________________ Our Patreon: We hope you join us on Team Nova/Coco at our Patreon page! The America's Cup world, and that of British sailing, was left shaken after the news that INEOS Britannia had parted ways with its Principle, CEO and Skipper Sir Ben Ainslie, the greatest Olympic sailor of all time. On the surface, their 37th America's Cup was a success, winning the Louis Vuitton Cup and taking two races off Emirates Team New Zealand in the America's Cup match, making it the most successful British America's Cup campaign for 90 years.
