Herrlichster Sonnenschein bei der Pfingstregatta 2026 von Rostock nach Kühlungsborn. Der Wind ließ zwischenzeitlich etwas nach, trotzdem kamen die meisten der ca. 50 Segelyachten rechtzeitig ins Ziel, um bei Siegerehrung und Feuerwerk den Tag im Yachthafen Kühlungsborn ausklingen zu lassen. Auch am folgenden Sonntag wurde gesegelt, dazu später hier mehr. Danke an die Veranstalter und Helfer der Segelvereine aus Rostock und Kühlungsborn.

While the first event of the 38th America's Cup cycle was eagerly awaited, no one dared hope that it would be this good. But over five days the Sardinian town of Cagliari delivered a superb event culminating in a final day that few, if anyone, had anticipated. Matt Sheahan was there and reports on a day of action in Luna Rossa's home town.

A mini adventure. We tested our Highfield Classic 290 Rib with our Epropulsion Spirit 1 by going from Gallows Point (Beaumaris) to Menai Bridge for a takeaway. Then we went under the Menai Bridge, through the Swellies, under the Britannia Bridge to the statue of Lord Nelson. We got back under the Britannia Bridge and about halfway through the Swellies before we had to tie up to a tree and wait for slack water. After a wait I rowed up the eddies to the Menai Bridge, from there we were able to gently motor out of the tidal stream all the way back. We used about 3/4 of both batteries.

We anchored the Alaskan Gypsy near an old trailhead outside of Wrangell, Alaska and set off by paddleboard to explore a place neither of us had ever been before. What started as a simple morning hike turned into an incredible journey through Southeast Alaska rainforest, abandoned mill history, raging glacier-fed water, edible plants, and a stunning hidden mountain lake. Along the way we share what safety gear we bring for remote Alaska adventures, why paddleboards work so well for beach access from a sailboat, and some of the realities of wilderness travel in bear country. We also explore remnants of an old sawmill deep in the Tongass National Forest and forage fiddleheads and medicinal Devil’s Club shoots along the trail. This easy hike near Wrangell turned out to be one of the most beautiful hidden spots we’ve explored so far in Southeast Alaska. After a long Arctic winter in Finnsnes, it is finally time to slip the lines and begin a new sailing season in Northern Norway. In this episode, we say goodbye to the small winter community that formed around the harbour, leave Finnsnes behind, and head south along the spectacular Norwegian coast. Spring has arrived early in Arctic Norway: the snow is melting, the days are growing longer, and the familiar feeling of movement returns. We are now in Week 8 of our refit in the boatyard and we're halfway through a complete paint job of our 47 foot hulls. Last week we shared this secret project that we've been working on in the background, and now we're getting really stuck into all the preparations that come before adding paint. We have to remove our bootstripe and the pinstripes before sanding the whole boat and repairing any damage with fairing compound and eventually we'll add some primer. ⚓ Ist das aktuell einer der besten Marine LiFePO4 Akkus am Markt? Ich teste den Humsienk 640Ah Smart Edition Akku auf meiner Segelyacht Scirocco — und das Ergebnis hat mich ehrlich überrascht. Nach einem vollständigen Kapazitätstest konnte ich unglaubliche 672Ah entnehmen, bevor das BMS abgeschaltet hat. Damit liefert der Akku sogar mehr Kapazität als angegeben. Anschließend habe ich den Akku geöffnet und mir das Innenleben genauer angesehen: ✔ Smart BMS ✔ Verarbeitung & Verkabelung ✔ Sicherheitsfunktionen ✔ Temperaturabschaltung ✔ Low Temperature Protection Test ✔ Praxistest fürs Segelboot Außerdem teste ich direkt am offenen Akku, ob die Temperaturabschaltung des BMS tatsächlich funktioniert und wie sich der Akku bei Minusgraden verhält. Der Akku soll später dauerhaft auf meiner Beneteau First 375 „Scirocco“ eingesetzt werden. Deshalb interessieren mich vor allem Sicherheit, Zuverlässigkeit und echte Praxistauglichkeit an Bord. Our friends Ed and Scarlett on their beautiful Fontaine Pajot Elba 45 had to put in fuel after leaving Corfu, which gave us a head start to get to Sivota. They're much faster than us, but were they fast enough to make up for the lost time refueling???

I det här avsnittet möts direkt av tropisk hetta i Panama, dagliga skyfall och åska som känns allt annat än trygg. Tre gånger slår blixten ner bara omkring 100 meter från båten, vilket får oss att inse hur utsatta vi faktiskt är inför Stilla havet. Vi bygger en egen åskledare och djupdyker i olika teorier kring blixtskydd ombord. Vad händer egentligen om båten träffas? Varför måste ofta all elektronik bytas även om båten ser oskadd ut? Och vad har vi själva valt att satsa på inför den kommande seglingen? Vi upptäcker också Panama City, en stad med extrema kontraster där det ibland känns svårt att veta vilka områden som är säkra. En kort promenad kan snabbt övergå till slumområden, tropiskt regn och märkliga möten. Som tur är fungerar Uber överraskande smidigt, billigt och snabbt. Mellan alla förberedelser försöker vi också njuta av platsen: pelikaner, tvättbjörnar och sengångare dyker upp runt oss, vi testar färskt sockerrör, flyr hettan med AC-pauser i shoppingcenter och tar en välbehövlig chilldag på Taboga Island. Dessutom fyller Niklas år 🎉
