ur Cornwall adventure took us to Boobies Bay, Constantine Bay, and Treyarnon Bay — three stunning beaches on the north Cornish coast. We thought we’d struck gold, finding a quiet little lane to park just a couple hundred metres from the beach. From there we set out to explore: • At Boobies Bay, the tide was in, so we missed the shipwreck that’s sometimes visible at low tide. • At Constantine Bay, surfers filled the water, enjoying perfect waves. • At Treyarnon Bay, we spotted an artist perched on the rocks, painting as the tide crept dangerously close to his feet! The day ended with a little surprise — on trying to leave, we discovered the gate to the lane was locked. It turns out the road belongs to the golf course and is actually a paid car park… whoops! Last week we cut out the old engine bed and compared it with the new one — this week, it’s time for one of the most critical steps of our refit: installing the new carbon fibre engine bed for our bigger Nanni. Getting this right is essential. The bed has to be cut precisely to fit around the bulkheads without losing strength, then laminated in carbon fibre to carry the weight of the engine for years to come. With such a tight engine room, even the smallest error could make fitting the engine a serious challenge. In this video we explore the ups and downs of Bermuda in the winter months. Would we spend the winter in Bermuda again? We would definitely spend a winter in Bermuda again, but there are some things we would do differently. Bermuda is an expensive location, so the more you can stock up on everything from food, to spares, and even supplies for boat projects, before you leave for Bermuda, the better off you will be. Water must be purchased in Bermuda, so a means to collect rain water, or a water maker would be a real cost saver. The frequent gales in Bermuda, means that you need to have good ground tackle that’s easy to deploy, or rent a mooring in a protective cove. We are replacing all of our appliances, and that requires a new counter! While removing the old one, we discovered just how heavy Corian is. It's are to believe anyone puts it in a catamaran. In this episode we are building a new counter from Coosa Board laminated with 1/8 inch fiberglass sheet. We're pretending we know how to be carpenters by using biscuits to join the pieces and even created drop edges. Episode 282 | Sailing to an indigenous village to learn about their culture, traditions and even join an ancestral medicinal ritual (that made me lose my mind). In this episode, we share our experience visiting two Indigenous communities in Brazil: the Guarani and the Pataxó. Their songs, dances, and rituals are expressions of ancestral traditions that deserve respect. Among them, we were invited to participate in a sacred medicine ritual using a preparation made from tobacco and medicinal plants, an ancient practice rooted in spirituality and healing.
