A short video (7 min) from aboard the S/V Excelsior of the OPCYC "Tri-Services Race" that took place Sept. 9th, 2017. This was my first time crewing with Steve and his friends on Excelsior. I also was not really prepared to video the action prperly. I had my GoPro on the floating hande so everything is handheld and as such I had stop videoing whenever acted as mmore than just rail meat. =] "Weather is what you get, Sailing is what you DO with it." My son Seb joins me for the next leg of my journey.We would Canary island hop. After some final work to my anchor bowsprit, we would leave Lanzarote island for good and head to La Graciosa. We never do things the easy way...! The time has come to get our Viking RescYou liferaft serviced. It's about a year overdue (don't worry, it's still safe) and because we're soon to be embarking on another sailing season, we need to get this thing serviced and ready to go. Of course, being us, we decide to get the extremely heavy liferaft off the transom on the one day we have bad weather: the boat was bucking up and down, we had a pillar to negotiate around, and there was just the two of us. Enter our hero, the lovely marina staff here at St John Yacht Harbour, who helped us manhandle the liferaft onto the pontoon. It honestly would have ended up in the water had he not rushed to our rescue. We take it to the local service centre, where the very kind staff unpack it, inflate it, and show us the contents of the emergency bag inside. We sincerely hope this is the one and only time we see the contents of our liferaft! No porto flutuante vimos os barcos onde as pessoas viajam deitadas nas redes, em trajetos durante o dia e até vários dias. Muitos eletrodomésticos e mercadorias são transportadas nesses barcos. No mercado de peixes de manaus vimos como funciona a indústria da pesca da região, muitas peixarias recebendo e limpando diversas espécies de peixes, como tambaqui, dourado, pirarucu, piranha entre outros. Tem peixes gigantes, que chegam a pesar 90 Kgs! Fomos almoçar no restaurante Tambaqui de Banda, onde, claro, comemos um tambaqui de banda, acompanhado de farofa de banana (com farinha da uarini), uma delícia. Fomos de transfer até o porto de microonibus, com todas as malas, e fizemos nosso checkin no hotel barco Iberostar Grand Amazon, um hotel de rio 5 estrelas com pensão completa (all inclusive). Fizemos um tour do quarto mostrando todos os detalhes do quarto. Depois de instalados jantamos no restaurante Kuarup, com um buffet excelente e muita sobremesa gostosa. Terminamos o dia com um pouco de mágica, durante o jantar e depois no show de mágica no teatro do barco, onde a Dri e eu fomos até o palco!
