Sailing a 700nm passage West, we decide to cross the equator, NAKED of course! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after visiting the local market in Jayapura and enjoying the street food of Indonesia, it was time to head back to sea and continue our journey West to the Indonesian province of Raja Ampat. The 700nm passage to Sorong took us close to the equator and since we were so close we thought, lets cross the damn thing! We sail off course and head North crossing the equator naked then are greeted by a monster squall. We have a quick party and offer our sacrifice to King Neptune before setting some sails again and sailing south in the strong winds and heavy rain! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! This is return trip to Dana Point after anchoring at Little Harbor. Although Keeldragger rotated 360 degrees overnight, the anchor held. Pulling up the anchor was a bit of a beast--the anchor was not dug in, but the rode had wrapped around a bunch of kelp. Once I pulled the line out of kelp, the anchor was pretty easy to retrieve. | Season 3 | Episode 39 | PART 1 (before.....) Welcome to Season 3 of my channel! On this episode we head out for our adventure leaving the island of Ljusterö after days of boat work. On our departure day.... a Friday 😟... we were met with 25+ knots of wind in the morning that eased to 14+ after out noon departure time. The landscape created ever changing sailing conditions, with wind shadows, gusts in channels and the like. | Season 3 | Episode 40 | PART 2 (After...) This video is the story of what happened to us after we ran aground in the Stockholm Archipelago and the mistakes we made that nearly lead to the drowning of both the captain and myself. I have made this "Part II" of previous episode ( https://youtu.be/LRdur2e2pyU ) so it would be a stand alone story and a cautionary tale of sorts to try and help any sailors out there that might find themselves in a similar situation in the future. I am very grateful to have not drowned on that day and felt it was my duty to other mariners to share this experience and the mistakes we made to try and help others. It is very easy to judge our actions from he comfort of ones home but please keep in mind that when you are faced with life or death situation sometimes you have to make less than ideal choices or watch a friend drown. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

GTR Racing completed an almost flawless race with multiple sail changes and navigational challenges to shore hop up the narrows against the tide to take both lines and handicap honours in 2018 Bar Buoy race.
