In this episode we set sail from Africa for the 300 Nm passage to Ibiza and Formentera. There were storms reported for our passage a few days before we left from Melilla, but the lates reports before we left were all fine. In the end we ended up with no winds at all for the most part. On our way over Megan shared some philosophy of life and we had some beautiful sunsets and a few laughs. She even got me to serve a sea shanty! During our time in Raja Ampat we had seen other tourists and dive boats from nearby resorts. We wanted to get as far away as we could, to the hard to reach places where very few make the effort to go. We first thought we would not visit the island of Wayag as it exactly that, a long way away. With strong trade winds blowing, it would be downwind sailing to reach the island but make it extremely difficult to leave. We decided it was worth it, even if we got stuck for a week or two. What we discovered was simply amazing and well worth the effort of being stranded in paradise! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! We finish fixing the boat in Martinique and join a convoy of over 100 boats to watch a famous regatta made up of custom made Yawl sailboats. A little delay in our trip down to Havasu Falls brings us through Zion, Valley of Fire and Las Vegas! Found ourselves hiking some incredible trails in Zion National Park to the Subway and the Narrows. Spent one of the hottest days since being in the truck in Valley of Fire, Nevada just before finding our way to 4 days of R&R in Las Vegas. Some much needed air conditioning and rest before our 12 mile hike down to Havasupi Indian Reservation. Stay tuned for the footage from the most beautiful place down in the Grand Canyon.

It's very possible they were referring to taking part in an ocean crossing by sail boat. After spending six weeks getting Javelot ready for the off we really didn’t expect quite so many things to breakdown during the crossing. However, when all is said and done it could have been a lot worse. I'm glad to report that the spirits of those on board sailing vessel Javelot were never dampened. The hardest part to handle was the storm we encountered on day three. We had been warned to expect some high winds but even the weather router hadn’t predicted the 50 knot winds we experienced. Not much fun. Thankfully they didn’t last too long, so the sea didn’t get too big. Just big enough to steal our kayak that has been riding safely up on our bow for the past 4 years. Hopefully it will wash up somewhere where someone else will get to enjoy it as much as we did. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. Depois de dias de manutenção estávamos loucos para dar uma saidinha do pier, já estávamos quase criando cracas! Acabamos por ir para a Praia da Fazenda, na Ilha da Gipóia. De lá, pegamos uma trilhinha para a Praia das Flechas, que tem um mergulho ainda mais lindo. E então, aquele churrasco com nossos amigos do Strega e Caratinga para fechar o dia com chave de ouro!

When we finally set sail from Tunisia on overnight passage to Sicily we went straight into the middle of several unforecast lightning storms! Made for an exciting night! On arrival it was amazing to rediscover the joys of Italian food in the beautiful Egadi islands and also made it back to where we started our journey last year on Nikau - Cagliari in Sardinia. We have a bit of drama with the acceleration failing on our rental car and David gets a particularly unfortunate home haircut but it's all part of the adventure (that's how we roll these days). We are now heading west and stocking up in preparation for the Atlantic crossing soon. We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We had quite a rough night anchored at Rat Cay last night and only got 2 hours of sleep. Today we are getting some exercise by hiking across to the windward side of the island. Kenzie's knee is feeling much better now and we're going to see if we can make it further than we did last time we were here. There is a trail that goes across the island to the windward side. You will know you are on the path by seeing various trash items along the way. Once you get to the windward side, you're pretty much on your own and will have to bush whack your way through the rough terrain if you want to go any further. Randall took on the challenge and hiked his way through what Kenzie would call "Spider Heaven", leaving Kenzie behind. While on Great Guana Cay we found many large spiders as big as Randall's hand, and also one lazy looking snake. We spent two days at Great Guana Cay before picking up anchor and sailing further north along the Exumas Bank.
