ZERO performed very well and we were almost flying. 8 and sometimes even 9 knots, in a calm ocean, no rolling no surfing just pure power of the wind. And then, anchored in beautiful Turtle bay we even found good conditions to pump up our kites and went kiteboarding. And in Abreojos Poseidon even let me enjoy windsurfing.. oh what an awesome time.. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. In questo sesto e ultimo video vi mostriamo come abbiamo collegato il nostro inverter all'impianto 12-220 V della barca. Abbiamo scelto un inverter Prowatt SV della Xantrex da 1400 W. Lo abbiamo fissato su un rinforzo in legno attaccato alla parete della sala motori. Dalla morsettiera qui presente, collegata alle batterie, partono i cavi di + e - che portano corrente a 12V all'inverter. I cavi che escono dall'inverter arrivano a un teleruttore, uguale a quello del generatore, ed entrambe vanno a un deviatore per poter scegliere da quale fonte attingeranno le prese e le utenze 220V. Dal deviatore passano a un salvavita geenrale detto interruttore differenziale. La linea 220V viene poi divisa ai vari interruttori magnetotermici. Da questi vanno ai relais che ricevono il consenso per chiudere il circuito dai pulsanti nel quadro in dinette. Ogni relais è collegato a un'untenza diversa e due sono destinati alle prese di prua e di poppa. Ricordiamo a tutti che non siamo dei professionisti e qualunque consiglio è ben accetto! In this episode of Sailing Chelsea, we finally leave La Rochelle, France, after a fantastic, but busy, couple of weeks. We have met some amazing friends and are sad to leave but also excited to complete our Bay of Biscay crossing! Typically, the weather predictions have changed and so we decide to head for Santander instead of Gijon, as very strong winds are predicted near to there and we want to stay well away from them! The crossing itself goes well but we have the usual Sailing Chelsea dramas, one being our sail bag lines chaff through in the middle of the night. Not a problem until you come to lower the sails! Ryan manages to catch a fish but unfortunately the hook gets caught in the net in our tender and we can't retrieve the fish in time to save our tender from looking like a crime scene - well done Ryan! In this episode we leave beautiful Don Pedro Anchorage and keep heading south on the ICW. Our next stop was St. James next to the "miserable mile." The next day we head to downtown North Ft. Myers and stay for a few days. The anchorage was a bit sketchy so we decided to keep heading east up the river to the first lock and tie to some dolphins.

Der letzte Teil unseres AbsegelTörns 2018... Zuerst sah es vom Wind her so aus, als müssten wir nachts schon ablegen, um gut nach Hause segeln zu können. Gegen Abend hatte sich die Vorhersage geändert, sodass es in der Frühe am Sonntag für uns besser aussah. Also legten wir Sonntag ca gegen 8Uhr in Marstal ab. Jessi und Kim schmierten Brötchen. Jan und Steffi setzten die Segel, während Robert steuerte. Nach dem Frühstück waren 3 von 5 müde und legten sich nochmal in die Kojen. Der Wind bließ gut und der Seeteufel rannte mit 7-9 Kn durchs Wasser. Schon nach 3 Stunden stand Steffi unter Deck und verkündete, dass wir soeben den Kieler Leuchtturm querab haben. Das überraschte uns sehr, denn das war ziemlich schnell! Wieder anziehen und raus ins Cockpit-noch die letzten Momente genießen❤️ Schönstes Wetter begleitete uns. Am Abend kam auch Timo mit der Christine zurück nach Kiel. Steffi, Jessi und Kim ließen sich von einem Bekannten aus dem Hafen mit seinem Boot auf die Förde bringen und gingen bei Timo an Bord, um ihm und seiner Crew beim Anlegen im Hafen zu helfen. Als die Christine wieder fest war, war die Sonne unter gegangen und wir fuhren glücklich und nach Hause

Sturm oder Flaute-Absegeln 2018 Wir beenden die Segelsaison 2018 mit guten Freunden... leider nicht auf der Irmi, aufgrund von mangelnder Kojenanzahl und dem unzuverlässigen Motor, sind wir mit dem Seeteufel unterwegs. 2. Tag gemütliches Segeln von Schleimünde nach Sonderborg🇩🇰 Kim schrieb währenddessen den DonnerstagsBlog. Etwas schwachwindig und bewölkt war es an dem Tag. Die Stimmung war die ganze Zeit gut! Zum Abendessen gab es standesgemäß Hotdogs (in vegan 🌱❤️) Nach dem gemeinsamen Abwasch, machten wir uns auf in die Stadt und tranken in einem gemütlichen Pub ein Bier. Zurück an Bord saßen wir noch eine Weile zusammen im Cockpit, genossen die laue Temperatur, erzählten und lachten viel.

Winds had abated after yesterday’s storm off the Cote d’Azur, but sadly the sea state on the Rade de Toulon was considered too large for the nimble flying catamarans to race safely on day one of the GC32 TPM Med Cup. Following Toulon’s hosting of the America’s Cup World Series in 2016, the GC32 TPM Med Cup – also for flying catamarans and even including two teams from that event (Franck Cammas’ NORAUTO and Sir Ben Ainslie’s INEOS TEAM UK) – is being supported by Toulon Provence Mediterranée and the city of Toulon. I lay some concrete, build some frames to keep the plywood off the ground and put up a marquee/gazebo to be used as my wood 'shed' to keep the marine plywood and timber dry and protected. So on a broiling, tropical afternoon we donned our wet weather gear and jumped into the pool to see just how easy it would be to get into and use the liferaft. This was a good example of learning through experience... Even in these benign conditions it proved to be a much tougher exercise than we realised. In a bucking ocean, at night it would be nearly impossible, and we would soon run out of energy. If we had to abandon ship we would try everything to get into the liferaft from deck rather than from the water.
