In this episode of Solitude And Sailing, we begin step one of the refit of our Bristol 22. Then we take a break for a little Sailing and it’s back to boat work.

Today I sailed home my new to me 1972 Bristol Carvel 22. I purchased for a great deal on eBay, if I told you how much you wouldn’t believe me so don’t even ask . Let’s just stay. It was an awesome deal. So I purchased her without ever looking at the cabin. I saw her from the shoreline, and I fell in love with this vintage sailboat. Now it’s time to start the motor for the very first time and head down the channel in East Greenwich Bay. Then it’s off to Narraganset Bay towards her new slip. In this episode I take a a dinghy ride over to the mooring location for my new to me 1972 Bristol Caravel 22 vintage sailboat. Overall she is a decent shape but does need a little TLC that SOLITUDE AND SAILING can DIY no problem. In the next video we will sail her home to her new slip.

After failing to get run last season and sitting all winter, will my 2 stroke 6.0 hp Hangkai outboard run? She is a hard start and stalls right away. After changing the fuel and spark plug I then go onto removing and cleaning the carburetor. Total cost next to nothing. I was able to reuse the gaskets. Carb kits can be purchased online. If you are having difficulty starting or your outboard stalls out, then this video might help. Hope you have success with your outboard and a great summer on the water.

Recap of my Burlingame Campground experience with the family. One of Rhode Island camping spots that I do recommend. Although the campsite does not offer electric or septic hook-ups, they do have pumpout stations and water stations. There is a boat launch area, swimming area, playground, arcade, campstore, walking trails, open fields and plenty of shaded areas. The grounds were clean and staff were friendly. We enjoyed our stay there.

In this episode I discovered a new cleaning product that really made my spring cleaning effortless. The mildew and possible carbon deposits came right off.
