Hello HaveWind followers! Quick fun video for you here showcasing the stunning port we are staying at now waiting for the Lagoon 42 we will be delivering across the Atlantic to be completed. Not a bad place to wait, I will tell you. Stunning views, amazing fromageries, and some pretty darn good wine to boot! We should be able to board the Lagoon next week and startnpreparing to set off across the Bay of Biscay! I posted a fun write-up of our travel plans--how we met Kate and Cyrus and connected, and why Phillip and I changed our own travel plans to join them on an epic Atlantic crossing--today at www.havewindwilltravel.com. I’ve also been holding a fun shipyard video in store to share with you all when we cast-off so you guys will have something fun to watch as we head out across the ocean. Follow along in real time via our Delorme posts at www.facebook.com/havewindwilltravel. Enjoy!

This vlog reviews four more amazing motor yacht builders, some better known than others, but all ranking amongst the best in their respective categories.

Hello Friends, This is just a short video where I talk about discovering seagrass holding open my seawater intake valve on my head. On our last trip we kept having the problem with the head filling up with seawater even though we had switched the switch on the toilet to the "safe" side. It turned out to be full of seagrass and this could have resulted in the boat sinking if we were not onboard and the bilge pump failed for any reason. My old head was a "Johnson Pump" and was new on the boat when I bought it but it never worked great and broke when I took it apart to inspect the valve. I replaced it with a beautiful new "Jabsco Twist 'n' Lock Manual Head, Marine Toilet" I love Jabsco (even though I pronounce it Jobsco) products, I have their macerator pump onboard Triteia and all of my Y valves are also Jabsco. I hope this helps someone if you ever encounter your bowl overflowing with seawater, this might be a good place to look... If its overflowing with something other than seawater.... please don't call me for help. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy the content please leave a comment and like below or you can donate as little as a dollar a video if you are so inclined on our patreon page. #overnight #crossingthestraight We depart Gibraltar for Portugal on an over night sail through the straights between Europe and Africa. We encounter some strong winds and waves . We arrive and anchor at Culatra on the Portuguese coast close to Faro. We experience strong tides as we try to make our way in to the river system. We are really enjoying this life and share everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

After day one here in Cascais, Nico Poons' Charisma was dead last having posted a 7-8. Even newcomer to the fleet, Paulo Mirpuri and his Mirpuri Foundation, enjoying his first ever day racing in the RC44 fleet, were ahead. A 2-2-6-1 on day two saw the Monaco-based Dutchman's team fight back to fourth place, still nine points from the lead. Yesterday, a welcome continuation of their winning streak saw them win both races in big winds and giant seas, coinciding with a most unfortunate day for day two's leader, Team Nika. This propelled Charisma into the lead. No racing today left Charisma hitting the jackpot, winning the RC44 Cascais Cup, with a three point advantage over Chris Bake's Team Aqua, second on countback to Igor Lah's Team CEEREF. Charisma also overhauled both Team Nika and Team CEEREF to claim the annual RC44 Championship for the first time. The RC44 Cascais Cup is the final event of the 2018 RC44 Championship Tour which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. In the middle of September we had a expedition from Greenland to Norway. This is filmed on the leg sailing from Iceland to Norway. We had wind up to 60 knots and 13m high waves sailing towards Faroe Islands. After 4 days with constantly looking over your shoulder making sure you surf the big waves right, this happens... Huge fin whales surfing beside our sailboat!!! Filmed by our captain Mats Grimsæth

#veleiro #compartilhar

The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. Thank you! Tony

Nick has packed a lot into his 30-year sailing career including an around-the-globe non-stop world sailing speed record in 2002, where he and his team captured the Trophée Jules Verne. That same year, he also achieved a 1st place in the largest solo transatlantic yacht race, La Route du Rhum. With 2 Americas Cups, 15 world sailing speed records and Volvo Ocean Races under his belt, Nick possesses a passion and drive to win thats seldom seen. A sailor, windsurfer and free diver, Nick is still the first and only person to ever windsurf 125nm, across the notorious Bass Strait to Tasmania in 22h 11m. In this episode Nick provides advice about focus, passion and managing energy levels to maximise performance. Ahoy crew! We’ve been saving this fun announcement for you. Many followers have asked our cruising plans this winter, and it’s likely not at all what you would have guessed. We’re going to complete our first Atlantic Circle! I mean ... life is very full for me and Phillip at HaveWind! We will be flying to France in early November to meet up with some new sailing friends, Kate and Cyrus, whom you all will meet soon, to help them deliver their being-built-now Lagoon 42 from La Rochelle, France to the BVIs likely via the Canaries. How exciting is that! When we crossed the first time in 2016 from Florida to France we were going against the trade winds. This time it should be a smoother ride, but we have no idea what the boat and the great big ocean has in store for us. Many lessons I’m sure. What better reason to go! We will be posting on HaveWind’s Facebook page via the Delorme so you all can follow along and track us in real time as we cross the pond. www.facebook.com/havewindwilltravel Shipyard Annie also wanted you to know she’s been working hard filming this past summer while we were hauled out at the Pensacola Shipyard with Brandon at www.perdidosailor.com, and I put together several videos before I left so you all would have some very cool stuff to watch at HaveWind while we’re offshore. So, be on the lookout for those and enjoy the boat project videos! Phillip and I feel very fortunate that we have the health and flexibility to seize opportunities like this when they come along. While a ton (and I do mean a literal TON!) of behind the scenes work goes into being able to step away and shove off for a six-week adventure, it is all totally worth it. We LOVE going offshore. We’re super excited about this upcoming adventure, and hope you all are too. We’ll have much to share when we return! And, our end goal is to still sail our baby girl down to Grenada in the spring to keep her there for hurricane season. We’re going to be busy this cruising season! Enjoy the show! Since buying our Pearson sailboat in Maryland, we have cruised all the way to Florida via offshore Atlantic Ocean and the ICW in just over 4 months. Catch all the craziness of this episode, starting with our headsail ripping and falling into the water, then us RUNNING AGROUND (AGAIN!), and finally Elijah's anchor drags in the middle of the night and he almost crashes into a super yacht! && we are running from storms- like always! :) Huge thanks to all of those who visited us in this video and graciously showed us around your Floridian hometowns! We hope you enjoy the final episode of Season 1 before we start cruising the Caribbean! Most sailors’ night terrors consist of the perfect storm filled with skyscraper high seas, crew being flung overboard and clogged heads. But not mine. No, mine reek of nostril stinging cat purrfume. Our 2 months supply has been used up and we're attempting to go for the only option available here in the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia: Go to the beach, dig up sand and pray the cat's don't revolt. The first half of the vid is all about collecting sand while the second half is the review of how well free beach sand works as cat litter. Hope you enjoy...it was quite the Traveling Cat experiment. This is Episode #4 in the 10 Ways Wharrams Are Wonderful Series. We show how we lowered our masts by hand using the simple Wharram method. We used pretty much the same mast raising system as James and Hanneke on "Spirit of Gaia" - the 63' flagship of the Wharram designs. SAILING WITH ROYALTY MEGHAN AND HARRY On a whim we travelled to Nadi Airport to see the visiting Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Philip's grandson). Although it was a long day in the sun, we got a great view of the royal couple, Harry and Meghan (whose first name is Rachel!). I think they enjoyed the great view of us too. In other news, it hardly seems worth mentioning that we also put Javelot back in the water and had a quick overnighter with our new boat buddies on Chasing Stars. And lest we forget, we did a wee tour of the boat too. Only to find out we’ve been Robbed! A big thank you to the talented artists who have allowed us to use their music. On reflection, I’m amazed that we hadn’t heard about Bruce Ritchie before Yachting World asked us to follow up re an Extraordinary Yachts article for their November issue. This energetic octogenarian who designed Revolver (a so-called ‘gentleman’s racer’) to share with his son Michael has been an unsung innovator in yacht design for much of his busy life. Revolver is like its designer, quietly ingenious.
The second half of our trip to Tonga, the weather settles right down allowing us a slice of normality for the last few days. We do some nice sailing, we cross the date line, and we finally arrive in the calm, serene anchorage of Vava’u, Tonga. The dramatically different conditions on day three of the RC44 Cascais Cup saw some teams come to the fore today, perhaps better suited to the severe conditions, none more so than Nico Poons' Charisma. The Monaco-based Dutchman had won yesterday's final race and continued his winning streak today to claim bullets in both of the two races held. In comparison yesterday's runaway leader, Vladimir Prosikhin's Team Nika, had a day they'd rather forget, posting a disappointing 6-8, the latter following some leeward gate spinnaker trawling. The end result going into the final day of the RC44 Cascais Cup, and of the 2018 season, is that Charisma has streaked into the lead, three points ahead of Chris Bake's Team Aqua. The RC44 Cascais Cup is the final event of the 2018 RC44 Championship Tour which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts.
