You know what's awesome about being at anchor in for that long? There is no CNN, no MSNBC, no Fox News, no parties, no drama. It's just the two of us and the asmr sounds of the ocean and birds, Kate playing beautiful music as she is learning the guitar, and enjoying sunsets and nature. We have a smooth sail and show the checking in the process via MAYAG into Grenada. It was overall a good and motivational experience! (A note, now you need to use SailClear). Come along for the ride with us as we take our J/46 monohull sailboat on an around-the-world voyage. Who are we? We are Kate, Curtis, and Roxy the Dog. We are from Ohio/Michigan and we bought and re-fit our sailboat in Rhode Island. We set off almost two years ago, cruising the northeast, Maine, Bahamas, and the Caribbean and have been living off the grid since then. Our plan is to sail around the world via the great capes (Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope). We were lifelong young sailors and sailboat racers, but like many others, we were inspired by videos from the likes of Sailing La Vagabond, SV Delos, Gone with the Wynns, and many others. We don't have a fancy catamaran, but we think we have the perfect cruising sailboat. We wanted to pass the inspiration along. Our sailing catamaran came with a Dinghy. The problem is we bought our own, brand new Highfield 340 Dinghy about a year ago. Now we are faced with the unusual problem of ownership of two! Solution... Sell the old one, right? Nope! The title of the Dinghy that came with the boat is tied up in escrow with the Venezia 42 Catamaran. Without the title we, cannot sell it. In this Video we finally drop the old tender and manage to start the engine. We are excited to hoist our new Highfield 340 CL Dinghy. Sailing and cruising will be so much better with our new Highfield 340. The Dinghy is a lot like your car and the catamaran is your home! When it rains, it pours! This episode opens with us disconnecting our tow from S/V Delos and getting Calico Skies anchored under power from our dinghy. We being the process of flushing the transmission fluid several times after getting the dipstick caught in the gears. With the transmission issue resolved we make our way to Valley Cove, Mount Desert Island just before some heavy weather rolls in. It's a long, noisy day spent on anchor watch. A strong gust of wind grabs the top of our staysail and unfurls the entire sail resulting in some chaos and sets the stage for a future problem. After weathering the blow we continue our trek south west with our bow pointed towards Camden. It's a windy sail and we want to deploy the staysail. The sail is balled up on the deck after it opened up in the heavy air back in Valley Cove. We raise the sail with the intention of using it while sailing in 20+ knots of wind. While trying to get the sail setup the large metal d ring on the clew hits Bill in the face resulting in a a deep cut. We struggle to get the sail back down and alter our course to a closer anchorage to patch Bill up. The next day we resume our trip to Camden and tie up to a floating dock along with our buddies on Delos. As soon as we tie up we get down to repairing a burst water line. Mai 2020: Touristen-Magnete wie die Blaue Grotte von Bisevo, Stadtkai Hvar, Marina Korcula und Palmizana, die sonst völlig überfüllt waren, besuchten wir kurz nach dem 1. Coronlockdown und waren begeistert, weil nur wenige andere Segler unterwegs waren. Es war ein Traum! Für uns selber war bis 2 Wochen vorher auch nicht klar, ob eine Einreise nach Kroatien und quarantänefreie Einreise zurück nach Deutschland möglich sein wird. Aber wir wussten, wenn wir es wagen, werden wir leere Buchten und Marinas vorfinden. Wir starteten als 1. Crew nach dem 1. Corona-Lockdown von der ACI Marina Trogir mit unserer Bavaria 36 aus 2008. Wir segelten am Samstag von Trogir nach Solta, wo wir in der Bucht Soline mit Landleine ankerten. Blaue Grotte ab Minute 03:18 Wir kamen um kurz vor 11 Uhr an. Gerne wären wir mit unserem eigenen Dinghi in die Grotte, aber ein Ranger kam und meinte, wir müssen ein Ticket lösen und dürfen nur mit ihm rein. Im Nachhinein war es interessant, was er zu erzählen hatte und wir 6 (wir 4 & Carlos und Luis Freundin Clarissa war neu mit dabei ;) hatten in seinem Boot besser Platz, als in unserem Dinghi ;) Es war leer !!! Es war phantastisch !!! Wir konnten die Grotte, das Blau, das Lichtspiel richtig in uns aufnehmen! Er meinte, dass sonst 1.000 Besucher am Tag mit immer gleichzeitig 5 - 6 Booten durch die Grotte geschläust werden. Das stelle ich mir nicht so prickelnd vor, aber so war es halt die vergangenen Jahr. Wir selbst warteten 2018 schon mal ewig in unserem Schiff und wurden nicht mal abgeholt! Zu viele Touristen wurden mit Schnellbooten von VIS oder sonst woher rüber geschaufelt. Für uns war es auf jeden Fall unvergesslich! Anschließend segelten wir nach Vis in in die Bucht Stiniva. Hier waren wir nun das 3. mal und es ohne Touristen zu erleben war noch mal ein Highliht! Wir verbrachten sogar die Nacht von Sonntag auf Montag dort. Am Montag segelten wir mit tollem Raumwind zur grünen Grotte nach Ravnik. Naja ... im Vergleich zur Blue Cave natürlich weit weniger Spektakulär, aber das kann auch an dem bewölktem Wetter gelegen haben. Weiter gings nach Korcula in die Vela Luka, mit 2 Badestops. Am Dienstag segelten wir mit 34 kn Raumwind von Korcula Vela Luka nach Korcula Stadt. Seglerisch war es der Hammer ! Bis dahin jagte ein Highlight das Nächste ;) In Teil 2 schlendern wir Dienstag Abend durch leere Gassen uns Straßen. Das war ein bischen gespenstisch. Kostenlos lagen wir die Nacht mit nur wenigen anderen Crews in der ACI Marina Korcucla, in der man sonst 2 Tage vorher reservieren muss. Am Mittwoch segelten wir zurück Richtung Insel Scredo - eine kleine Insel südlich von Hvar. Wieder hatten wir viel raumen Wind. Wir verbrachten dort in einer schönen Bucht die Nacht an einer Boje. Am Donnerstag nutzten wir die Gunst der Stunde und legten bei hohen Wellen in HVAR am Stadtkai an. Auch dort war es leer! Die Marian Palmizana ist eher als Party und Flotillen-Marina bekannt, die man besser meidet, wenn man überhaupt einen Platz bekommt. Die war noch gar nicht geöffnet und wir legten uns in dieses grüne Idyll. Da es den Donnerstag verregnete und stürmte blieben wir Donnerstag in der Palmizana, spazierten über die Insel und fuhren erst Freitag zurück nach Trogir. It was day 4 for the Stars and day 2 for the Melges 24s and J70s in the Bacardi Invitational Regatta. The Polish/Brazilian team, Kusznierewicz and Prada, in the Star class holds strong atop the leaderboard, but the podium finishes of each race in the other two fleets saw some fresh faces, which will shake up the leaderboards considerably.

Convoyage de Dieppe au Havre, en 2 étapes: - Samedi 27 Février 2021 Dieppe-Fécamp Une journée agréable, le soleil était au RDV, peu de vent et une mer calme. - Dimanche 28 Février 2021 Fécamp-le Havre Une journée complètement différente, froid, couvert, une houle jusqu'à 2 mètres, le soleil est venu nous réchauffer passé le Cap d'Antifer. Nous sommes ravis d'avoir réussi à convoyer notre bateau sans incident. Nous avons eu la chance de voir dauphins, phoques, et nombreux oiseaux marins. Mais nous avons échoué pour la pêche!!! Nous avons choisi de mettre Oxten au Havre (bassin Vauban). L'idée est de pouvoir faire de petites navigations (pas trop longues pour les enfants) vers d'autres ports. Notre nouvelle zone de navigation nous permettra de découvrir la côte Normande: Honfleur, Deauville, Cabourg, Ouistreham... Et plus loin si le vent nous y mène. Nous débutons, c'est notre premier bateau et on espère bien continuer à apprendre et prendre plaisir à naviguer. #voilierenfamille #voilierjeanneauRush
