Cruises from Nassau Bahamas will begin sailing on June 12th, 2021 Adventure of the Seas: starting sailing from Nassau in June Vision of the Seas: starting sailings from Bermuda in June (dates not announced yet) Adventure of the Seas June 12, 19, 26 - Bahamas + Cozumel with 2 days at Perfect Day at Coco Cay Documenting new procedures on cruising in 2021 ======================================== New rules for cruising Guests 18 years and older to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Each guest must submit proof of vaccination no later than boarding day, in the form of the original vaccination record This means that the guest has completed the full cycle of required doses for the vaccine administered (e.g., received the second dose in a two-dose series), and that the guest has received the final dose at least 14 days before sailing. Under 18 requires a negative covid test. Travel agents are amazing! ======================================== I reached out to my travel agent, Lisa Stewart with Dream Vacations, who was on-the-ball with contacting Royal Caribbean right away to get availability. Not only did she find me a cabin on one of these first cruises in June, but she also sent me all covid vaccination requirements. I definitely recommend having a travel agent! Travel agents are free to use and almost always have inside information to cabin availability that you can’t find online. Lisa was able to find a balcony cabin for about $100 less than an inside cabin! Travel Agent Info: Lisa Stewart Dream Vacations 704-288-8030 l.stewart@dreamvacations.com The Cruise I will be going on ======================================== Because my kids don’t get out of school for the summer until June 22nd, I wasn’t able to get on the June 12th or 19th cruise, but I did get a cabin on the June 26th cruise from Nassau to Cozumel and 2 days at Perfect Day at CocoCay. I will be flying to Nassau for less than $200 thanks to Travel Hacking! I’ve accumulated a lot of American Airlines points by using credit cards the right way and taking advantage of signup bonuses so my round trip plane ticket to Nassau will be free and I only have to pay the government fees for the ticket! I’m looking forward to documenting this trip for you and am planning on releasing youtube videos as soon as possible (and maybe even live streaming from the ship!) I’m also really excited about having 2 days at CocoCay so I will do my best to make detailed videos of everything that CocoCay has to offer. This will also be my first time on Adventure of the Seas and even though it’s an older ship, there have been quite a few updates done to it and of course, all of the covid precautions that have been added will be interesting to see.

Luperon presents a rather tricky departure for the engineless cruising boat. One first has to work out of the narrow entrance into the anchorage, which will mean tacking against the prevailing easterly trade winds. I choose an early morning calm to make this first move. But I cannot leave yet as I still have to get outbound clearance from the officials just prior to departure, so I anchor further out and await their visit. And finally there is the entrance itself to negotiate, which has my anxiety levels elevated ... This might sound all too common but the family did it in 1977! This is the 3rd of 12 episodes that Joachim Campe filmed. They were all shot on 16mm film and have not ben seen since airing on German TV in 1984. Joachim, now 83 is very close to finishing another Circumnavigation aboard St Michel, the very same boat that the family sailed on four decades ago. Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 21 In this episode two amazing things happened to us, and both start with FR: Friends and Frames! We received a very nice visit (our dear friends from @OddLifeCrafting) and we are finally building and installing our first frame!! The first of many, which is bad but it's also very good! We show step by step how it goes from raw wood to frame on our bow! We hope you find it as fascinating as we do! There's a long journey ahead of us and we are super excited about it all! ༄ We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the works needed were a lot more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. This route protects sailors from the ocean swell, providing a smooth surface for a boats hull to glide through. With the wind at our back Rob waxes lyrical about the joys of sailing. However, the words are hardly out of his mouth when the frustrations that accompany sailing rear their ugly head, torn sails and broken equipment. In 1997, after missing out on his Olympic rowing medal dream, Rob decided to row a tiny seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. His first taste of a blue water ocean crossing. Skip forward to 2014, and married with three children we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn 18, Declan 16 and Ivan 13, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Sometimes this lifestyle isn't all sunsets and cocktails....in this episode we continue our mad dash south to escape a rapidly descending winter in New England. We get underway in the evening departing from Cuttyhunk Massachusetts bound for Cape May, New Jersey. We are leaving on the back of passing hurricane way out in the Atlantic giving us favorable winds to sail south. The seas are pretty churned up from the passing storm. The wind continues to fill in from behind as we progress on the passage. We are happy to try out our new heavy air, downwind configuration. We set up a poled out reefed genoa and our staysail sheeted in tight on the opposite side. This configuration is very balanced as the wind continues to build into the 30's. We flash back to the fall of 2019 to show how we installed the chainplate and d rings that support the load of the inner forestay that the staysail flies on. The wind begins to die on the last morning of our passage as we near Cape May. We go to start the diesel motor but unfortunately it makes a bad grinding sound upon starting. We shut it down and try to complete the last several miles, first under spinnaker, and then as the wind completely dies under hip tow from our tender. Towing isn't easy in the residual swell from the 30 knots of wind. Я предупредил. 🙂 История началась, когда мы в прошлом году застряли на Тенерифе из-за полного локдауна. Два с половиной месяца безделия, мелких ремонтных работ, изучения испанского языка и чтения новостей. А когда еще и школы закрыли, добавились занятия с юнгой. И одним из этих занятий было природоведение. Последнее домашнее задание, которые ей там дали - вырастить из семечка кустик чечевицы. Одной темной ночью я тайком выбрался с лодки, прокрался к ближайшему ресторану и отсыпал себе из горшка с пальмой земли. Поскольку в марине, кроме камней, не было ничего. А ночным тайком, потому что с лодки нам сходить было категорически запрещено, за чем бдительно следили полицейские вместе с военными. И вот когда я пересыпал землю в горшок, украсил его сверху пемзой и уже собрался опустить зернышко чечевицы. То подумал - какого чёрта! Взял и кинул в землю зернышко конопли, которое уже год валялось у меня на полке. Я уже даже не помню, откуда оно взялось. Но помню название - Big Devil auto. А мы к этому времени уже полтора месяца сидели под арестом. И еще через месяц нам это надоело, мы отвязались и пошли в сторону Мадейры. А росток продолжал расти. Вы даже не представляете, что ему довелось пережить! Его ежедневно хлестало океанскими ветрами! На него летели соленые брызги от волн! Его без остановки качало на огромных волнах! Вы не поверите - он научился компенсировать качку, подмахивая своим стволом! Когда я это увидел, то чуть не свалился с трапа! Растишка отрастила себе толстенный ствол, что бы сопротивляться качке. И перестала расти вверх, разрастаясь вширь. Мы дошли в лавировку до Мадейры, зашли на Порто Санто, дорулили до Гибралтара, потом одним броском до Барселоны, оттуда до Марселя и наконец пришли в Канны. К этому моменту растишка уже была роскошным растением, взрослым и пахучим. Причем запах был до одури приятным, извините за каламбур. 🙂 Ну и где то в районе Сан Тропе я наконец его срезал. Набралось две двухлитровые банки шишек. И куча листьев. Я не скажу, что не пробовал - конечно пробовал и гости пробовали и всем очень нравилось. Даже не так - продукт получился настолько ароматным и злым, что как то гости сходили в клуб и принесли два самых их сильных сорта. Они на фоне растишки оказались самым обычным сеном. Поэтому банки с продуктом улетели за борт. Ибо хорошего должно быть в меру. Интересовал меня в основном процесс, а не результат. Точнее было интересно, конечно, что получится. Но в качестве теста, а не устраивать из лодки канабис-клуб. Думал кому-нибудь отдать, но никто не встретился по пути обратно на Канары. Вот так закончилась эта история. Может когда-нибудь попробую повторить. А может нет. Пока что посадил зеленый лук и укроп, потому что на Лансароте их не продают. 🙂 Вывод же, если кому интересно, такой: конопля, выращенная в океане, в десять раз страшнее любой сортовой марихуаны.
