Zwei Tage Ostwind sagte der Wetterbericht voraus. Also setzten wir mit vier Booten die Segel, um von Kas nach Marmaris zu segeln. Einige Arbeiten warteten. Ich wollte endlich das Rigg überprüfen lassen, das ich vergangenes Jahr hatte erneuern lassen. Ein Service, der im Preis inbegriffen war. Zudem standen noch einige Besorgungen an. Eigentlich wollten wieder Hund, Katze, Maus mit an Bord sein, doch dringende Termine kamen dazwischen. Also setzte ich alleine an Bord der Dilly-Dally die Segel. Wie sich herausstellen sollte, war die Entscheidung gar nicht mal so schlecht. Das Wetter spielte ein bisschen verrückt. Sonne, Regen, Saharastaub, Wellen, Sturm und ein Kälteeinbruch prägten den Trip. The weather forecast predicted two days of easterly winds. So we set sail with four boats to sail from Kas to Marmaris. Some work was waiting. I wanted to finally have the rig checked, which I had had renewed last year. This week it's galley refit demo time. I didn't expect to find so much damage in the galley before demo for the refit. In this video, we're on the beautiful island of Menorca enjoying one of the coolest anchorages we've been in yet: Cala Coves. We have our friends visiting (who by the way own a beautiful Vindo 22 in Sweden). We have a rain day, so we go to this cool bar, built into the cliff rock face. We then sail to another stunning calas, and take our dinghy into a small fresh water river close to the beach and paddle up the river. We get to see loads of wildlife, it felt a bit like being in Jurassic Park! We do some boat jobs in an anchorage (redo our beauty bead on deck) and then sail to Ciutadella - another amazing Mediterranean town here in Menorca. We pick up a new starter battery and have a sweet sail over to Mallorca - 20nm away! All in all a great last few days in Menorca. Thanks for watching! This video is intended for beginners in Model Yacht Racing and Radio Sailing. It attempts to try and explain the Heat Management System (HMS) used in larger racing fleets in simple terms from the perspective of a competitor. HMS is a very effective fleet racing system but is quite difficult to explain to a newcomer. The example of a 45 boat regatta used in this video only shows a simplified, easy to understand, proof of method of the system. The actual number of boats in each individual heat varies depending on the HMS guidelines. For instance for 45 boats on a 4 boat promotion, the seeding race will be 15,15,15. Tideline Welded Aluminum Boats On January 15, 2021, new Gibsons-based boatbuilder Tideline Welded Aluminum Boats launched its first finished vessel. Built to a Bruce Cope design, the 12-passenger crew boat measures 31′8″ LOA x 10′6″ x 2′ (9.7 m x 3.2 m x 0.6 m), with a deep-vee hull designed to handle rough water. Deadrise is 18 degree, and the hull features wide chine flats. Construction is from 0.250″ bottom plate and 0.1875″ side plate, with 0.156″ cabin and deck plates. Power is from a Volvo Penta D6-380 with DPI drive, giving a top speed of 36 kts and a cruising speed of 30 kts, with a fuel consumption of 2 nautical miles/gallon at cruise. A 400 L fuel tank ensures good range, and navigation electronics includes a Garmin 7612XSV chartplotter/sonar and GMR18HD radar. Following sea trials and stability testing, the first vessel was delivered to an undisclosed commercial customer for use in a remote location, and Tideline is now accepting orders for further vessels of the same design (the design can be set up as a Transport Canada TP1332 certified 12-passenger crew boat, or configured as a fishing and cruising boat). She has 8 twin bed cabins are located on the lower deck, 4 more on the main deck: 2 are equipped with twin beds while other 2 are double bed cabins. All cabins are equipped with individual temperature controls, private bathrooms with hot water showers, hand basin, towels, reading light, mirror, storage, 24-hour, 220v electricity supply, and European-style 2-pin plugs. These cabins are perfect for sleeping and relaxing in privacy between dives.

A quick day sail (and motor) from Puerto Escondido, Baja California Sur to Puerto Ballandra on Isla Carmen, plus an unexpected running aground!

Not just sailors, sometimes we like land too! This fun little scramble of a hike is located on Isla Danzante, just outside of Puerto Escondido in Baja California Sur. A gorgeous anchorage, but be careful of the cacti. We both slipped on the steep, gravelly terrain, independently, and landed on the spiky plants. Matty had to pull over 40 spines out of his hand over the course of the next couple of weeks.

Winter in the Sea of Cortez means lots of wind from the North, but every now and again we are able to get in a great sailing day!

We spent about a month in Santa Rosalia waiting for the right weather window to make the crossing to San Carlos. I think that our patience paid off!
