Welcome to Slow Travel Films, we are very happy to share with you our cooking show! Outdoor Cooking With Rum. In this first chapter we show you the amazing Namibian chefs Jaco and Christelle, catching a lobster and cooking it in a delicious soup. This awesome couple have been traveling around the world for the last 20 years. Backpacking in Europe, driving around Southern Africa with a Land Rover, cycling the length of South America and their last adventure is in their sailboat, Songerie. After crossing the Atlantic, they have been sailing around the Caribbean for the last 10 years with their two lovely dogs Coco and Canela. They will be cooking seafood in paradise, in the most sustainable way posible and of course drinking some rum, from time to time. * * * If you want to know more about their lifestyle, the boat, the dogs and more delicious recipes cooked in the wild, leave your comments and let us know!!!! So we can make more videos. * * * Suscribe to our channel, like and share! Bring stock to boil. Add lobster and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove lobster and set aside to cool. Strain and reserve the stock. Remove the meat from the shell and reserve it. 2. In large saucepan, gently heat the butter, add onion and garlic and saute for 5 min. Stir in pumpkin and cook about 10 to 15 minutes until it is soft. (To bring out the sweetness in the pumpkin, I will roast it first) 3. Add tomatoes thyme and pepper or the bouquetgarni. Pour in all the reserved stock, bring back to boil, lower the heat and simmer for 20 min. 4. Remove the pan from heat, remove the thyme and pepper or bouquetgarni. Liquidise the soup to smooth. 5. Return soup to heat, add more pepper if you wish, stir in the lobster head meat, the cream, sugar and dash of rum. Adjust the seasoning. 6. Finally slice the lobster tail into slices, brush with oil. Heat a non stick frying pan and flash grill the slices. If you dare, add a dash of rum and flambé the lobster tail slices.. 7. To serve, ladle the soup into bowls, place lobster slices into each bowl and garnish with cilantro or chives. Good substitute can be prawns. I would shell them and cook the shells for 10 minutes. Discard the shells and use the stock for cooking the vegetables skins in. Don't cook the prawns meat, just flambé or flash fry it as one don't want to over cook the prawns

Before going cruising on a sailboat, we heard amazing tales of sunsets, dolphins, and foreign lands. Now, after over 7000 nautical miles in just over a year, we are living the dream. Chainplates are large pieces of stainless steel that help hold up the mast. Kinda important. Before removing Miles' chainplates, we heard frightening tales involving power tools, pry bars, and Plan Cs that didn't work. Now, after a few weeks, we're living the nightmare.

We had planned to sail on the coast of Long Island towards New York City, but the waves were super choppy. It was not pleasant, bordering on dangerous. Sometimes it doesn't take large waves to make for dangerous seas. So, we gave up and took an inside passage and ended up in Hempstead, New York at Lookout Point. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We can't produce quality inspirational content indefinitely without the support of our fans. One of the best cruising catamarans available, her 42 feet size is perfect for a family. her modern design by VPLP/Le Quement?Nauta is a big improvement to older generations of Lagoon catamarans : more space, easier circulation, nicer shapes, more practical helm station...a perfect 10/10 in my view. Rebuilding a historic sailing yacht - Fitting the final planks! (EP94) Support / Donate; http://www.sampsonboat.co.uk/support Become a Patron; http://www.patreon.com/sampsonboatco ---- EPISODE 94 In this episode we hang the last of the regular planks and start making “shutter planks” - the planks that fill a gap between already fastened areas of planking above and below. These require more careful patterning, but are extremely satisfying to hammer into place if they fit properly - but will they ?! Before we hang the very final plank (the Whisky Plank!) I trim the plank ends flush with the transom, which really visually transforms the boat. Finally the Whisky plank is hammered into place, and the crew celebrates with a well earned wee dram. —- To become a Patron - https://www.patreon.com/sampsonboatco To donate or support - http://sampsonboat.co.uk/support My Amazon Wishlist http://a.co/76y5IZP For sneaky previews of what’s going on in between episodes, follow my FACEBOOK http://www.facebook.com/sampsonboatco and INSTAGRAM http://www.instagram.com/sampsonboatco. Get Surfshark VPN at https://surfshark.deals/EVANS and enter promo code EVANS for 83% off and 3 extra months for free! It's Launch Day! We've spent the past many months sanding, grinding, glassing, painting, sweating, crying, and lots of laughing...all to get to today. Today we put our once wrecked and salvaged boat back in the water, to see if it'll float again. It's a massive boat load of emotions as our car get's stuck on an elevator, we almost miss our own boat launching, and Brett gets the ride of a life time in a fighter jet! Strap in, it's go time :-) We'd be wrong not to say thanks to all of you, and especially our Patrons for helping us to afford our new camera. The Canon EOS 6dii was a total loss. The camera body, lens, 2 batteries and battery grip were all casualties to the sea. With all of you watching our videos and helping us out we were able to purchase a new Canon EOS R6, lens and battery (updated links below). It's a necessary expense if we want to keep making these videos but also a huge improvement. And though there was quite the learning curve, I think the improved video quality is noticeable even on our first uses of it in this video! Thanks for watching- With love The Evans' **************************************** *Our Boat* 2008 Beneteau 49 3 cabin 2 head 4JH4-TE Westerbeke generator Mast, sails and rig are in excellent condition and in storage Here's what we *think* we know about her past. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. What can I say? Margarida leaves and I am alone....oh well it's a sad time but I find a wise moray eel and she becomes my teacher - my moray eel teacher, and it teaches me not to dangle my fingers too close to its mouth....I am not sure what that is supposed to mean in the scheme of the things but apparently it is all the rage to have members of the animal kingdom teach us stuff....I wonder what a Great White can teach me? EP 167: We made it to the CARIBBEAN! We say adios to Fernando De Naronha and commenced on our 2000nm journey towards Grenada our first stop in the Caribbean. We would have loved to stop in Trinidad and Tobago but unfortunaetly they are closed so the next stop was Grenada. We were so excited to get onto land and this was by far the toughest journey for us mentally. We had choppy swell and a lot of squalls which mean it was over cast for most of our trip. We had to run the engines to keep the lithium batteries in their comfort zone.. We do not like to discharge below 50%. Once we got to Grenanda if felt so surreal... The day we had been dreaming of was finally in our grasp.. We had to wait another 2 days before we could check in due to waiting for Covid test results but we didn't mind, it gave us time to thoroughly clean the boat and get her livable again. The time came to say goodbye to Glen... It was not a goodbye but a see you later for sure. He was such a great asset to us and kept us smiling a lot of the time. See ya next week!! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love

At some point, every sailor will deal with anchor dragging or hitting a sandy shoal. It's just the way it goes. Let's just say that we are overachievers. After almost 8 weeks on the FKG dock we were elated to head out to the lagoon and set our brand new, 85 lb Mantus, aka "The Beast". We thought, and were told, that there was no way that would ever drag. We tried to anchor two times, but wind gusts of 35+ knots were quite challenging. On the third try, we finally dug in...or so we thought. At 2 am, I awoke from a deep sleep to an unusual noise. I woke my husband and he went to check. Thankfully he did as we had dragged about 200 feet in 4 hours to shipwreck corner, the area just in front of the airport jetty. Thankfully, our keel dug into the sand first and then the rudder. We were sideways, starboard side to the rocks. There were rocks scattered on the sand where our boat was pressed by the wind. What a scary thing to wake up to and address as new sailors. This video will show you some raw footage of our good and some not so good decisions that we made in our doped up adrenaline state. We will share what we have learned and how thankful we are for this incredible learning opportunity without much damage to the boat. #sailing #sailboat #sailingprojects #stmaarten #sintmaarten #shipwreck #shipwreckcorner #mantus NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US?
