It's a waiting game on Nikau, for the right weather window to Fiji. We have a few days in the yard giving Nikau new bottom paint. This will give her at least 2 knots more of speed! These summer days keep on rolling in and the Bay of Islands never disappoints. On this episode Naomi, our eldest daughter, flies up from Wellington (the New Zealand capital) to pick up our car and pets. Sadly they are not coming with us this time and we have to say goodbye. Exumas is an amazing archipielago, for many reasons. One of them is the endemic fauna, which counts among other species of unique species of land iguanas, that are incredibly voracious and aggressive. It also has amazing sea life, which we showcase partially in the second part of this video.

Compass Cay is a beautiful island of the Exumas, which has a unique comunity of nurse sharks and fish that roam continously around the marina. They are also highly habituated to humans and can be petted in all safety. Watch this video that is trully amazing!

When you go to the Exumas make sure you have a powerful dinghy!! Because the dinghy excursions are just fabulous!! Second to none!!

In Staniel Cay you will find a beach where pigs swim in turquoise waters and come warmly to beg to be hand fed in their mouths. Quite amazing!! An Exumas favorite!!!!

In Shroud Cay, Exumas there is a turquoise sea water river that cuts across the whole island. It is a truly unique geographical feature of incredible beauty that gives you the weird feeling of going up the Nile River with Dr. Livingston in Africa two hundred years ago!!!!

Her LOA is 19.3m and she has a beam of 4.6m with a draft of 2.98m She weighs 33t and she can cruise at 7 kts with the engine and 8-10 kts on sail depending on the wind. In this episode we attempt to haul out our Lagoon 450 catamaran which has severely broken bulkheads. She is badly bent, so we have to take extreme caution when hauling her out, as her structural integrity has been compromised. We come up with a method to try straighten her, which includes resting her bridge deck on 4 huge custom made pillars, and trying to allow her own weight to bring the hulls back down into position... This series will show never before seen footage of how we straightened and strengthened a 45ft production catamaran, in order to be able to complete a circumnavigation. We put a cherry on top of our time in Florida (and my sailing school week) with a day charter sailing experience for the whole family! Our season in the Bahamas draws to a close. We spend a week at Manjack Cay in the Abacos where we have a beautiful beach, miles of great reef to dive and few neighbors. With a last minute change of plans we set sail north leaving the Bahamas for North Carolina, then Maryland.
