Wahine, my boat, a Gib Sea 402 is having to redo a repair I did two years ago as well as having the keel bolts inspected. Distant Dreamer, a Columbia 43 and a Transpac winner in her class, had her keel bolts replaced, and it is time to reunite Distant Dreamer with her keel. All this after a 1200 KM solo drive from Tokyo! I find it all invigorating though. In this episode, Capitana KEG joins as crew and we have an evening sail to Dana Point. Record numbers of cargo ships and tankers anchored and driving off the coast make night navigation a little more interesting. After anchoring in Dana Point, Capitana KEG picks me up for a sail on Ohana, a Cal 27-2. We hoist the spinnaker (sans pole) and have a nice run off the coast. On the return, we find Keeldragger has been boarded by pirates. Not real pirates, just Eddie and Melanie getting into the booze and having a good time! We decided to vlog our first night on a sailboat because we've never even had this experience before and we are READY to buy a boat 😂😂. This week we (Kieran) discovers the beautiful atoll Makemo, I however am lying in bed sick. After being cold on my night watch coming to Makemo I got a flue and spend the next two days in bed, whilst Kieran and our friends enjoy another amazing anchorage. Kieran goes on a solo adventure in the hunt of some coconuts ashore. Does he find any? Or wait is that a red crab? When attempting to start the engine to pick up anchor we find our engine doesn’t start and we need to put all our faith into our house batteries. Being away from internet for two weeks we need to keep sailing and get on the World Wide Web again - we need to upload these videos and talk to our patrons. We take our tiny home bluewater sailing, offshore from Grenada to Sint Maarten. We are kind of like Sailing la Vagabonde, except we have a sailing dog named Roxy instead of a kid, and a monohull instead of a catamaran. We live off the grid in our tiny home, a year 2000 J Boats J/46 sailboat, which we bought in January of 2019, refit it over 6 months, then took off to sail around the world with a doublehanded circumnavigation via the capes. We continue our test sail on the Kraken 50 in the Sea of Marmara, Turkey. The task of the day is to push the boat to almost it's breaking point and see whether it can handle it! We were obviously happy to oblige and lend a helping hand in sailing it as hard as we could. At the end of the day we pulled into the seaside town of Erdik, where Dick (unknowingly) volunteered for a traditional Turkish beauty treatment. Looking crisp and clean, we continued our journey the next day and started heading towards home.
