Our third tips video, focused on cabin headlinings, specifically ones made from Vinyl with a foam backing. We show the problems we have had, what we would do differently next time and what we are going to do to finish the job. We are refitting a 44 year old Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings. We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). Now that the inside is dry (thanks to new windows, new hatches and leak chasing) we are fitting her out for live-aboard world cruising. Lots more detail on our blog at https://sustainablesailing.net/ We are on Ko-Fi! where you can support us for the cost of a coffee :-) https://ko-fi.com/sustainablesailing

We spent the weekend at Avalon Eco Resort, an off the grid, rustic, solar powered cabin. We loved hiking The Crack, the view from the top of Killarney Ridge is absolutely stunning. The immense white cliffs of the La Cloche Mountains surround you as you ascend through the cascade of huge tumbled boulders of what is known as "The Crack”. Once you reach the top of the ridge, you’ll be treated to beautiful panoramic vistas on all sides – certainly one of the best views in the park! We also hiked Lake of The Woods Trail, this loop trail encircles Lake of the Woods, traveling through a variety of forest types, from old growth stands to elevated rocky outcrops. These outcrops offer excellent views of Silver Peak, six kilometres to the west and Lake of the Woods below. At one point, the trail descends to the lakeshore where a short boardwalk connects to the lake’s only island. Finally we hiked Chikanishing Trail, this trail winds along the park’s southern boundary and crosses a series of small ridges and then ending at a wave-washed point on Georgian Bay. Vegetation is typical of the rocky, windswept terrain of Georgian Bay, though taller pine and oak have flourished in wind-sheltered spots where soil has accumulated. Old iron rings used for mooring lines during logging days can still be seen along the trail. Interpretive plaques tell the colourful history of this part of Georgian Bay. We then visited the Killarney East Lighthouse and took our boat out on Tyson Lake for some sunset fishing where we saw a beautiful rainbow!

After being down since May with Lisa's knee injury and my surprise blood clot we got out for our first sail of the Fall season. Heavy winds were predicted and we were excited to get back out there. As usual this year the winds were dead calm and arrived about 4 hours late (as we were returning to dock). All in all, it was still a fantastic day on the water and we were able to try out a few things during our launch and dock. Thanks for watching and please like, share, subscribe!

The first thing they do is to head to the Italian venue, Lake Garda. The second is to enter the world championships.......for fun. [Feature first shown in OnCourse Episode 14]

This one has been an elephant in the room for awhile, but it's time to let it all out of the closet, Jordan has left the boat and sadly has gone through a pretty horrific ship wreck a couple months after her departure. It's taken us both a lot of time to reflect on life, our relationship, her ship wreck etc before we were even able to talk about this stuff. This was an incredibly hard episode to put together as I'm sure you can imagine, sharing something so personal with friends on the internet. Thank you for all your love and support. When we first left Bonaire to sail across the Atlantic to the Azores, we never intended on stopping anywhere on the way. But after a serious week of beating into the wind, our bodies craved a break on land (as well as a burger and a beer) Our VHF broke as soon as we arrived in Bermuda, and we knew that stopping was the absolute right decision for us to make at this point. We were going to spend 5 days max in Bermuda.... we failed. This is a tale of stormy seas, learning patience, and Rum Swizzle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** GEAR WE USE ** ⛵️Our boat: Polar Seal, 2007 Beneteau Oceanis 40, owner's version (2 cabins layout).  Full tour and review of Polar Seal at: https://youtu.be/sxqKYydlxd0  🎥 Photo & Film gear Our camera: https://amzn.to/3c063hN Lavalier microphone system: https://amzn.to/2WmNvlh Image stabilizing lens: https://amzn.to/2Kiq89i Wide angle lens: https://amzn.to/2YuG8Ls Shotgun microphone: https://amzn.to/2z2zy40 Microphone windjammer: https://amzn.to/2Yt3O2M Our action camera: https://amzn.to/2ypdWyJ Action camera microphone: https://amzn.to/3c5rrm4 Our drone: https://amzn.to/2tDjRdU ⚠️ Disclosure:  Some of the links above are affiliate links. 24 HOURS at SEA With INJURED Kid - We didn't talk or show much about it during this Gennaker Sailing video but one of our biggest fears with living on the sea is that one of us gets really hurt during a crossing. Luckily Benjamin just experienced a strained muscle in his neck this time during our sailing life - which we suspected from the beginning. Even though it was a light injury one of us was almost constantly with him to support him through his pain - he had it tough. Being for longer periods on the sea, a lot can happen. Especially when the weather gets rougher and fatigue kicks in while sailing. When Benjamin was 6 months old, we flew in two doctors who trained us how to give first aid to Benjamin at sea. We got to learn that 80% of the injuries are perfectly treatable by us and we would have more than enough time to eventually reach a doctor. But with the other 20%, you need to get to a hospital within 24 hours. Which is not possible a lot of times when you live on the sea….so we felt extremely grateful for Benjamin ‘just having a strained muscle’ and that we had such a peaceful and slow sail - especially since we are in autumn and heavy weather is coming. Join us in slow sailing and a spiritual crossing, the end of our sailing Croatia family adventure - all part of our full-time travel family life. A simple life on the sea. NOTE - by accident we used photos that aren’t from Rovinj at 6:21. We never saw Rovinj by light and used Istock photos. We made a wrong turn there. Sorry for this! This is Part 2 of our Top 10 Performance Cruising Cat Review (2022 models) where we narrow it down to the Top 3 boats we would look and tell you why. Thank you all for your great comments and contribution to this video. We've updated some of our thoughts from last time (see corrections below) and included two boats that should have been part of the first review. Now it's a Top 12! Tell us, which would you pick? SURVEY: Take our 1 question survey, which boat would you buy?: https://forms.gle/tXWZEFQCNb8Wovnv7 DISCLAIMER: The views expressed in this video are our own, and we were not compensated in any way for making this video. The opinions expressed our based on the research we pulled using each boat's website, speaking with the production teams, visiting boats at boat shows and in talking to owners. While we do have a lot of respect for boats like that, we are focusing today on companies that produce a line of boats and not one-off custom jobs. But that might make for a good future video, so stay tuned! OUR ROUTE: We departed the Boston area of the United States and sailed south to the Caribbean and then west through the Panama Canal. We have dealt with massive repairs in the South Pacific, the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand, a Category 5 Cyclone in Fiji, and now we are cruising in Australia. OUR PAST: You may remember us as "SV Honeymoon?" Ten years ago ("before kids"), we sailed a Lagoon 380 named Honeymoon halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences via YouTube and, by happenstance, created one of the very first "sailing channels." We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids. FAQ: More questions?
