Today, the crew and I are exploring a hidden Caribbean gem you’ve probably never heard of: the tiny island of St. Eustatius. After sailing north from Guadeloupe, with a quick stop in St. Kitts and Nevis, we dropped anchor on this often-overlooked island in search of something different. In this episode, the new crew sets sail for the very first time as we depart Saint Lucia and point the bow toward Martinique. Due to visa complications, one of our crew members was unable to enter Saint Lucia and had been diverted to Martinique. Which means we’re throwing these rookie sailors straight into the fire… with an overnight passage to kick off the final season of Sailing Ripple Effect. Standing nearly 2,500 feet above the Caribbean Sea, the Petit Piton is a towering volcanic spire… and one of the most aggressive hikes in the entire Caribbean.
