Am vorletzten Oktoberwochenende ging es noch mal aufs Wasser. Am Auesee in Wesel hat man gute Bedingungen um den Katamaran aufzubauen und ins Wasser zu bringen. Es gibt genug Platz und eine ordentliche Slipstelle. Es war zwar ziemlich kalt, aber sonnig und einigermaßen windig. Und da es vermutlich eine der letzten Gelegenheiten für dieses Jahr sein wird, wollte ich diese auch nutzen. Außerdem hatte ich so die Möglichkeit einen neuen Gennaker auszuprobieren. Diesmal ohne Bergesystem, sondern als Rollgennaker…das hat soweit auch geklappt, wird aber nochmal ausgiebig getestet. Sollte sich die Rollvariante bewähren, werde ich sicherlich nochmal ausführlicher darüber berichten.

After a super early 2am start, we complete our journey north arriving in the scenic Punta de Mita, Banderas Bay, Mexico! The water was clear and the the sand golden, making us wonder whether we hadn't just sailed a few thousand miles in the wrong direction! Samen met Lars vertrek ik vanuit Cherbourg richting Carteret-sur-Mer. We zullen daar nooit aankomen. Onderweg ontdekken we zo'n 500 liter water in de boot en besluiten we door te varen naar Saint-Malo. Aldaar is het lek gauw gevonden en een onderdeeltje om het op te lossen gekocht. Dan kunnen we Saint-Malo in. Als we genoeg van deze stad hebben varen we Île-de-Brehat, maar een sterke wind noopt ons om toch verder de rivier op te varen. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. This week, we fix our leaking pipes, which means we have a working toilet. Thas has been the biggest reason we have been tied to a marina for so much loinger than expected, so that's a huge plus! We also get an exciting new delivery! Our new Highfield CL290 with Honda BF20 outboard - which is AWESOME. And we seem to be ready to leave the marina! At least for now!
