Bonjour, j’ai eu la chance de faire cette visite du Solaris 47 Je partage ce moment que j’ai passé sur ce bateau. Il vaut le coup d’oeil 👀
After a couple of days of grinding and welding to shape the keel leading edge, which I reduce to just a few seconds in this video, I start fitting the bronze keel bolts. Elsewhere, Hazel can be spotted doing some upgrade work for her boat, my mini lathe gets a good workout, and there's a brief mention of the water tank breather vent. This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. You make a real difference!! If you like to be part of our journey, please consider becoming a Patreon @ https://www.patreon.com/svcuba Follow us in this week’s episode of sailing CUBA as we try to invent something to keep connected to the WWW, evade some bad weather coming our way and stumble over a potentially dangerous object, on our search for a very special lady. SV CUBA is currently anchored in Sarande, Albania and we are making the best out of our proximity to shops and stores, by trying to find a way to improve our internet connection. After all it is what brings our sailing videos to your screen. Our attempt, however, does not go as planned and we soon have to lift anchor and sail to Ksamil to hide from strong winds and swell approaching. With the storm gone, we sail north to find a very special moonshine cook and accidentally stumble over some forgotten ammunition. We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany on a mission to sail around the world. We have almost no sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. Join us on our first stop, when we explore the abandoned bunkers of Albania. We are by no means film makers or video editors so please let us know what you think about our videos, what you like to see more of - or less ;-) Living on the hook sailing around the world can be a real challenge and a bit scary at times (especially when your home dangles from an iron thread just 10 mm thick). What is to come? We don't know but day by day we are learning how to live more sustainable, off-grid, more connected to nature, so we can share our adventures with you. This is the video in a series about the restoration of 100 year old historic wooden yawl Pantagruel and her owner German captain Micha. Pantagruel sunk in tropical cyclone Yasa in Fiji in December 2020, but Micha refused to let that be the end of Pantagruel and spent the next year bringing her back to life. In this video Micha guides us through the restoration he did of the hull and deck and other above deck repairs and modifications. I’ve split this story into 6 parts: Part 1) The accident Part 2) Above deck - the restoration of the hull and above deck structures (this episode) Part 3) Below deck - the restoration of the interior Part 4) The systems - fixing and replacing the systems Part 5) Fiji - Micha’s reflections on restoring a boat in Fiji Part 6) The future - Micha’s plans for the future ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A big thank you to Travel With Jaro for the footage of the cyclone Music by Marian Hutchinson ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CRUISERS CORNER Hi we're Timo & Jo and one of the things we like the most about the cruising lifestyle is the people you meet and the stories they tell you. That’s why we decided to make this series called the Cruisers Corner to bring these stories to you. If you enjoyed this video please consider supporting me on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/SailingNV If you don't like Patreon but would like to chip in for a coffee or to help me upgrade my filming equipment, click here https://ko-fi.com/sailingnv Thank you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My partner Timo and I have a story of our own... last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, which he raced in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water! Check out our Refit Series to track our progress as we release videos about our journey. Never stop to dream, never stop to sail! In this episode we navigate our sailboat in fog with near zero visibility. We use our Raymarine Axiom marine electronics and radar to help us blindly navigate through the fog out of Ria de Arousa in the Spanish Rias. We use signals to ensure other boats know where we are in case they’re sailing in the fog without radar! Once out we sail down the coast of Spain in the fog to Baiona emerging out of the fog only at the very last minute. We then spend a couple of days exploring Baiona and the huge castle there, are treated to an amazing thunder and lightning show whilst at anchor, and make an early departure for Porto encountering dolphins and possibly an Orca en route. #sailinglife #fog #navigation #sailingadventures #sailing

Adrian Crumpton from Power Boat Services, who are based at Shamrock Quay in Southampton, talks us through what's involved when refitting a boat. Whether you sail on a boat or ship, traditional navigation can be a study in frustration without practical plotting tools. When it comes to plotting courses or bearings with blazing speed, nothing tops my number one favorite tool of all time. I’ve used this one to navigate ships, power boats and sailboats in all weather. A cascading series of unfortunate events has lead us to the point where we're located in a dangerous anchorage, the engine won't start, and all 3 diesel tanks are contaminated. To make matters worse, we've been denied safe harbor by Titusville Municipal Marina, which is within sight of our disabled position, despite them having space to accommodate us. Unfortunately for us, they have a policy that unless a boat can take a mooring ball under their own power, they cannot stay at their marina - no questions asked. The only alternative is to be towed 25 miles to a sketchy anchorage filled to the brim with derelict boats where we drag anchor multiple times while attempting to set the hook. Thanks to the help of the amazing Towboat Captain and being vouched for by our buddy Josh & Marissa Long (of Long Hull Outfitters: https://www.longhulloutfitters.com/), we're able to get an "emergency slip" at Port Canaveral Yacht Club. Tambi cried tears of joy when we finally tied up after a long and arduous day filled with stress and uncertainty. From here, we'll make repairs, lick our wounds, and then head back out to complete our trip to Green Cove Springs. ~ Ben, Tambi, & Molly | "SAILBOATSTORY" * If you read this, use the words PAN PAN & PETER PAN in a comment. PS: For those wishing to offer the timeless of advice of "it's a sailboat, just sail it": 1) Just because it's a sailboat does not arbitrarily mean sailing is the right decision 2) The ICW is generally to narrow and constricted to sail effectively 3) An intermediate stay is far too loose and requires replacement 4) The cap shroud bolt is not properly installed with locking hardware 5) The headsail halyard is currently wrapped twice around the furler at the top 6) None of the lower cotter pins are in place 7) A rigging/masthead survey has not yet been completed 8) She's just not ready for safe and predictable sailing 9) We have a Towboat US policy on hand for exactly this type of situation [ SUPPORT THE CHANNEL ] https://patreon.com/sailboatstory | Join the crew and get exclusive perks! https://paypal.me/sailboatstory | Make a donation to support the channel! It’s back to the shore to measure up for the Mainsail stack pack. It’s much quicker this time as we have already made the mizzen stack pack. Then it’s back to the boat to start sewing again. We head to the jetty to fill Nutshell’s water tanks and clean the brew gear. Magnus puts down a new brew of pale ale. Peanut gets a bit of TLC and we make a plan for our technical passage to Horn Island. There’s so much to think about in this area of tides, varying wind directions, coral, rocks and narrow passages. We set sail for Horn and check it out on arrival. Magnus installs a new CO monitor and a gas detector monitor on Nutshell. Thanks for watching. Until next time. We are almost right in the middle of our wet season, we have had two floods, is this going to lead to flood number three? Only time will tell.
I return to Key West for provisions and fresh water. Following the passage of another cold front, I finally set off for the Dry Tortugas during the late afternoon, planning to do the 60-mile run overnight. As the Dry Tortugas do not offer much shelter for small craft, and the fact that any other decent anchorage is at least 10 hours sailing away, the trip must be planned with special attention to the weather, especially during the winter months when powerful cold fronts come blasting through. Once there, however, the sailor is rewarded with an anchorage of exceptional beauty. After hearing a rumor of a bat cave running deep under the island we decide to seek it out. We spend the afternoon searching by dinghy and finally run across a man living on the edge of the jungle with his family. It just so happens that the cave is on his families land and he's willing to guide us! He leads us through a narrow, winding jungle river followed by a muddy walk through the jungle where we find the entrance to the cave. We put on our cave gear (swim suits and headlamps) and are led through the darkness into a cave full of spiders and bats complete with a river running through it! After another 30 minutes of walking we reach the end of the cave and take a swim in a cold fresh water pool. Sierra loves it! This time on Sailing Intermission we continue to concentrate on safety and tested the PLBs It is our pleasure to report that they are working. Steve checked out the goodies in the ditch bag. To ease the burden on our water pump, our .75L accumulator was replaced with a 2L unit. And naturally, we did some dancing. The storm arrives at midnight. We find ourselves crashing through waves sailing upwind, but we can't slow down, we have to reach shelter before the next southerly storm arrives and that one is serious. We are in a race against the weather, sailing offshore down the Mozambique channel to South Africa, just ahead of Cyclone season. We have been sailing around the world for over 5 years after setting off from England in 2016 on board our 37ft sail boat Florence. Join us as we share the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, Sailing offshore across the Oceans and exploring remote locations with our own little tiny house.
