Dabei hoffen wir, ungeschoren an den Orcas vorbei zu kommen, die in der Meerenge von Gibraltar "lauern". Met Simone maak ik nog wat uitstapjes in de omgeving voordat ik voor een vakantie (echt waar...) terug naar Nederland vlieg. Als ik weer terug ben en Patrick ook weer aan boord is, komt Chloé aan boord als nieuwe bemanning. Van Simone nemen we in Sintra afscheid. Haar avonturen gaan verder op het land. Met koffie en pasteis de nata, de Portugese delicatesse verzachten we het afscheid. We doen nog wat klussen en bereiden ons voor op de oversteek naar de Madeira archipel. We zullen daar na een oversteek van 480 nm eerst het eilandje Porto Santo aandoen. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. The day after the show I had a morning to kill, so I decided on taking a walking tour of Southampton on a foggy morning. I walked along the old city walls and then took a long hike to see Southampton's football club stadium. I then stop off at the Mariner village for a coffee before exploring some amazing aircraft in the solent sky musem , including a spitfire and the "Beach comber", an amazing sea plane. Convertí mi fresadora en una máquina CNC. La fresadora BF 28 es una fresadora de sobremesa y es muy adecuada para convertir en una fresadora CNC. La fresadora HBM BF 28 es idéntica con la precisión Mathews PM-25MV. La conversión de esta fresadora no es muy complicada. Necesitas los husillos de bolas correctos y los motores paso a paso. El software que utilizo para controlar mi fresadora BF 28 se llama Estlcam. Estlcam es un software muy bueno si quieres empezar con CNC. Con Estlcam puedes usar un micro controlador Arduino para control CNC. Asi la conversión a CNC es muy barata y fácil. Por supuesto, también puedes usar Grbl si quieres hacer una conversión CNC con Arduino, pero para una fresadora CNC con tres ejes, Estlcam es más fácil de configurar.

Plywood is just one of those materials everyone uses on their boat. In this video I will show you the proper way to do a fiberglass layup. Using some MDO I had in the shop, and is my preferred plywood for any boat project. Its light and once sealed semi waterproof (road signs and billboards were made from MDO) Fiberglassing plywood is a lot easier than you think!! And this technique applies to all fiberglass repair, or your own boat restoration project. This type of repair can be applied to transom repair, or to replace the stringers on your boat. Even fiberglassing the bulkheads in your boat, really anytime you need to fiberglass a 90 degree angle. You will need some 1708 fiberglass and some chop strand matting to do this layup. It is crucial that you round over the top edge. Fiberglass does not like to bend at 90 degree angles. I really prefer to use a structural repair putty like total boats or hull and deck because I don't have to mess around with silica, which is very toxic to our lungs. If your using laminating polyester resin make sure you cure it with gelcoat, please don't use the PVA. I explain why in this video! Cayo Arena is also known as Cayo Paraiso. It is a great snorkeling spot and also a beginner diving spot. Depending on the tide, you may find it under the water. That day, we reached it early morning to avoid the crowd. We shared the adventure with a few French friends, both residents of RD and globetrotters in visit in the Carribean. In the shallow waters of Cayo Arena, we have seen many different species of fish and stunning corals in the deep blue waters. Such a relief to see so much life in the ocean. To reach this paradise island we boarded a lancha (flat power boat) from the fishermen village of Punta Rucia on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. It is a good 2,5 hours drive from Puerto Plata driving to the North West. Punta Rucia is a quiet village with a long white sand beach stretching between the mangroves. Punta Rucia is lost in time … according to our friends who live in the country for 20 years, it may be comparable to what Rep Dom was 30 years ago. There is now a mini market and you can find food more easily as a tourist. A few restaurants are operating too. . For the down side the littering of the popular nearby beach la Ensenada is devastating. The local spirit is here, live bands and transparent waters, but the marine pollution is not under control. The restaurants use styrofoam plates and beach visitors let all their plastic flying at sea. We left heartbroken to see one of the best RD beach littered that way. We can’t say it enough : Education is key to fight the plastic and marine pollution.

In this episode we check out the restaurant located on the southern part of Utö and then head around the island to Gruvbryggan. We love Utö it's a great place to stop for the Sauna and the Ice creams. From Utö we head back to Mörtö Bunsön, it's a popular anchorage for a reason and it's one of our favourites. ** NOW SOLD ** ‘Remain Calm’ is a 2014 Lagoon 52F flybridge in immaculate condition and now listed exclusively with YOTI Multihull, Queensland. Delivered and commissioned into Australia, Remain Calm was intelligently specified by her experienced and fastidious first owner. Her current owner gave her a large refit in 2020 in preparation for an extended cruise into North Queensland. Her current inventory is current and extensive. From the moment you board Remain Calm, there is a feeling of space and light. Her cockpit is spread across two seating areas with a separate dinette to starboard and lounging area to port. There is a wet bar, drinks fridge and ice maker forward in the cockpit. The saloon has a great sized galley to port with a cooker/oven, dishwasher, front opening fridge and very usable storage. To starboard is another huge dinette with U shaped leather seating. Centrally forward is the navigation desk with duplicate navigation instruments and engine panels. Moving below, the owners’ cabin is to starboard. Entering midships you appreciate the sheer size of this stateroom, with desk, settee and aft, a huge athwartships island bed. Forward is the superb bathroom with double washbasins, with separate toilet and enclosed shower. Midships in the port hull is a pantry with domestic size fridge/ freezer and washer dryer. Forward is another double cabin with a good-sized island double with separate ensuite and shower. Accessed privately from the cockpit is a huge guest cabin with island double and a huge ensuite and shower. The Flybridge is set up to control the whole boat. Visibility from the helm is fabulous, with all the electric manoeuvering and mainsheet winches within easy reach. At the helm is a Raymarine touchscreen GPS with radar/AIS and anchor and bow thruster controls. Her easy-to-handle rig features a carbon boom with integrated lazy-jacks and boom bag, furler self-tacking jib are all controlled from the flybridge. Remain Calm is powered by twin 75hp Yanmar diesel engines and an Onan 17.5kva genset. Also optioned at order was the 60000btu air conditioning to saloon and cabins and bow thruster. A Stella 180L/h water maker was later added to make her total self-sufficient. A large RIB can be stored on the davits, with an electric winch to operate the hoist lines. This Lagoon 52 Flybridge is an absolute turnkey Bluewater cruising catamaran, with every conceivable option fitted and is awaiting her next adventure.
