Le tout nouveau catamaran a relevé son premier défi : il a bien été mis à l’eau 14 mois seulement après le démarrage du projet. Le constructeur a d’abord abandonné le marché de la location, revu ses objectifs de production à la baisse avec 50 catamarans par an au lieu de 80, et mis en place une unique ligne de production pour ses cinq modèles. Parallèlement, le lancement du Nautitech 44 a mobilisé un panel d’une douzaine de propriétaires et concessionnaires chargés de définir le cahier des charges de ce nouveau catamaran, ensuite développé sous forme de trois modèles numériques, lesquels ont été testés grâce à la réalité virtuelle. Des moyens inédits pour ce plan qui reste néanmoins fidèle à Marc Lombard (déjà auteur de tous les autres modèles Nautitech) et à l’ADN du constructeur – nacelle courte, concept carré/cockpit Open, deux postes de barre sur les coques (désormais chacun protégé par un petit bimini, comme à bord des Excess). A l’intérieur, le design a été assuré par Christophe Chedal-Anglay – il a œuvré chez Gunboat. We are finally back in the north and activated one Summit on the air spot on our way. There was moose walking up on the SoTa spot before us. Realy Nice to se nature like this. We have been on this Sota spot before cause it is a Nice drop by spot on our way near Saltstraumen in Norway. The worlds strongest tidewater stream. It can go 20 knots turing every 6 hour where it is almost still in between.

Tout est lié à notre soif incessante de l’inconnu, nous sommes inrassasiables ! Et comment ne pas être séduis à l’idée d’aborder prochainement Hispaniola. Même si les turbulences apportées par le relief de la dernière île crées tantôt du sud, tantôt du nord dans l’est, la dominance, du vent encore faible, est suffisante pour ajuster nos voiles en ciseaux. Jusqu’à la limite acceptable de notre gennaker, 120º du vent, Black Lion semble avoir déployer ses ailes. Puis, il faut empanner pour mieux gérer les déventes et les surventes. Quand une de ces dernières approches, le plan d’eau frémit légèrement et c’est l’accélération assurée. Il n’en faut pas plus à notre hydro-générateur, pour retrouver toutes ses capacités, oubliées depuis bien trop longtemps, en cause, les sargasses des Antilles. L’addition avec les panneaux solaire est plus que satisfaisante, 50 Ampères en pointe, mais la bienséance est de courte durée, un des fémelots de notre protégé, casse ! Une faiblesse de Watt and Sea.
