In this video we welcome you back to Paikea. We want to show you our main sheet system. It's very different. Ours is a A frame maiinsheet system. We do not have a traveller. It uses 2 sheets attached to the boom winches on at the port and starboard. It is a popular system used on many older style French catamarans. This sytem is definitely not as accurate for sail trim and involves a lot of guess work. We also think it can be quite dangerous! A Expedição ANI pelo Brasil irá comemorar os 20 anos de trabalho da ONG itajaiense, que já ensinou mais de 16 mil alunos da rede pública a remar e velejar com o projeto “Navegando Pela Cidadania”. Em cada parada, os velejadores farão palestras abordando a história da ONG, a cultura náutica itajaiense, o desenvolvimento sustentável e a economia azul para o público local. “Queremos que esse projeto leve o nome da ANI e de Itajaí para outros municípios brasileiros que também desenvolvem o mundo náutico. A associação tem 20 anos de história e é um exemplo de práticas educativas e sustentáveis não só para a cidade, mas para o país inteiro.”, afirmou o ex-presidente da Associação Náutica e coordenador da Expedição ANI pelo Brasil, Claudio Copello. Durante as travessias, a equipe irá participar de duas competições importantes do calendário da vela oceânica brasileira. A primeira, Regata Aratu-Maragojipe, e a segunda, Regata Refeno (Recife-Fernando de Noronha). Além disso, o projeto prevê vagas para travessias divididas entre os 15 pontos de paradas. As pessoas interessadas poderão ter a experiência de navegação e imersão a bordo. St. Augustine transforms to magical place at Christmas time. Katy and I, as usual, had lots of work to get done and so our time exploring was limited. Between working on the computer and boat projects, we were able to do some walking and discovered one of our favorite things about this place, the lighthouse! St. Augustine's lighthouse has a rich history with a beautifully kept maritime museum and archaeological research facility that shows some of the items recovered from the ship wrecks along the coast throughout history. After our time there, we set off towards Daytona Beach and spent the last hour of daylight walking along the beach together. A question we are often asked is if we are lonely living and traveling full-time on a sailboat? Is it difficult to be without family and a grounded community?? In our experience the sailing community has been one of the biggest draws to this lifestyle, as they say friends are the family you choose! We are THE ONLY ONES here! We sail to famous Shipwreck Beach aka Navagio Beach or Smugglers Cove and find that we are the only sailboat around. The Most Amazing Beach in the World. Many tourists travel from far and wide to take a selfi or the perfect Instagram shot of the most famous beach in the world. After a very special first coffee in the morning, we decide to quickly go back to SV CUBA and pack the drone video equipment. As we fly the drone, we capture some rare drone images of this spectacular place. The MV Panagiotis has found its final resting place on this remote cove and is now the most famous shipwreck in the world. We were wondering how the crew below deck must have felt when the ship slowly drifted towards the sandstone cliffs. Zakynthos offers many spectacular beaches but this one tops it all and has become a magnet for travellers. To see it like this makes it ever so much more special to us. Hours are spent just exploring the wreck in every detail. At some point, a couple of base jumpers land on the beach but it still feels like time had stopped for us. There is no other way to reach this hidden paradise other than by boat or by parachute. Our visit to Shipwreck Bay could have not been more mesmerizing. Usually, many charter boats and day charters, sail charter or tour boats anchor near this cove and it is a wonderful place to visit in the summer to spend the day. We are Enrique (Kiki) from Cuba and Sarah (Salsa) from Germany, a sailing couple. We are living on a boat, our tiny house, creating a travel vlog as we sail around the world. We have almost zero sailing experience, but are determined to circumnavigate & share our adventures with you. We are by no means film makers or video editors so please let us know what you think about our videos, what you like to see more of - or less ;-) Sailing life can be a real challenge and a bit scary at times (especially when your home dangles from an iron thread just 10 mm thick).
