Ocean Youth Club 1992 Grand Regatta Columbus Follow the adventure of the Ocean Youth Club Greater Manchester Challenge in the 1992 Grand Regatta Columbus. We follow three vessels GMC Soren Larsen and the Kruzenshtern on their adventure from Boston to Liverpool. Ocean Youth Club / Trust Northern Ireland We set sail with the BBC on the Ocean Youth Clubs Northern Ireland Ketch Lord Rank out of Bangor Harbour. Lord Rank was an Oyster 68 built for the Ocean Youth Club, names in Glasson Dock and sailed may seasons in the Irish Sea. I was lucky to be her staff skipper for a year. Isle of Dogs Sea Cadets hight seas adventure on Solent Hero Aug 25 The Isle of Dogs Sea Cadet Unit join the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust vessel Solent Hero for three days of adventure around the Solent. We sail out the Solent to the Needles seeing the amazing rock formations. We then returned to overnight in Portsmouth where we stayed overnight before returning the Cowes. This was our fist tine ever for the Unit to sail on a yacht and an adventure froj the school and return via public transport. Watch us on the high seas. Isle of Dogs Sea Cadets sail on the Thames Sailing Barge Blue Mermaid June 2025 Our intrepid team of Sea Cadets from the Isle of Dogs, London, embark on an epic trip into history, sailing the Thames Sailing Barge Blue Mermaid. We set sail for the Thames Estuary for a week-long adventure with no engine and all the traditional trappings of a bygone era of the Barge Trade. We are expertly guided by Richard Titchner MBE and Diggory the mate for the skills of sailing, passage planning, anchoring, and seeing exciting new places. We sail to Pin Mill for an amazing sandy beach and then to the secret water on the Naze to see the basking and sliding seals. All the while we are learning the skills of the Royal Yachting Association Competant Crew course, including a night sail with the clear starlit skies. A week to remember. Radar Course Setting Up plotting you position, Electronic Bearing Line, Variable Range Marker. How to measure a distance off with the Variable Range Marker VRM, use this for plotting a distance off fix. We also explore using the Electronic Bearing Line EBL for fixes and measuring bearings. We look at how the Radar measures bearings and ranges and pulse repetition frequency. We look at how the pulse length, interval and frequency change as you move up and down ranges and why this happens.
