Presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022, the new flagship got great interest from international clients and the press. The incredible success of the latest model of the shipyard does not stop here: at the Genoa Boat Show 2022, the Grand Soleil 72 won the Design Innovation Award in the sailboat category above 10 meters in length. Having checked into Croatia we decided the first stop on our path up the coast would be the beautiful little island of Lopud, which was also perfectly situated for a day trip to Dubrovnik. Here, you seriously couldn't swing a cat in the Old Town without hitting a cat.
Atlantic Rally for Cruisers - ARC 2022 - 37 Multihulls Departing From Las Palmas! - Multihulls World
► It was an exciting start to the 37th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) today, Sunday 20 November, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as a north easterly swell gave the boats a rolling send off. In total, 138 of the 143 strong fleet took the start for the 2,700nm sail to Saint Lucia, with a long-range forecast promising good tradewinds to whisk them to the Caribbean. Over 800 crew are taking part in ARC 2022 on board a diverse fleet of cruising yachts with monohulls, multihulls and a motorboat leaving Gran Canaria today. ► Hosts of the start since the first ARC in 1986, Las Palmas Marina has come alive with the annual event once again for the two-week rally pre-departure programme. Participants have enjoyed exploring Gran Canaria, and the city of Las Palmas has been excellent for provisioning and preparing for the crossing to Saint Lucia, which is expected to take 18-20 days for the average cruiser. Rally organisers World Cruising Club have carried out safety checks for each boat and organised a varied programme of seminars and social evenings in the lead up to the start, fuelling the rally camaraderie evident on each dock of the marina. ► Over the past 48 hours in Gran Canaria, as crews made their final preparations for the start of their Atlantic crossing, strong gusting winds from the NE have built up a significant 1.5m swell; ideal for surfers, but causing some discomfort for boats on the start line today. The wind was more easterly than is typical for an ARC start, meaning it was a white sail reaching start in the 18-20 knot winds. The weather forecast for the next 24 hours shows winds around 20 knots, with higher gusts in the acceleration zone to the south of Gran Canaria. The acceleration zone extends 100NM down from the Island, where its 2000m high mountain causes significant increases in wind strengths south of the island. Skippers will need to take precautions, reefing early and navigating a more southerly route away from the strongest winds during the first 24 hours. With daylight tomorrow, they fleet should be moving into more settled trade winds, especially to the south of the rhumb line, a pattern expected to hold for at least the first week of the crossing. ► the committee vessel, the Armada española (Spanish Navy) ship Meteoro on station, the first start was for the Multihull and Open Divisions, just as the sun emerged following a cloudy morning. Despite carrying a reef or two, the performance catamarans streamed over the start making 5-6kts, led by all-electric ITA Catamaran 14.99 Nanomole (MLT) skippered by Ulrik Bjerl Nielsen from Denmark. ► As the fleet leave Gran Canaria in their wake, a classic trade wind sail is forecast as the boats head south before they turn to point theirs bows to IGY Rodney Bay Marina. From the youngest crew, aged just two years old, to the oldest skipper at over 80, the ARC sailors coming from 35 different nations will soon adapt to life on the ocean waves after a rush of pre-departure preparations. All ARC boats are fitted with YB Tracking satellite trackers, allowing family and friends to follow the fleet from the comfort of home via the ARC website or YB Races App. ► The departure of the ARC fleet sailing directly to Saint Lucia today means a combined total of 234 yachts are crossing the Atlantic under the ARC banner in November 2022. The ARC+ fleet of 91 yachts departed Mindelo, Cape Verde for their second leg of their crossing last Friday, bound for Camper and Nicholson’s Port Louis Marina in Grenada. A further 43 yachts will join the second edition of ARC January, setting sail in the new year, in a third Atlantic crossing rally organised by World Cruising Club, sailing from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia. ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! Navigator Cruises are perfect for under 35’s! Island hop the Croatian coastline by day and party at incredible destinations by night onboard some of the liveliest boats on the Adriatic for 7 epic days! Navigator Cruises are available on 3 different routes, departing from and returning to, Split or Dubrovnik. Our Split Return South Route will take you through the islands of Hvar, Korcula, and Mljet, as well as the mainland destinations of Split, Dubrovnik, and Makarska. Split Return South Itinerary: Day 1 Split: Check-in at Split Port from 10.30am Day 1 Hvar: Depart Split harbour at 13:00 as lunch is served onboard followed by a swim stop at one of the secluded bays en route to Hvar. Hvar is the longest island in the Adriatic and is famous for its super-yachts and celebrity status. Climb the hill and explore the 16th Century Fortress ruins overlooking the harbour, before checking out the famous Hvar nightlife, which includes the likes of Nautica Bar, Hula Hula Bar and Carpe Diem. Day 2 Korcula: We depart Hvar early on day 2 and sail south to one of the bays near Loviste on the Peljesac peninsula, for a refreshing swim. We'll then continue on to Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo, where we will spend the night. After dinner, we'll work our way towards Dos Locos bar for the best street party atmosphere on the island before following the locals inside the Old Town walls to continue the party! Day 3 Dubrovnik: After breakfast, we depart for Dubrovnik. Enjoy the beautiful sights as we cruise towards "heaven on earth" - according to the famous writer George Bernard Shaw. We arrive in Dubrovnik early afternoon. Explore the 13th-century old town, with its 1,940m long city walls and discover hidden gems such as cafes perched along the walls, where you can sit back and watch the sunsets. Later in the evening, there are plenty of late-night hangouts to keep you awake into the early hours. Day 4 Dubrovnik: Enjoy a full day of exploring and relaxing (or recovering) in Dubrovnik. Stroll through the Old Town, have a drink at a Buza Bar or go up Srd Hill via cable car, to overlook the beautiful walled city that is Dubrovnik. Day 5 Mljet: We leave Dubrovnik in the morning and head north through the Elaphite islands, where we will stop for a swim before heading onto Mljet National Park. We arrive in the late afternoon, giving you time to explore the stunning salt lakes in the National Park and relax on this peaceful island. Day 6 Makarska: Today we will sail back up the Dalmatian coast to the Makarska Riviera. We spend the afternoon swimming at one of the beautiful bays along the way, before arriving into Makarska in the afternoon. Makarska nestles under the massive peaks of the Biokovo mountain range, with Mt Jure being the highest seaside peak on the Mediterranean. Nights in Makarska are reserved for pirates and sailors! Get ready for drinks onboard with your shipmates before heading out on the town! Our top recommendation: head to the infamous club "Deep", a natural cave next to the sea which rocks full of pirates and sailors into the wee hours! Day 7 Split: From Makarska, we make our way back to Split, stopping for a swim and onboard lunch at one of the secluded coastal beaches along the way. Your ship will dock in Split in the afternoon, allowing you the early evening to explore Split and it's UNESCO protected Diocletian's Palace, complete with Roman architecture dating back to the 4th Century! Day 8 Split: This morning it's time for an early onboard breakfast, before saying goodbye to the crew and all of your new friends. If you're looking for a 7-day Croatian party cruise, check out our Navigator Cruises: https://www.sail-croatia.com/croatia-cruises/navigator-cruises
Experience the best of an Explorer Cruise with Sail Croatia! Perfect if you're looking for a blend of sightseeing, relaxing and socialising, this cruise is best-suited to young professionals and those that are young at heart! The Explorer Cruise operates on three different routes; Split Return South, Split to Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik to Split, all 7 days long. The destinations visited on the Split Return South route can be found in the sample itinerary below: Day 1 Split: Check-in at Split Port from 10.30am, with the cruise departing at 1pm sharp. Day 1 Makarska: We'll have lunch onboard as we sail down the Dalmatian coast to the Makarska Riviera. Your first afternoon will be spent swimming at one of the beautiful beaches along the Riviera. The ship will overnight in the port of Makarska, one of the most beautiful destinations on the Croatian coast. Makarska nestles under the massive peaks of the Biokovo mountain range, with Mt Jure being the highest seaside peak on the Mediterranean. Strolling along the streets of Makarska, you will come across numerous churches and other architectural sights. For nightlife options, there is the cocktail bar Marineta and for late-night takers, there is "Club Deep" set in a natural cave next to the sea. Day 2 Korcula: After breakfast we set sail for Korcula, the rumoured birthplace of Marco Polo. Lunch will be served onboard near Lumbarda bay, on the eastern side of Korcula island. We will overnight in the port of Korcula Town. Explore this fortified town, with its narrow streets and lookout towers and spend your afternoon understanding the island hosting legends, myths and tales. The town's stone walls were built over two centuries ago, and the Old Town is built in a fishbone structure that you have to see to believe. Day 3 Dubrovnik: We leave Korcula behind and set sail for Dubrovnik, dubbed "heaven on earth" by the famous writer, George Bernard Shaw. We arrive in Dubrovnik in the early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore the 13th century Old Town. Walk the impressive 1,940m long city walls and discover hidden gems such as cafes and bars perched along the walls, where you can sit back with a cold drink and watch the sunset. Day 4 Mljet: We set sail early this morning and head toward the beautiful National Park island of Mljet. Once docked, you are free to explore the salt lakes within the National Park. Inside the National Park you are able to visit the isle of St Mary, which is home to an ancient Benedictine monastery, an old abbey and a church dating back to the 12th century that are just waiting to be explored. The National Park is best discovered using a bicycle or kayak that can be hired within the park grounds. Day 5 Hvar: Early this morning we'll depart for the Pakleni Islands where we have lunch onboard and stop for a swim in the crystal clear water. Hvar is the longest island in the Adriatic and is famous for its super-yachts and celebrity status. Climb the hill and visit the 16th Century Fortress ruins overlooking the harbour, explore a Renaissance Cathedral with its original tower or discover the oldest community theatre in Europe! The town of Hvar offers plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes that are open well into the night. Day 6 Stari Grad: For our second night on Hvar island, we moor overnight in the quaint harbour town of Stari Grad or in the pretty port of Jelsa (depending on local harbour traffic). Situated on the northern side of the island, Stari Grad literally means 'Old Town' and it is the oldest town in Croatia. Stari Grad boasts an attractive network of old narrow streets and small squares around the harbour. Vineyards and olive groves surround the town and the Stari Grad Plain is a UNESCO protected World Heritage Site. Jelsa dates back to the 1300s and was a significant trading port for the island's wine and olive oil. It nestles at the foot of thickly wooded hillsides. Both ports have plenty of restaurants and bars to explore, with some overlooking the harbour itself and others tucked away in the side streets. Day 7 Split: From Stari Grad/Jelsa, we make our way back to Split, stopping for a swim and onboard lunch at one of the hidden coastal beaches along the way. In this Episode, Scott "Woolly", David, and Timothy join as crew. In spite of a gale warning, we encounter light winds and fly the asym spinnaker to the island. We have a small craft advisory on the return but are again faced with light winds and chill sailing.
Boat preparation, Sailing Croatia, Aussie friends, Island hopping, Partying, Ultra Beach Music Festival, Beach Clubs, SUP Competitions, Beach Fun and Lots of Drinks! This week we do loads of boat prep before picking up some of our Bestie's from Australia! Unfortunately we have some strong wind headed our way for day 1 of our very own Sail Croatia, we're nervous! We check out a few beautiful beaches on the Island of Vis and party with our boat neighbours before sailing onto the Pakleni Islands where we have a paddle boarding competition. We finish off with one of Europe's most famous Music festivals, Ultra beach! This one's a little different than usual, we were a bit slack with filming everything as it was such a busy time with our friends and we also really want to soak it all in but I tried to tie it all together nicely with lots of story telling :) Hope you enjoy! Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane. However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on. We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit #sailing #boatlife

#sponsorshipopportunity #plasticpolution #theoceanscleanup This week we bring to you the Lagoon 42. This is a beautiful boat with so many features but not the one for us. Sometimes just doesn’t feel right, the layout might be great for many people but doesn’t appeal to us. We also talk about the migrants in Greece as we found a dingy on the beach. A huge path of plastic that will be there for a 100,000 years. Carla also tells you how she would like to be part of The Oceans Clean Up non profit organisation. On our next journey around the world we want to collaborate with their research of the big plastic path on the Pacific Ocean. Something that we are starting to look into it. If you have any idea on how we could help or know anyone from the organisation please let us know in the comments below. Consider to subscribe to our channel to help us to keep producing these free videos for you! Follow our blog with our daily adventures on Facebook . We are really enjoying this life and sharing everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.
The surmounting boat problems and stressors of the sailing life have slowly worn on the crew..and they are ready to blow off some steam! Before the trip, this three-month sailing excursion was only something they could have dreamed of. But now that they are living it, they have been able to see that it's not always sunshine and rainbows being in close quarters with the same three people for months at a time. Cody reflects on the trip at large while admitting that he hasn't really been himself the past couple of weeks, while the girls hit the town and get ready to PARTY! Let's just find out what Saint Vincent and Grenada have to offer as they sample the nightlife before the ship sails to the next location! This is the Sun Hung Kai Scallywag Team's day at the RHKYC's Annual Round The Island Race. The winds were light so, no record this year. But the team is reading for their big programme in 2023 & 2034. Europe here they come. The yachts are being readied for competition. The 100 is getting a new makeover and the Tri 60 is also for new appendages. David Witt and the team are busy so watch out next year.
The next episode is now live on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/posts/when-everything-74898101 This episode opens with a visit to the nearby white sand beach in our anchorage where Bill flies the drone over turquoise crystal clear water and Grace admires a collection of shells, fish bones and various marine skeletons. They are displayed on a rock shelf inside a large cave on the beach, collected by visitors over time. Located in the Sea of Cortez, between Mexico’s western coast and the Baja California Peninsula, we're pleased to be exploring this new spot, anchored in water considered to be among the world’s most biologically diverse. Next we head out on our first scuba dive in the Sea of Cortez on this bright and sunny day. We dive the wreck of the Fang Ming and are blown away by the amount and variety of sea life who have made a home in the sunken vessel. The story of the Fang Ming and it's sad history is on our minds as we make our way through the ships' hold. After our amazing dive we head over to OneLife aka the Internet Cafe to use their Starlink and do some work. Before long night fall is upon us and Grace prepares dinner aboard Calico Skies which will be fish tacos using yesterday's remaining Grouper catch. We're preparing for a night dive which will be Grace's first ever. We set out as the sun goes down and head back to the same spot we dove earlier, the Fang Ming wreck. As darkness rises we enter the water and make our way 72 feet down where the ship lies. At night the wreck feels completely different and we're thankful to have become familiar with the vessel during day light hours. As we explore the wreck we are completely surprised to find a large amount of turtles who've made 'beds' in various parts of the ship and for the most part, are all dead asleep. It is so amazing to be able to get so close to these large gentle giants as they snooze and a truly incredible experience. All around the ship the fish move slowly, many sleeping and barely moving. We disturb a moray eel in his bed, a deep hole in the ship. The darkness is illuminated by plankton or shrimp and the movement of these creatures all around us is trippy. We surface after the amazing dive and ride home on the dinghy as a gigantic orange moon rises, a surreal experience. The next day it's back to reality as Bill works on the Honda generator which hasn't been running smoothly lately. He takes it apart, finds algae growth which he removes. Then he cleans the carb and jets and reassembles everything. Voila it works! That means the a/c goes back on and life resumes again! 0:00 Intro 0:56 The Sea of Cortez 3:10 Diving the wreck of the Fang Ming 5:54 Internet Cafe is open! 7:43 Grace's First Night Dive 9:31 This weeks sponsor: Kamikoto 11:01 Back to the show..Grace's First Night Dive 15:06 Repair, Repair, Repairs 🙃 18:15 Generator is repaired, air con is on! ~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Enjoying our channel?
