We keep sailing south down Baja California. We actually get to sail without the motor, but we hit the biggest seas yet and some feel sick onboard! Once we get to land, we find the most beautiful remote beaches and dolphins to greet us along the way!

After a substantial weather delay, we departed Norfolk, Virginia, on November 12th and sailed to Exuma, Bahamas! Our Gulf Stream crossing was rough, but we lucked out with beautiful weather for the remainder of the trip. The engines had approx 500/498 on the test day and were serviced the day after our test. These 3600 Sport Yachts are perfect for someone who intends to do most or all of the driving solo as it is a very manageable size and when combined with the bow thruster and electric anchor windlass you can get the boat where you want her and relax. Underway as the name suggests she gets along at a good clip with 25 -27kt cruising speeds no worries. You should see top speeds of around 30 - 32kts depending on how you have loaded and trimmed the boat. Overall I felt that this Riviera is a relaxing boat to drive and if you are picturing yourself going further and staying out for longer then this may be the perfect upgrade for you. Ep 2: Eleven days stranded on a mud bank in the middle of a mile wide river. One crew member needed to be rescued. We needed food and water to survive. This inadvertent adventure set us back on preparations to start our Long Way Down journey to the Med, but it did confirm a few things - 1) this boat is great in shallow water and does beach upright; 2) we could survive each other in close quarters alone: 3) NEVER expect the short voyage to be exactly what you expect and PREPARE for the unexpected. Alison is a real trooper and mucked in with all the chores and managed to remain positive in trying moments. She overcame her fear of the mud walk and lived to tell the tale. Well done Alison!
