Nach vier Monaten auf Curaçao kann es endlich für uns weiter gehen. Und dieser Törn nach Kolumbien ist eigentlich nicht ohne und gehört zu den gefährlichsten Segelgebieten der Welt. Kein Wunder also, dass wir und unsere Segelfreunde sehr genau auf die Wettervorhersagen geschaut haben. Viel Wind bedeutet hier nämlich oft auch hohe, steile Wellen. Außerdem entstehen genau um das Kap von Kolumbien oft Gewitter mit sehr vielen Blitzeinschlägen. Da wollten wir alle nichts riskieren und haben in Kauf genommen, weniger zu segeln, aber dafür sicher anzukommen. Und dennoch - zwei Gewitter haben uns erwischt... After watching her pregnant and climbing over the lifelines on our monohull Latitude for a few months - we decided to go all in - and buy a catamaran. A very original restaurant in Papeete, Tahiti. The Belvédère restaurant created many years ago is under new ownership & management since 2020. The young couple is very active at upgrading the place. You now have a nice swimming pool you can enjoy as well as special musical evenings like the one in this video. The restaurant is located way up above Papeete, giving it a fantastic sunset over the city. The ride itself is interesting. If you like original restaurants, this one is up there ! Other than a dip in the pool, you can play bocciball, foozball, pool table, darts and more. Food is good with a simple menu of tapas and fondue bourguignone /cheese fondue. We are Kathrin and Daniel sailing, cruising and living aboard our sailing yacht SV Polaris Helvetica, a 14m Bavaria Cruiser 46 from 2017. We left our native Switzerland and moved to the UK almost two decades ago. In 2021, in our mid 50-ies and after our three boys left the nest we made the big decision to leave the rat race in London and to make our beloved sailboat our primary floating residence. Over the years we added a generator, got rid of the propane gas cooker and replaced it with an electric stove and oven, changed our house battery bank to Lithium (LiFePo, Lithium Iron Phospate), added a 1,200W solar arch and a water maker. With these upgrades Polaris is now a comfortable home allowing us to cruise the coast of the United Kingdom and, most recently, Scoland, in comfort, summer and winter. Kathrin loves to cook and bake on board, you will see some of her cookery wonders across our episodes, and makes good use of her Thermomix cooker. We totally fell in love with our new lifestyle although we had to make some tough decisions. We vacated our rental house in London and sold and gave away all our furniture and belongings that had no space on Polaris. It is a very liberating feeling to be able to say that all we own is with us on our small sailing boat. There's nothing else to care about. We enjoy our freedom and exploring new places, discovering their history and we love making new friends along our way.

El momento decisivo ha llegado! Salimos finalmente a lo que va a ser nuestra mayor travesía hasta la fecha: La Coruña - Dublín. Los delfines nos acompañan durante todo el viaje y... Bueno no son los únicos mamíferos que nos encontramos. El primer dia navegamos de ceñida con un viento bastante fuerte que fue calmándose hasta desaparecer por completo. Ahí tuvimos que encender el motor para seguir, lo que nos permitió descansar para la segunda parte de la singladura. La convivencia se hizo amena, hubo momentos para todo. Leer, dormir y comer fueron las tareas más frecuentes, considerando dormir como una "tarea" ya que no es fácil conseguirlo con el movimiento. Esta primera parte nos sirve para añadir mejoras pendientes en nuestra lista de trabajos para hacer a Wayra una vez lleguemos a puerto... Esperamos que os guste :)

For more info visit: https://noblesse.yachts/regattas/ 15mR HALLOWE'EN 1926 Launched in 1926, the 24.7m cutter Hallowe'en was designed by William Fife III for Lt Col JFN Baxendale to compete in the ORC FastNet. William Fife III, designer of many classic yachts that race today, is quoted as saying "Halloween is the perfect gentleman's yacht." The second Fastnet Race was won by Hallowe'en, which crossed the line approximately 10 hours before its competitors. This record stood until 1939 when it was shortened, crossing the Needles Channel instead of going around the Isle of Wight's east coast, as had been the practice since 1925. William Fife rigged the yacht as a Bermudan cutter with a low aspect ratio in an age when gaff-rigged racers dominated. In the following years, she continued to experiment with her rig, altering her mast and boom heights until she was eventually transformed into a yawl. With her yawl-rigged design, COTTON BLOSSOM IV dominated ocean racing for many years and held significant records. Following years of racing in the Mediterranean, she was bought by Norwegian industrialist Alfred Larsen and returned to the Atlantic. She was helmed many times by future Norwegian King Prince Olaf, making her the official yacht of the Royal Norwegian Racing Club. In 1938, she crossed the Atlantic and disappeared from radar. Later, Cotton Blosson IV was discovered by Walter Wheeler, renamed Cotton Blosson IV, and headed to New Port, Rhode Island, where she waited for a much-needed refit as part of the Classic Boat Museum. Hallowe'en was left in need of new ownership after five years working in New Port, and she returned to the Mediterranean, where Elizabeth Meyer (owner of J-Class Endeavour) helped to find a buyer. She has been refitted (and owned) a number of times since then, with the most recent in 2009 at Fairlie Restorations, UK. The boat is now available for charter with Noblesse Yachts in the Mediterranean, where she competes competitively in the classic regatta circuit stretching from France to Corsica, Spain, and Italy. In 1994-1995, she underwent some major cosmetic surgeries in France, and again in 1998-1999, but she looks better now than ever in her long and storied life. Those who are looking for a truly excellent and fast vintage wooden sailing yacht will enjoy the experience aboard Hallowe'en 12mR (NAME TBA) The "12 Metre class" means a rating class for racing yachts designed in accordance with international rules. This allows boats in a class to compete fairly while retaining the freedom to experiment with their designs. A "12 Metre" boat doesn't refer to any one measurement of the boat, nor does it refer to its overall length. It is simply a calculation based on the parameters defined in the formula governing its design and construction. The average 12 Metre class boat is 65 to 75 feet long (about 20 to 23 m) and is sloop rigged, with a mast approximately 85 feet high (26 m). It was in 1907 that the first 12 Metres were built. Olympic Games in 1908, 1912, and 1920 featured the 12 Metre class, but few boats participated. It is best known as the design of the America's Cup boats from 1958 to 1987. In order to maintain competitiveness, the boats must be in compliance with the formula of the 12 Metre class. There are various factors to take into account when designing a boat, such as sail area, waterline length, and girth (the measurement around the yacht from one sideboard, over the keel, and back again to the original sideboard). The measurements are then weighted according to the formula. Measurements combined must be less than or equal to 12 metres. J105 Fleet 1 hosted the 2022 J105 North American Championship and it was a great Fall regatta - warm with enough breeze to be exciting but not so much that gear failure decided the racing. With eleven races and no throw outs, every point was very important and in many cases a team's final standing came down to how they did on the last race. The San Francisco Yacht Club was the host venue and they made the shoreside time special with lots of time and space for sailors to mingle to discuss the day's racing or to take part in the morning debrief. La isla de Noro forma parte del archipiélago de SÁLVORA, en la ría de Arosa, Galicia. La ría de Arosa se caracteriza por un canal central muy profundo, pero aproximarse a sus costas es muy peligroso. Vaya casualidad, sus zonas más bonitas están llenas de rocas en las que podemos destrozar nuestros barcos. Era el año 2003 y yo venía de una época de mi vida de infortunio. Tras un divorcio complicado, sobre todo económicamente, encontraba un trabajo muy bien remunerado. Cuando algo va mal, siempre pensamos que no puede ir peor. Pero no es así. Puede que sí y puede que no. Y esta vez salió mal. Salimos a navegar en la mañana de un domingo de junio. El armador trajo a un marinero oriundo de la ría para que me enseñara a entrar en las calas. No se informó bien y resultó ser tan conocedor como aseguraba. Fuimos a las calas de O Grove, a continuación, a Cambados y al rato el armador dijo: “vamos a Noro” Le hice saber que ni me sonaba el nombre. Se hizo cargo el “práctico” “sei eu…” Entramos perfectamente pero, al salir, cuando todo parecía libre de peligro tocamos en un bajo. ¿Nos hundimos? Dijo el armador. No lo se, tengo que revisar… Teníamos dos vías de agua y nos íbamos a hundir irremediablemente. Decidimos varar el barco en la calita que hay en la isla de Noro. Episode 8: This week was full of rain so during the one day off we hit the road and headed for the hills. We drove from Prcanj, Montenegro to Pavlova Strana Viewpoint then onto a National Park Lake Skadar. From there we had a quick stop in Bar then decided to enjoy the sunset in Budva, Montenegro. This is a beautiful drive especially with all the leaves turning in the fall. We share several amazing naturescapes and found a hidden waterfall. We love stopping and checking out bridges, you never know what you’ll find when you take the time to pause for a quick moment on the drive. So worth it. No sailing affords us the opportunity to explore Montenegro by land and we are going to continue to do just that. More fun land adventures coming next week so make sure to stay tuned.
