The 2023 season is coming to an end (yes our videos are that far behind?.weve been busy living ???????), and another stint of major renovations is looming. So it's timely that our last sail of the season is our best sail so far?.we need the motivation to get us through the next few months of boat work. Plus we make some great new sailor friends along the way??
We've been touring and working on the boat in Turkey for 3 months, it's definitely a place we want to visit again in the future as we've only scratched the surface in terms of things to do and see. That said, it's time to cross the border back into Greece, and find a place to leave Galene for the winter months while we once again wait out the Schengen clock.
In this episode we look back to Summer 2023 when we spent a number of weeks in Marmaris, Turkey upgrading our Amel Sharki sailboat. If you're interested in the process for servicing an offshore life raft, or replacing standing rigging....this may be the right kind of episode for you. Thanks for following and enjoy!
Join us as we cruise along the South East coast of Turkey aka the Turkish Riviera, and highlight a few of our favourite (and a not so good) anchorages with buddy boat SV MAD2.
You might think we've been "missing in action", but the truth is we've been focussed on some major boat upgrades and repairs these past few months. While Galene now looks like new, inside and out, it's taken its toll on our physical and mental health and well being. Here's a quick video to bring you up to date. Thanks for watching! Pete & Deb

We're Cruising Again! (Greece to Turkey) and we ruined our new paint job in just 5 days - S2 | Ep 21
After 10 long months in the boat yard we are finally free to slip the lines and make a mad dash out of Greece and EU Schengen zone, to Turkey. Not surprisingly this turns into a "shakedown" cruise with numerous pieces of equipment failing, but we were not expecting to ruin our shiny new paint job along the way...
It's been 10 long months in Corfu Yacht Yard and we are beyond ready to leave. However, there are still a number of last minute tasks to manage, along with our feelings of excitement and trepidation about finally splashing....like, do we even know how to operate and sail a boat anymore?!!!
In this episode we tackle our biggest boat job yet on Galene, a new hull paint job, and despite all the of research, preparation and hours and hours of labour involved, we fail to get the result we hoped for....it was devastating.

We're busy pulling the place apart and getting down and dirty in this episode, but we take a forced break for some sight seeing, and another to witness what can only be described as an heroic rescue in our back yard!
With a long list of jobs and a short amount of time...Pete has to decide whether its time to give up or just keep slogging away at it. On the upside, the holding tank/bathroom woes are over....or so we thought!

After almost 3 months away from Galene, we return to the boat yard in Corfu to commence work on a long list of maintenance and upgrade work. Feeling a little overwhelmed by the magnitude of tasks we've set ourselves, we decide to hold our noses and start with the dirtiest of boat jobs first! Viewer discretion advised; there are a number of expletives used to describe the task at hand!
The first year aboard Galene was hard, really hard for us newbie sailors / live-aboard cruisers. It's easy (and natural) to feel overwhelmed and frustrated, even a bit sorry for yourself at times. That said, there are moments when you're realize what you're doing is pretty special. Check this one out!
We've been patching some major repairs together with spit and duct tape all summer, but circumstances outside our control force us to haul out, and we know deep down its for the best.
Our first sailing season is drawing to an early close and we manage to see some of Albania on our way to our final destination of Corfu, Greece. The truth is we are dealing with some heavy issues, but we try to find moments of joy and are very thankful for a little help from our friends!
