Check with your supplier of head gasket if you should or not should use jointing compound. If you use a Yanmar gasket you should not use compound. I use a Sunity and should use. Hylomar I used. The head nuts shall be tighten in steps diagonally, not to the final value at once. Tightening torque differs between the service manual for YSE8 and YSM8. More than I have used the higher YSM8 value by misstake. Not clear if the higher applies to both or not

Just a quick video showing some actual sailing! The weather today has been absolutely stunning both for sailing and for just being a human. For those interesting, the sail shown in this video is a North Sails asymmetrical spinnaker made from Norlon 150 and 250 cloth. We will normally sail it off the longeron (fixed now sprit), but since the wind was dead behind us, we have the tack on the starboard bow. A quick overview of our main galley appliances. We opted for an all electric galley and most of our cooking is done with our all-in-one oven and our countertop induction cooktops. We didn’t want to build anything in, because when those appliances break, it’s a bit of a mission to find replacements that fit without a lot of carpentry work. The dishwasher is a Loch Electronics Capsule. We think it’s going to work great for us after the crossing and it has worked very well the handful of time we have used it, I guess it’s just more of a “will we use it.”  The all-in-one is an LG Solardom MA3884VC. Microwave oven Convection oven Grill Steam cooker And it does combos of some of the above too, which can be a very quick and efficient way to cool some things The induction tops are Snappy Chef ZC-6C1. These will be hard to find outside of South Africa I believe. But, there are plenty of them out there. We went with two individual burner units so that we had redundancy and also the ability to use two full size pans when needed. The other appliance we didn’t mention in the video is an Instant Pot 5 quart duo crisp with air fryer. Again, it does a bunch of functions, it’s very energy efficient and it doesn’t heat up the galley. Thanks for watching! Want more? Owner Skip Armstrong and Joah go aboard Tradition for a meeting. We plan for haul out in mid April. On our to do list are Mast Steps, and new Running Gear, as well as a bottom job. After she goes back in the water we should be able to begin to sail her again, and shake out other issues that present themselves. Welcome back to Naval Gazing at Camp David. Boat: Lagoon Sixty-5 Wine: Château Du Moulin Rouge, Cru Bourgeois Supérieur The story of Château du Moulin Rouge is of one family's passion for winegrowing. No fewer than 13 generations have worked hard to grow vines, to use the best possible winemaking methods, and to modernise the facilities. Created in the 18th century, the estate is in an exceptional location. The vines stretch over 27 hectares of beautiful gravelly rises with plenty of sunshine and a microclimate influenced by close proximity of the Gironde estuary. At the present time, two generations – parents and their children – add their personal contributions, ideas, and expertise to perpetuate the family heritage. They attach a great deal of importance to traditional, quality-oriented methods in the vineyard, in much the same way as the great growths bordering on Chateau du Moulin Rouge. In 2015, the estate adopted the Bordeaux EMS (Environmental Management System) and obtained level 3 HEV (High Environmental Value) certification. Grapes are entirely harvested by hand at Château Moulin Rouge. More traditional and less brutal than mechanical harvesting, this means that the bunches are picked whole and unbruised, and only once they have achieved the desired degree of ripeness. An initial sorting is done in the vineyard, during picking. Selected bunches are then brought to the vat room to be destemmed and sorted twice again before being crushed and pressed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.. Every vat is tasted each morning in order to achieve just the right degree of extraction. Once alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation are finished, it is time for the delicate operation of blending wines from the various vats. The best ones are put into French oak barrels, one third of which are new every year. Barrel ageing lasts for 12 months. The wines are once again blended at this point, then racked with egg whites in the time-honoured Médoc tradition. The wine is bottled in June. Château du Moulin Rouge has a lovely, deep, ruby-red colour. The complex, powerful bouquet features hints of spice and ripe fruit, as well as delicate understated oak. The wine starts out quite elegant and well-structured on the palate, going on to display ripe tannin and a fine long aftertaste. He applied these colours with a palette knife, neatly capturing the effect of the light through the waves. Van Gogh was enthusiastic about the colours of the Mediterranean Sea. He wrote that it 'has a colour like mackerel, in other words, changing – you don't always know if it's green or purple – you don't always know if it's blue – because a second later, its changing reflection has taken on a pink or grey hue'. The bright red signature has been placed prominently in the foreground: it was intended as a 'red note in the green'.

Disney's Pyewacket70 (USA) has won Monohull Line Honours in the 2023 RORC Caribbean 600 with a time of 42 hours 45 mins 06 secs, becoming the fastest boat in the Disney dynasty and the first to take this title in the event. The latest Pyewacket70 is a turbo-charged Volvo 70 that features a taller mast, lighter hull, and deeper keel than the original box-rule. Con un distacco di appena 11 secondi, il MOD70 rivale Zoulou, con a bordo Loick Peyron, si è aggiudicato la Line Honours dei multiscafi al termine di un’estenuante battaglia di manovre tra le isole delle Piccole Antille. Giovanni Soldini, insieme a Guido Broggi (ITA), Oliver Herrera Perez (ESP), Thomas Joffrin (FRA), Francesco Pedol (ITA), Alberto Riva (ITA), Matteo Soldini (ITA) e Lucas Valenza-Troubat (FRA), ha navigato in assetto volante a medie di 21 nodi, con picchi di 40, dominando nel complesso una corsa testa a testa con gli avversari francesi. Il commento di Giovanni Soldini all’arrivo: “Prima di tutto complimenti ai nostri avversari. Sono state 600 miglia pazzesche e abbiamo fatto una regatona, costruendo miglio su miglio, tanto che alla boa a nord di Antigua avevamo accumulato un distacco di circa 13 miglia, poi però girata la boa è finito il vento, e gli avversari che sono passati un’ora più tardi ce li siamo visti sfilare accanto a 28 nodi, mentre noi andavamo a 5. Nell’ultimo bordo di bolina, Maserati Multi70 e Zoulou hanno dato vita all’ultimo atto di un match race mozzafiato che ha ricordato amaramente il fotofinish dell’edizione del 2022, quando con meno di due minuti di distacco Maserati Multi70 si era visto sfilare la vittoria e il record di velocità di regata da Argo che tutt’ora detiene il primato di 1 giorno, 5 ore, 38 minuti e 44 secondi. La regata, per la classe dei multiscafi è partita lunedì 20 febbraio 2022 alle ore 11:30 ora locale (15:30 UTC, 16:30 ora italiana). MOD70 Zoulou Wins RORC Caribbean 600 Multihull Line Honors Race in Thrilling Finish. After sailing for more than 30 hours and reaching speeds of nearly 40 knots, the MOD70 Zoulou skippered by Erik Maris from France secured the Multihull Line Honours victory in the 2023 RORC Caribbean 600 race by a mere 11 seconds. Zoulou finished the 600-mile course in just under 31 hours, while Giovanni Soldini’s Maserati Multi70 (ITA) came in second place, just like they did the previous year, after yet another photo-finish. Zoulou's crew consisted of Erik Maris, Ned Collier Wakefield, Thierry Fouchier, Loick Peyron, Bruno Jeanjean, Bruno Mourniac, and Thomas Le Breton. Despite leading until midnight on the first day, Zoulou lost to Maserati when the latter was fast on their foils heading down to Guadeloupe. However, Maserati encountered a setback on the penultimate leg when they got lost under a cloud, just as Zoulou had experienced during the RORC Transatlantic Race. The two boats battled it out and exchanged leads many times on the leg to Redonda, making for an exhilarating race. The last leg was particularly challenging, as the wind speed and direction were unpredictable, but Zoulou eventually passed Maserati to win the race. "That was an incredible race with such a close finish," Maris said after the race. "It was as close as it gets; an incredible finish and great fun." The win was part of Zoulou's plan to compete in all RORC races, with the Rolex Fastnet Race set to be their next challenge. The RORC Caribbean 600 is one of the most challenging offshore races in the world, and this year's race lived up to its reputation as the multihull boats battled it out in intense conditions. The race covers a 600-mile course around 11 Caribbean islands, with a diverse range of conditions and challenges, making it a true test of both sailors and boats. #Caribbean600
