In dieser Episode der Sailingsomeday Sommerreise sind wir für ein Paar Tage in Kopenhagen. Von der Marina in Kopenhagens Osten namens "Lynetten" sind wir in der Stadt unterwegs und pendeln mit Fähre, Bus oder Metro in die Stadt. Dabei machen wir Abends eine erste kleine Besichtigung der Stadt und schauen uns den weltbekannten "Tivoli Gardens" Park an. Neben dem ganzen Sightseeing bleibt dann auch noch etwas Zeit für Arbeit am Boot, denn die AIS Antenne hat während der Nachtfahrt recht oft ein Störsignal gesendet - und dieses Problem will behoben werden. Außerdem kümmern wir uns noch um den Rollmechanismus der Genoa. Peter McWhinnie’s JPK 1080 In Theory (USA) has won IRC Two by just under two hours from J/133 Vamoose (USA) skippered by Bob Manchester. Andy Middleton’s First 47.7 EH01 (GBR) was third. “It feels fantastic, it has been great to get around the course with a wonderful crew, I can’t thank them enough. It is an all-round crew we all drive and trim and the work has been outstanding,” commented In Theory’s Peter McWhinnie. “It was a relief to get through the last beat as the wind got a little fluky and make the finish which was a very happy moment. One of the highlights of this race has been the close competition from other boats, we were always mixing it up with Vamoose, J Bella and EH01. There were a lot of great moments and a lot of hard sailing; it was pretty full on. The run down to Nevis from Barbuda on the first night was really beautiful. Albi Bona’s IBSA (ITA) held off a strong challenge from Ambrogio Beccaria’s Alla Grande – Pirelli (ITA) to win the 13-strong Class40 Division by one mile after 61 hours of racing. Completing the Class40 podium was Axel Trehin’s Project Rescue Ocean (FRA), just twenty minutes behind Alla Grande – Pirelli. “We are very happy to win in a very good fleet. Brogio (Ambrogio Beccaria) comes from the North of Italy like me, so it is great to have two Italian boats at the top. This is the first time I have done this race. Lezioni di Vela - Gennaker - Prima Issata - Episodio 17 L'issata di gennaker con la calza è il tema del nuovo video-episodio di Scuola di VELA. Il Gennaker è la vela che ha sostituito lo spinnaker su tutte le barche da crociera moderne, e la calza e' la soluzione per il crocerista che ne permette una issata e ammainata facilitata, anche in solitaria. Come è fatto il gennaker con la calza La calza è un accessorio ormai standard su tutte le barche da crociera: è un lungo calzino in tessuto leggero, con due estremità. Il punto di drizza, chiuso, a cui viene agganciata dall'interno la drizza del gennaker.La base della canza, spesso corredata da una struttura rigida ovale in vetroresina che agevola l'entrata della vela durante la ammainata della calza. Un sistema di cime ad anello, che permette di sollevare la base della calza fino al punto di penna del gennaker per l'issata, e di riportarlo in coperta per l'ammainata. Come issare il gennaker con la calza La calza del gennaker permette anche a una persona sola di armare e issare gennaker senza fare casini, perché la manovra più temuta dal crocerista, viene scomposta in più fasi, che possono esser svolte con tutta calma: Il gennaker viene riposto nel sacco già nella sua calza, che lo tiene disteso e pronto all'issata. Con il gennaker chiuso nella sua calza, si armano mura e scotta, evitando il rischio di una vela che prende vento quando non è ancora pronta a essere issata. Si issa la drizza gennaker, e il gennaker resta chiuso nella sua calza, non c'è duque rischio che la vela si impigli nelle crocette durante l'issata. Si poggia al gran lasco e si agisce sulla calza, che viene raccolta in testa al gennaker. We sail inland 23nm (6hrs) from Vlieland Island through the Kornwerderzand Lock to get to the Ijsselmeer Lake - Holland's biggest lake. Summer is lingering and the skies are hazy and warm. We anchor just outside of the lock on the Ijsselmeer Lake and head off for the next lock the day after which would take us to the Markermeer Lake. This legg of the sail would be 34nm (7hrs) in very light winds and yet another day of hazy sunshine. The boys show that they are competent sailors in helping dock the boat and hoist up our parasailor for the first time. We were amazed at how large it was! Put the beans in a sterile jar and seal it -Let them ferment for around a week -Put the beans on a tray to dry for a week or under the sun (without washing) -Roast them for an hour on 150 celsius in an oven and turn them around every now and then -crack em’ open and smash them beans 🫘 to use as cacao nibs or use a good mixer to turn them into paste. -Add sugar to taste and mix it again -Smear or pour the mix on a lunch box to get the desired thickness. -Put it in a fridge (not freezer!) and let it cool down -Eat it During our hikes in Grenada, we came by some cocoa trees and recognised the fruit’s immediately. We-had-to-try to make chocolate. And here it is! Our first attempt. Taste wise, turned out fantastic but a bit crunchy due to not having proper equipment but no biggie.a

Das Dach wird auf Boot gehoben und fixiert, das Deckshaus weiter befestigt. Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei generalüberholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. We're slowly but surely ticking the jobs off the to-do list. This week, both the yards and the heads move a big step towards completion. And yes, we're intending to launch this spring! This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. I break the easy out in the crankshaft trying to back the sheared bolts out of the flywheel of the perkins 4.108 engine. Long story short The second time I turned of the engine the flywheel broke lose from the crankshaft. There was two weeks left in the season! We are told we cannot possibly do the job without pulling the engine out of the boat completely which would be at least $1000 starting. Anyway we are in the middle of attempting the impossible by lifting the engine in the boat and climbing behind the engine to reattached the flywheel and while we are bach there we decide to take apart the rear seal.

We go to the boat and Palmetto Florida to start the last-minute fixer-uppers before we head out to the Gulf of Mexico we only got half a day left on the boat before we leave so we got to make sure everything is right before we set sail. Join us as we leave Naxos after our big decision and set a new course on our adventures, sailing north into the Aegean Sea. After weeks of incessant Meltemi winds we are happy to set sail on mirror flat seas and head north to get ourselves positioned to sail past Athens and the Temple of Poseidon, back towards the Corinth Canal when the wind inevitably returns. In a first for Kate, while the Captain is away from the cockpit on his off watch, she takes it upon herself to get the boat from motoring to sailing and so sets about hoisting and trimming the sails - and of course she is rightly proud of her achievement! The course was 1 week long and culminated in certifications in Basic Keelboats, Basic Cruising, and Bareboat Cruising. In this video: Our first 2 days started in the classroom, covering terminology, points of sail, and rules of the road. After lunch, we boarded a Colgate 26 and spent the rest of the day on the water in Tampa Bay! Our instructors were amazing, and so were our classmates!
