When I chose to sail across the Pacific Ocean, I had quite a few concerns as well as some hopes for this crossing. Sailing, for even a couple of days, can get old and exhausting quickly, especially when the weather is bad and things break. Before this sail, I hoped for one day that I would be 'becalmed'; this would give me the chance to reset, fix things, cook a few meals, clean, and simply rest and sit in the moment. While I wasn't becalmed on this passage, I came close to it; it was my favorite day. OH! and I crossed the equator!! There are times when I wish there was someone to help me on my sails.. these days were those. I wished so desperately I didn't have to hoist myself up the mast, that I could take a break from the rain and just dry off for an hour, and that I wouldn't have to get in the water to undo a line, alone. But these things are what make us stronger in the long run (that's what I tell myself?!).
