Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders in 2017. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 4 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. During season 2 We sailded south to Dieppe Normandy France. After a winter in France in Season 3 we started to sail the Atlantic coast of Europe to Xufre in Spain where we lifted the boat over the summer while we where back in Gotland to work at our hostel we got there. Season 4 got a short sailing season where we only sailed to Lagos on the Algarve coast of Portugal where we hauled out once again this time to go throug a long list of boatwork and to build a solar arch to make the boat more self-suficient with electricity. After 6 months in Lagos we kicked-off season 5 with real bluewater sailing first to the northerly Atlantic island Porto Santo and Madeira and then further out to the Azores that lays in the middle of the Atlantic ocean before turning back towards the mainland and south coast of Portugal again.

On ne s’approche pas comme ça de l’île de l’enchantement, il faut y être autorisé par les États-Unis ! Visa B1B2 délivré dans une ambassade américaine obligatoirement. Il y a, en cela un peu d’injustice ! Pourquoi alors, les américains, eux, ont-ils le droit d’arriver dans les départements français par bateau, simplement, sans visa ? Nous n’avons pas la réponse, mais ce que nous savons maintenant, si nos sources sont exactes, c’est que les côtes Portoricaines sont bien gardées. Je suis toujours stupéfaite par notre adaptation face à l’état de la mer quand le ciel est dégagé et le soleil rayonnant. Il y a comme une acceptation hypnotique ! Du moins là, je parle pour moi, car mon Tchoupi ne vit pas cette traversée comme moi. Pourquoi ? Tout simplement parce qu’en bon capitaine, il a la prévenance de toujours bien me préparer et de me rassurer. Ce qui fait, que de mon côté, je suis complètement zen. Lui, est plus tendu, il s’inquiète pour notre monture, est attentif au moindre bruit, vérifie en permanence les haubanages. Il a son rôle de capitaine à cœur et je sais, quand nous approchons de la pointe de l’ile Alto Velo, que sa vigilance s’intensifie. Les derniers milles se font au moteur, en optimisant pour faire tourner notre dessal. Bien que nous soyons convaincus de notre décision sur notre destination, à la vue des premiers pêcheurs Haïtiens, une certaine pression s’empare de nous. Nous sommes sur nos gardes ! Mais le danger n’est pas là, heureusement que nous ne sommes pas arrivés de nuit, des dizaines de bouées flot-tent au-dessus d’une sonde à 200 mètres ! Les pirogues à voiles s’en vont, s’en viennent. Les scènes sont de vraies esquisses pour de futures aquarelles. Nous arrivons à l’ile à vache….

After spending a short time at Frigate island, we tried to head across to Bequia. Unfortunately the sea state was very mixed up and we had the swell right on our beam. Luckily we had the convienience of being able to pull into Glossy Bay and wait it out for 2 days. In those two days we got to explore a little bit of what Canouan had to offer as well as walk through the very fancy Sandy Lane Marina. The water here was an amazing crystal clear turquoise but unfortunately there isn't much to see in the water at glossy bay because it is just a big sandy bay. This was just a quick stop on our way up the Caribbean chain.

Leaving Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay we head to the very lovely picturesque anchorage at Walkerville behind Bird Rock. We explore the historic Lime Kilns which operated from 1875 to 1926 and provided lime supplies to Melbourne's building industry. Flying the drone we get a lovely view of the bay, Brid Rock and the old kilns. Our final anchorage in Victoria is Oberon Bay, Wilsons Promontory with its lovely pure white beach and towering mountains on either side, to wait for our weather window before heading to Tasmania. We never expected this! We have been told that everything on our boat is broken, we just don’t know it yet. On that note, we made sure that we went over everything before we left the dock. The last thing we wanted was a malfunction the first time we take our 46’ sailboat, Honu Time into the open ocean… We never expected this! We had a catastrophic electrical malfunction as we were about to round Cape Hatteras. It’s not surprising, we didn’t discover it until it was night time. Why does everything fall apart once the sun goes down? We had to learn to work the problem and keep our cool on the fly. That is kind of what this whole life is about. You try to provision and have spares for every circumstance. But something always comes up that you didn’t expect, and you have to figure out how to use what you have on hand to make it work. There is a lot of trouble shooting and trial and error, but somehow you repair your spaceship and hopefully keep on going. Thank you for being here, for watching and supporting our channel.
