Antigua was great. Next stop, Saint Martin. One island divided into two sides....one French (St Martin) and the other Dutch (Sint Maarten). This is a jam-packed episode. Upon arrival we clear into the French side and start our exploration, with: - a hike up Fort Louis, - meals in the town of Marigot - a Tuesday "Mardi-Gras"-style celebration in the town of Grand Case - a tour of a "super" 69-meter Motor Yacht named Sherakhan We then meet up with Kevin's old friend Leah, her husband Chris and family. They join us for a day sail, we crash their hotel for a shower, and Chris swims to the boat for our passage through the bridges into the Simpson Bay lagoon. We also spend a nice beach (and dinner) afternoon with them in Grand Case. On the boat project front we work on: - fixing the engine-stop issues that returned. - purchasing and rigging a "riding sail", also known as an "anchor sail" to reduce swinging on anchor. - installing a U-bracket to brace the anchor track against lateral strain. Jervis Bay Raid with the sounds of dinghy cruising only

This episode begins with Bill working on the head's thru-hull for the sink. He is struggling to remove it for servicing which is a bit of a surprise given that we've exercised them before leaving on a 3 week break for the US. Finally after days of fighting with it it's extracted and ready for servicing along with Calico Skies' six other seacocks. Before servicing the seacocks there's another round of sanding and fairing to do on the boat's many blisters. Of varying depth the 71 blisters have been glassed but now must be sanded and faired several times until they are smooth. Today we have a team including Big D, Jared, and Marybell to help us with this dirty task and as a team we work the day away. The next day Bill avoids sanding the keel since he's already done a zillion hours on the hull and needs a 'break'. He works on installing the temperature relay for the blower that keeps our Lithium batteries cool when cruising hot places. Next Bill attacks the thru-hulls beginning with the handles; he uses a wire brush to remove corrosion. Then he cleans the bodies of the seacocks and applies lapping compound and spins the tapered cone in the valve body of each thru-hull. Once that is complete he cleans them again, greases them, and begins the challenging of task of re-installing them again. After some more sanding and fairing by the team this episode ends with a collage of our life in Cabrales Boat Yard. Nous faisons voler le drone pour capturer ces images d’Atypic 2 naviguant dans cette rivière, mais après quelques minutes de vol seulement, nous écrasons notre drone Mavic Pro 2 dans les arbres ! Come along as we cross the Gulf of Carpentaria - one of the roughest passages we have ever endured!

Thanks so much for watching our 63rd episode! In this episode we show you what it’s like living onboard a sailboat during the winter months in Cornwall, UK. We explore this beautiful place and take you on a journey to a rainforest tucked away in the Eden Project! We then head to Surfing capital of the UK; Newquay, to meet up with some old friends for the weekend. Whilst we have been living in one of the most beautiful places in the UK, Falmouth Cornwall, it still comes with its challenges when living aboard a sailboat during the winter months. We encounter a 45kts storm, through our marina and have to batten down the hatches and the solar panels!! Once the storm blew over, we had to navigate an icy deck and pontoon, readying the boat to get lifted out over the winter. This involved taking our headsail down for the first time! Indiana was due a sailboat MOT, with new seacocks, stern gland and a whole lot more! We’ll cover the refurb in our next episode. Could you live on a sailboat during the winter? We are heading to our 3rd stop in mainland Puerto Rico, a little place called Ponce. Know for for being a fisherman and food truck hub. Lots of tours and locals are drawn to this area due to the friendly pelicans and tarpon you can all but hand feed. Bei gefühlter Windstelle verlassen wir St. Vincent Richtung St. Lucia. Aber nach kurzer Zeit Champagner segeln haben wir selbst in der Windabdeckung der Insel schon mehr Wind als vorhergesagt. Als wir an das Kapp kommen kicken Wind und Welle voll rein. Hart am Wind wird es wieder eine feuchte Tour. Anker im dunkel ist dann auch gleich eine neue Erfahrung. Südirland ist definitiv ein großartiges Ziel für uns Segler! Die Küste Südirlands ist bekannt für ihre atemberaubende Schönheit und die reiche maritime Geschichte. Es gibt viele sichere Häfen und Ankerplätze entlang der Küste, die von Seglern genutzt werden können. Einige der beliebtesten Segelreviere in Südirland sind der River Shannon, die irische See, die Küste von Cork und die Südwestküste von Kerry. Es gibt auch viele abgelegene Buchten und Inseln, die von Seglern erkundet werden können. Die beste Zeit für das Segeln in Südirland ist von Mai bis September, wenn das Wetter in der Regel mild ist und es genügend Wind gibt, um das Segeln zu erleichtern. Allerdings kann das Wetter schnell wechseln, und Segler sollten immer auf der Hut sein und sich auf alle möglichen Wetterbedingungen vorbereiten.

#vela #pacifico #fiji FIJI 2022 - LE ISOLE YASAWA. CAMBIA LA STAGIONE, CAMBIA LA METEO. BULA BULA CARI AMICI! Rieccoci a voi per il penultimo video della stagione 2022. Noi siamo in Italia ancora per un paio di settimane mentre Y2K ci aspetta nella buca anti-ciclone a Vuda Marina, nell'isola di Viti Levu, alle Fiji. Piove spessissimo, il vento ruota in continuazione e ci costringe a cambiare ancoraggio ogni giorno. Facciamo su e giù fra Blue Lagoon e Naviti/Drawaqa per una settimana. A Drawaqa, chiamata anche isola delle mante, cerchiamo le mante appunto. Le mante arrivano dall'oceano durante l'alta marea e nuotano per mangiare nello stretto canale creato fra Naviti e Drawaqa. Purtroppo non è stagione, non vediamo le mante, ma lo snorkeling è fantastico. Nei primi giorni di Gennaio 2023 la meteo si deteriora sempre di più. Fiji Meteorological Service (Nadi Tropical Cyclone Centre) comincia a rilevare le prime "tropical disturbance", cioè condizioni favorevoli allo sviluppo di sistemi ciclonici. E' arrivato il momento di lasciare le Yasawa, tornare al Marina di Vuda e preparare Y2K per la stagione dei cicloni.
