Une opération de sauvetage menée avec l'association Marine and Wildlife Rescue a permi de récupérer l'animal pour lui prodiguer des soins. Bravo aux marins soldats !

Pero estábamos esperando algo mucho más importante… La nueva bomba de agua dulce del motor. 💧🔧 Cuando finalmente llegó, comenzamos a preparar todo para hacer el trabajo y dejar el barco algunas horas —o quizás algunos días— sin poder navegar. Cargamos los tanques de agua, ordenamos todo lo necesario y buscamos un fondeo seguro donde poder trabajar tranquilos. ⚓️ Y entonces llegó el momento de meternos de lleno con el motor. Después de desmontar, revisar y trabajar en la instalación, finalmente conseguimos reemplazar la bomba y volver a poner el sistema en funcionamiento. 🔧💦 Y hay una sensación que quienes navegan conocen muy bien… **Cuando terminás una reparación y finalmente volvés a salir a navegar.** 🌊⛵💙 Después de tantos días de mantenimiento, averías, viento y trabajo, el Kira-Kira vuelve a estar libre. First overnight sail On overnight passages, we all take turns on watch so someone is always up keeping an eye on things. Apparently we all have very different ways of passing the time on our shift. When your turn hits at 2 or 3 a.m., it’s basically just you, the boat, and pitch black in every direction. You can hear the water and feel the boat moving, but you really can’t see much beyond it. 😳 Some people think it sounds peaceful. Others are already stressed just watching this. 😂 Which one are you?

A expedição, inspirada nos escritos do naturalista Alexander von Humboldt de 1800, nos levaria por 5.500 quilômetros de rios, de Miami até Belém, a bordo de dois pequenos Hobie Cats de 21 pés. O plano era navegar do Caribe até a foz do rio Orinoco, na Venezuela, e de lá subir contra a correnteza até encontrar o lendário Canal Casiquiare — a única ligação fluvial natural entre as bacias do Orinoco e do Amazonas. Sem vento favorável na maior parte do trajeto, a solução foi um pequeno motor de popa e uma logística improvisada, incluindo uma barraca construída sob medida em um dos cascos para nos proteger dos insetos durante os 75 dias imersos na floresta. Os desafios foram monumentais. Enfrentamos uma cheia no Orinoco que elevou o rio em 11 metros em 37 dias, com uma correnteza tão forte que em alguns momentos, mesmo com o motor, "a gente voltava para trás". Navegamos por territórios de fronteira com conflitos armados da época e contamos com a ajuda de mateiros e indígenas para reabastecer a gasolina a cada três dias. Perché alcune barche invecchiano benissimo, mentre altre dopo pochi anni sembrano già molto più vecchie? La differenza spesso sta nella manutenzione della barca, nella cura quotidiana e in alcune semplici attenzioni che possono preservarne condizioni, affidabilità e valore nel tempo. In questa puntata di Nautica in Pillole vediamo 4 consigli fondamentali per mantenere una barca in buone condizioni, evitando che sole, salsedine, usura e scarsa manutenzione provochino danni costosi. 1. Lavare la barca dopo l'utilizzo Il lavaggio della barca dopo l'uscita in mare non serve solamente a eliminare lo sporco. Uno degli obiettivi principali è rimuovere il più possibile la salsedine, che nel tempo può deteriorare materiali, componenti e superfici. Anche le barche utilizzate in acqua dolce richiedono attenzione: acqua sporca, residui organici e umidità possono favorire muffe e deterioramento. Non è necessario diventare ossessivi, ma una barca pulita e curata avrà maggiori possibilità di conservarsi bene negli anni. 2. Fare manutenzione preventiva Uno degli errori più comuni è aspettare che qualcosa si rompa prima di intervenire. La manutenzione preventiva della barca permette invece di individuare per tempo crepe, componenti usurati, accessori deteriorati o piccoli problemi che potrebbero trasformarsi in interventi molto più costosi. Se una parte comincia a mostrare segni di cedimento, conviene ripararla o sostituirla subito. Spendere gradualmente per una corretta manutenzione può costare molto meno rispetto ad aspettare un guasto importante. 3. Proteggere la barca dal sole e dai raggi UV Non c'è solamente la salsedine: anche il sole può danneggiare seriamente una barca. I raggi UV, nel corso degli anni, possono deteriorare soprattutto la carrozzeria, le superfici esterne e la cuscineria della barca. Lasciare continuamente l'imbarcazione esposta senza adeguate protezioni può accelerarne notevolmente l'invecchiamento. Coprire e proteggere correttamente la barca quando non viene utilizzata può quindi ridurre il deterioramento e, soprattutto, evitare costosi interventi di ripristino. 4. Eseguire e documentare i tagliandi Una corretta manutenzione del motore e degli impianti di bordo è fondamentale, sia durante il periodo di garanzia sia negli anni successivi. Seguire gli intervalli e le indicazioni previste dal costruttore aiuta a mantenere efficiente l'imbarcazione. Il principio vale sia per le barche a motore sia per le barche a vela, dove bisogna considerare anche la manutenzione dell'armamento e dei diversi componenti necessari alla navigazione. C'è poi un altro aspetto importante: documentare tutti gli interventi di manutenzione. Quando arriverà il momento di vendere la barca, poter dimostrare con fatture, tagliandi e documentazione che è sempre stata mantenuta correttamente può facilitarne la vendita e aiutare a preservarne il valore nel tempo. Quindi, perché alcune barche invecchiano meglio di altre? Day three aboard FPY 70S hull #1—and I’m beginning to appreciate just how much her size changes the experience offshore. Most of my previous offshore sailing has been aboard 40–55-foot catamarans. I initially wondered how the additional size, volume and weight of the 70S would affect her performance, but out here, I’m seeing the other side of that equation. Her length and displacement allow her to move through the seas with a level of stability and composure that makes life on board noticeably more comfortable. We’re resting better, moving around more easily and even managed to sit down to a delicious meal prepared on board. Day three was an excellent one—and the more time I spend aboard this yacht, the more impressed I am by what she’s capable of. One final update to come before my time aboard comes to an end in Portimão and she continues on to the Cannes Yachting Festival. I’ll meet her there again in a few weeks, when she makes her official world debut at the show. Follow along—the journey isn’t over yet.
