Before Arabella heads south for another season of exploration, Steve returns to where the journey first began—the woods and stumps where the oak trees for the boat were harvested more than 10 years ago. What was once a busy milling site covered in sawdust, logs, and lumber stacks has slowly returned to forest. The stumps remain, the next generation of trees is already growing, and the cycle continues. Back aboard the boat, preparations for summer expeditions along Newfoundland’s remote south coast are ramping up. Climbing ropes, bolts, static lines, and expedition gear are unpacked and sorted as Steve and Robin get ready to explore massive granite walls that may hold untouched climbing routes. The 1996 boat (205) was found on a listing and bought as a passion project by members of the RS Sailing team, who restored it for the show - proving just what’s possible when you buy a used boat and give it some love. The RS200 is known for attracting rock stars and newbies like almost no other class. It was one of our first models and it remains one of our favourites, and 30 years on, the class still boast such a vibrant community. In this episode of the Rogue Rigger I install a new spinnaker halyard on an Olson 40. The boat previously had an external halyard and now we are running it inside the mast. I install the halyard exit plates at the top of the mast and the bottom and I show you how I run a new halyard. Enjoy!

We thought we only need a bottom clean in the water. Turns out the bottom was in dire need of some barnacle removal and we were about to lose the wing engine propellor. No clickbait here, no fancy music or exaggerated drama. This video is a "real" life example of how plans change while boating and living aboard full time.

Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Seitdem lag Squib in der Wiener Kuchelau, und der Refit hatte begonnen. Am 17 August 2025 ist es wieder so weit. Obwohl Squib noch nicht ganz fertig ist, werfen wir die Leinen los und starten unsere erste Etappe donauabwärts. Dreieinhalb Wochen später erreichen wir das Donaudelta, der Mast wird gestellt, ein passendes Wetterfenster abgewartet, in zwei Sclägen überqueren wir das Schwarze Meer bis zum Bosporus. Ohne Einzuklarieren mit gehisster Q Flagge durchqueren wir die Türkei und erreichen 5 Tage später die Ägäis. Über Limnos und die nördlichen Sporaden segeln wir bis in den Großraum Athen, von wo aus Sabina nach Hause fliegt, weil ihr Urlaub zu Ende ist.
