The transformation is unreal… and honestly, the teak on our sailboat turned out SO GOOD. And the best part? We saved HUNDREDS of dollars doing it ourselves. In this episode, we are cleaning the teak on our sailboat which also happens to be our full time home, a sailboat named 'Emma James'. We are tackling everything from the aft bench seat, dolphin seats, and rear deck seat, to the shower floor and trims. Over time, teak can go grey, patchy, and tired… but instead of paying a tradie hundreds of dollars, we decided to try the JustTeak system and do it ourselves. And the results? You’ll have to see the before and after to believe it. Interested in the product we used? For months, one question kept coming up: “Why don’t you use your skiff?” Well… today we finally answer that. After sitting untouched through an entire Southeast Alaska winter, our skiff hasn’t seen the water since we first brought it aboard the Alaskan Gypsy in Ketchikan. Snow, freezing temps, water in the battery, and plenty of neglect… not exactly ideal conditions for a smooth launch. But today? No wind. No snow. No excuses. So we: fire up the old two-stroke grease the jet unit (whatever that means 😅) drop the skiff for the first time in 9 months and attempt a full sea trial Will it run? Will it strand us? Or will this finally change how we move through life out here? This little boat might not look like much… but for a family living full-time on the water, it could mean everything. From paddleboards… to possibility. Welcome to life aboard our 4-season sailboat in Alaska. 🎥 New here? We live full-time aboard our steel schooner, navigating remote Coastal Alaska......one day, one project, one tide at a time. ⏱️ CHAPTERS: 00:00 Why we’ve never used the skiff 00:21 Meet the forgotten skiff (9 months later) 00:46 First start attempt + engine prep 01:30 Learning the jet outboard 02:00 Draining carbs + figuring it out 03:02 Launch system setup (ATV winch + davit) 03:57 Almost forgot the plug 😬 05:05 First float 05:23 Engine test in the water 08:25 Uh oh… moment 09:15 Winter neglect reality check 10:14 Time for a sea trial 11:05 First drive 12:23 Running the skiff (finally) 14:15 Scott in full character 😂 16:08 Thoughts on jet vs prop 17:02 It actually works… now what? 19:22 Real-life impact (this changes things) 20:35 Family perspective (huge relief) 21:19 Fuel reality 😅 22:15 Full send 23:26 Pure joy moment 24:08 The eye story 😂 25:09 Final thoughts

Even though the distances between the islands are relatively short, you’re still out in the open Atlantic — hundreds of miles away from the mainland. And that changes everything. In this episode, we leave Sal behind and sail overnight to São Nicolau. What looked like a short passage on the map turned into another rough ride — with gusty winds, confused seas, and a broken autopilot. But as always… the reward comes after the challenge. We arrive in Carriçal, a remote fishing village surrounded by rugged volcanic landscapes and unexpected green valleys. A place that instantly slows you down and reminds you why we choose this life. In this episode: – Sailing from Sal to São Nicolau – Offshore passage between Cape Verde islands – Exploring Carriçal village – Hiking through green volcanic valleys – Local food, culture & slow island life And yes… this island felt very different. 👇 Have you ever sailed between remote islands like this? Let us know your experience in the comments! **** Join me on an inspiring journey that began with buying and refitting my Reinke Super 10 sailboat called KARL. Facing the challenges of solo sailing as a female sailor, I navigated the highs and lows of single-handed sailing while tackling DIY boat repair projects, from engine fixes to full boat refits on a budget. My life aboard was a mix of adventure and reflection, shaping an independent woman’s story of resilience, personal growth, and embracing the sailing lifestyle. Along the way, I became an ocean conservation activist with In Mocean, stumbled across my dog Boga, and discovered the joys and challenges of sailing with a dog. Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. Together, we face the unique dynamics and challenges of sailing as a couple, balancing off-grid life, sustainable sailing, and the demands of long-term cruising. If you’re interested in remote sailing adventures, authentic sailing stories, and the realities of living on a sailboat, this channel offers a glimpse into the world of DIY projects, the sailing lifestyle, and life’s transformative moments on the water. After a week of racing in challenging offshore winds Saturday’s medal showdowns for the 10 Olympic class titles at the 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels look set to be blessed with perfect conditions. A moderate sea breeze is forecast to build early which, accompanied by warm Spring sunshine, should create a great arena as the regatta showcases the new formats which are expected to be used at the LA2028 Olympic regatta. As the last chances to qualify for Saturday’s Finals Series played out, Good Friday afternoon on the Bay of Palma offered the best racing conditions so far, hopefully a foretaste of what’s ahead. While the Kite and iQFOiL medals decider format are largely unchanged, it is still the top ten in each of the dinghy, skiff and multihull classes which go through to contest the Palma titles. But now there are scheduled to be two consecutive medal races with points from the Elimination Series carried forward. American pair Nevin Snow and Ian MacDiarmid lead the 49er fleet after a valuable recovery from an early start in second of the skiffs’ three races today. After having to return across the start line they battled to a 12th which they added to a race win and a fifth to lie just one point up on Germany’s Richard Shultheis and Fabian Rieger. Asked about the new Finals Series format Snow smiled, “I have not let myself get there, I didn’t want to think about the ten-boat race too early, so I need to go home and figure it out. I am feeling good about it. We are sailing well, we sailed well in training. We need to just stay in the zone and take it as it comes.” French duo Erwan Fischer and Clément Pequin, the 2024 world champions and last year’s Sofía class winner missed the cut, finishing 13th with a 9,9,12 today while the Netherlands’ triple world champion Bart Lambriex and Floris Van De Werken squeeze in in 9th thanks to a fourth in the last race. “These guys they will come on strong I’m sure.” Observed Snow, “I don’t think they have been training as much as they used to when they were winning world championships. When they are going for gold medals they will start ratcheting it up. But we are super happy, we have been training hard. We have good boat speed – like I am sure everyone says – and the conditions here have been super shifty. Our speed has improved in all conditions. We are focused on the right details and in terms of big goals to accomplish we are just ticking away at them.”

Dinghy adventures are the BEST! For a number of years now there has been a super fun dinghy poker run to raise funds for breast cancer patients that we call the "Pink Dinghy Run". This year we upgraded our super-light Classic 340 to a MUCH more comfortable Sport 390. The CL340 is light enough to secure on our davit system without taking the engine off, which makes it perfect for long sailing trips. But there are so many places to explore on the Bay that we were excited to upgrade to a full console SP390 that has a 20-degree hull which slices through waves and wakes like butter! Which is great when the dinghy run will take us about 15 nautical miles to complete! Other than some serious rain just after the last card spot, it was a flawless day. The SP390 was a fast pirate ship for one day. Now we have to find the next dinghy adventure. Fishing anyone?
#abayachting #fermimai #venditabarcheinesclusiva #onboard #perizianautica #venderebarca #brokernautico #nautica #yachtbroker #compravenditabarche
Electric winches have always delivered power. Now we’ve made them smart. Today, most electric winches still use outdated technology. They are simple ON/OFF motors. You press the button, and the winch runs fast, with little control. This makes sail trim less precise — and sometimes less safe. This is why we created SailForce. The smart electric winch, available in SailForce 1 and SailForce 2. SailForce gives you more control. You get two variable speeds: a fast speed and a slow speed. So you can move the line smoothly, millimeter by millimeter. At slow speed, you can go as low as 1 centimeter per second, with the same precision at low load or high load. When you need speed, SailForce can reach up to 25 meters per minute. You also get real-time line tension on the control screen. You can see exactly what is happening, at every moment. SailForce allows central control of all electric winches on board. One control unit can manage multiple winches from the helm, while local control remains available at each winch. For more safety, we added a super sensitive tension limiter. Set one limit for fast speed—for example 100 kilograms— and a separate limit for slow speed—for example 1400 kilograms. If something blocks the line—a knot, a stuck pulley, a blocked clutch— SailForce reacts immediately when the tension limit is reached and stops the motor before damage happens. Your deck equipment stays safe. Every maneuver is different and needs different tension limits. So you can save your settings in maneuver programs. Each program stores its own fast and slow tension limits, Each program stores its own fast and slow tension limits, and you can switch from one program to another in seconds. SailForce also protects your service battery. Traditional 12V or 24V motors can draw very high current— up to 300 amps on 12V systems. SailForce uses a higher-voltage system with a lithium buffer battery that charges on the 12, 24 or 48 volts. During winching, the buffer battery delivers up to 45 amps to the motor. When the winch is not in use, it recharges smoothly from the service batteries, using less than 10 amps. The result: longer service battery life and no need to increase your service battery capacity. SailForce reduces power consumption. It uses high-efficiency outrunner brushless motors, combined with a gear reduction system. This technology is about twice as efficient as traditional brushed motors, so you can use up to 50% less energy on your boat. Choose the model that fits your boat: SailForce 1—1250 watts, up to 82 newton-meters, for smaller winches. SailForce 2—1500 watts, up to 120 newton-meters, for larger winches. SailForce is available as a complete electric winch, in partnership with the Australian winch brand HUTTON, or as a refit conversion kit compatible with different winch brands and sizes. More control. More safety. Less power consumption. This is SailForce, the smart electric winch. By Ewincher Smart Electric Sailing
