Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJX2CvbCChNvxDDd0XsyRo3k_38IuvcG0 The start of our Atlantic cruise in fall 2024 is the subject of this video. It describes the journey from Portimão in the Algarve to Porto Santo, the small island off Madeira. Before we set sail, we have to prepare the yacht for the long distances ahead, but we take a day off to explore the Algarve's hinterland a little. Then we set sail for this 460-nautical-mile journey. Chris Beeson sails the Hanse 460. The relationship between Hanse Yachts and La Rochelle-based design house Berret-Racoupeau started with a bang when their first launch of an entire new range, the 460, won the family cruiser category in the 2022 European yacht of the Year awards. Three years on, Chris Beeson thinks the exterior design still looks fresh and dynamic, and there are some delightful design touches down below, with hull ports, plenty of opening hatches and recessed mood lighting in the bright saloon, and contrasting coloured panels adding depth to the cabins. Sailing this model is a cinch with optional electric winches right next to the helm stations and an electric furler for the optional second forestay’s 145% genoa. With the main traveller positioned on the coachroof and sail controls at the wheels, the very spacious cockpit remains line-free, perfect for relaxed family fun. What’s not to love (except maybe those latches…) Thank you to Inspiration Marine for allowing us to test this Hanse 460 https://www.inspirationmarine.co.uk/ - We love reviewing yachts for you, but it costs money and pays little – for the moment, at least. Ulkosaariston helmi Utö ja Kökarin Hellsö Utö. Saaristomeren laidalla seisova karu ja kaunis saari, jossa meri näyttää kaikki kasvonsa. Täällä tuuli tuo mukanaan tarinoita – menneitä myrskyjä, menetettyjä laivoja ja uusia alkuja. Tällä kertaa meri on ensin lempeä. Ja siksi me palaamme tänne, yhä uudelleen.

Viel Erfolg bei Eurem Nähprojekt 😀 In this video, I sew a new window into the large side panel of our bimini. There are a few tricks and tips that make the job easier and quickly lead to great results. I do it the same way a sailmaker did it on one of our small side windows. I use my heavy-duty sewing machine for the sewing work, but any standard household sewing machine should work as long as the window film is not too thick. It is important to use the right needle size and strong, UV-resistant sewing thread. Good luck with your sewing project 😀

This boat will make a LOT of sense to so many of you. Easy walk around decks, solid build with great stability and shaft diesel power I found this Alaska 47 to be a boat that is going to appeal to boaters! If you're an ex-sailor or a couple looking do do some serious liveaboard cruising you will absolutely see value in this. Likewise as a family day boat with absolutely everything you need and some of the best sun protection around this would be an ideal platform for summer holidays and Christmas lunch on the water. This video takes you through a full walkthrough and offshore test drive, showing why this 47-footer (that feels closer to 55ft) has become one of the most sensible liveaboard designs in its class. During our test in Moreton Bay, Australia, we put her through her paces: -Inshore handling in wind chop -Fuel burn at slow, fast, and wide-open throttle -Stability and comfort at rest -Docking and anchoring performance -Real-world cruising range insights This boat isn’t about flash it’s about trust. A solid hull, simple systems, traditional shafts, and an honest, practical layout that just works. At the end of the day, that’s what makes her special.#liveaboarddiving #yachtlife #cruiser #sedan #alaska PRICE Contact - https://leigh-smith.com/ BRAND: https://alaskamotoryachts.com/range/alaska-47-sedan/ FOLLOW https://www.instagram.com/dansboatlife/ ASK DAN - Got a question - Minnect me https://app.minnect.com/expert/DanJones EXCLUSIVE CONTENT - Support my work and see unpublished videos https://www.patreon.com/dansboatlife SAY THANKS https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/dansboatlife?country.x=AU&locale.x=en_AU CONTACT - Book a shoot (Buyers use Minnect) www.dansboatlife.com.au/contact

In this episode, our sailing life in the Canary Islands takes us inland for a change — to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Tenerife and the incredible Teide National Park. What started as a surprise shout from shore turned into a heartwarming connection with Alberto, one of our viewers, who invited us to spend a day exploring his island. Together, we ventured up towards Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain, through ever-changing scenery and clouds rolling over the volcanic slopes. It’s a story about human connection and how meeting people while traveling can turn an ordinary day into something unforgettable. We are a sailing couple living on our Hallberg Rassy Rasmus sailboat, documenting our journey from the Mediterranean, along the coast of Morocco, and now through the Canary Islands. Our life on the water is about more than sailing — it’s about curiosity, connection, and embracing this alternative lifestyle. Along the way, I became an ocean conservation activist with In Mocean, stumbled across my dog Boga, and discovered the joys and challenges of sailing with a dog. Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. JUNGLEFEVER is a very well maintained and significantly updated and upgraded example of what was Hanse’s flagship in 2010. Designed by Judel/Vrolijk as a fast and very spacious family cruising yacht, she excels in her design brief. A spacious owner's suite lies forward, two excellent guest suites aft, a huge saloon and cockpit under which is a garage for her tender. This particular example has been in private ownership since new and never chartered. Much of her life was under the care of a full-time skipper. Her current owner purchased her in 2025 but has found he simply doesn’t have the time she deserves. He further improved the yacht’s ease of handling by adding a stern thruster, she already had in-boom furling which was fitted in 2016. The standing rigging was replaced in August 2025 and the mainsail is from 2023. Her decks were replaced in 2022 when Raymarine Axiom electronics were also fitted along with new hi-end audio equipment. Her hull was painted in light grey and is in excellent condition. The inventory is very comprehensive in-boom furling, retractable thrusters, full a/c, a hydraulic gangway and water-maker all make life aboard luxurious and comfortable. Viewings are unreservedly recommended. NOTABLE FEATURES • Excellent sailing performance for a cruising yacht, in-boom furling • Extremely spacious and modern feel to interior, teak finish enhances feeling of quality • Standing rigging replaced in 2025 • In-boom furling system • New teak in 2022, recent sails and re-painted she is very well updated • Exceptional inventory • Anti-fouled in August 2025 and berth paid until September 2026 • Bow and stern thrusters • Hydraulic gangway To see all our listings please visit www.aberyyachts.com

Now that summer is coming to a close, it’s time for us to start winterizing our homebuilt wooden sailboat for the cold weather to come. Over-wintering in Newfoundland—on a sailboat, nonetheless—is a bold move, and one that we need to prepare for. As the temps drop, condensation in the boat is becoming a bit of a problem. It’s time to close up the portholes. Armed with a piece of cedar board and small hammer, I make my way from portfolio to portfolio, removing each screen as I go. Then, it’s time for some weatherstripping. This will help with the condensation. I tackle the project along with my trusty heat gun. This will be a nice solution until we get the boat shrink-wrapped in another few weeks. Another project is laying our Code Zero out to dry, and then packing it up and storing it properly for the winter. Filling our water tanks could become an issue this winter with how cold the Newfoundland weather can be. I have an idea for how to make filling our tanks easier and more accessible…I just need to make a quick run to the hardware store for supplies. The water will get shut off at the docks soon, but since we’re so close to the marina clubhouse, we can run a hose from the building to the boat with ease. Then, my new additions to our water tanks should make filling up easier (and faster) than ever. Now that we have a better system for filling up our water tanks, winterizing our Spectra water-maker is next on the boat work list. I flush the system, following the instructions in the manual. With the harbor expected to freeze over for the winter, we won’t be making much water. Better to take the water-maker offline completely and stored properly. As if I didn’t have enough boat work on my to-do list, Robin caught diesel fuel leaking from the overflow valve on our Dickinson Newport diesel heater. Fortunately, I can stand in as a diesel tech for the day. I think something inside the valve assembly might be stuck. There are a lot of parts and springs, but we’re going to crack into it, take it apart, and get the diesel overflow to stop dripping one way or another. Eventually, we get the heater back into tip-top shape. After all this hard work, we decided to take a day off to mosey along a highly-recommended foliage drive. The drive starts in Cox’s Cove and travels along dirt roads all the way back to Corner Brook. The foliage was at peak, and the forest looked like a celebration. It was the perfect wind-down to a week of hard work winterizing Arabella. -------------------------- Episode #366 Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat supports A2A! By bringing the human experience to the 7 seas, we’ve been able to unleash an unbridled sense of curiosity and instinctual need for quality since 1984. Something we wouldn’t have accomplished without a collective passion for spectacular destinations and even better journeys getting there. As confirmed sailors, we all know that our boats have to be fast, comfortable and safe: seaworthy. We build them based on our love of the sea and the constant aim of good-quality work. This new Fountain Pajot FP41 is packed with innovation and amazing styling with great sailing performance. This actual Catamaran can be chartered in the BVI's British Virgin Islands and if you are looking to charter a yacht or thinking about buying a yacht to place in charter please contact me as there are some great tax incentives for doing this and I can help you through the process. For more information please contact Ian Van Tuyl the yacht specialist. Please feel free to contact me at any time day or night and I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully earning your business. 1-(619)-507-4416 ivtyachtsales@gmail.com http://www.ivtyachtsales.com Forget the limits! The new generation of catamarans for sailing further, longer, more in tune with the ocean... Available with an internal combustion or electric drivetrain, this model has been designed to offer excellent autonomy for cruising on every ocean. At once seakindly, safe and comfortable, this catamaran thinks big: it will take its crew wherever they want to go. The FP41 is the perfect blend of elegance, performance and habitability. A true lesson in design: the horizontal lines of this compact 41-footer catamaran have been stretched to offer levels of harmony and elegance usually only seen on much larger models. This well-canvassed catamaran certainly knows how to lengthen her stride on long passages, while remaining fun and easy to handle close to the shore. The deck layout incorporates the double helm and manoeuvring station so popular on all the other models in the range: the skipper now has a pod housing all the instruments. As for the crew, they will find new areas for relaxation: sun loungers on the bimini and forward of the coachroof, not forgetting the ingenious lounger integrated into the port transom. Intelligent and ultimate comfort On board, every space has been thought out and optimised to offer real comfort, both under way and at anchor. The three-window saloon opens completely onto the aft cockpit. A large opening panel acts as a serving hatch between the galley and the forward saloon The double helm and manoeuvring station that’s already proved itself across all Fountaine Pajot catamarans is now an integral part of the deck layout. Positioned at mid-height, it offers a perfect view of the water and the sails. It allows you to maintain contact with the crew in the cockpit, as well as those on the new sundeck. Unique design and incomparable spaces The FP41 is available in a “maestro” owner’s version: the port hull becomes a genuine suite. The “quatuor” version offers 4 cabins and 2 to 4 bathrooms. In all the cabins, you can enjoy sea views through the large windows and very wide beds thanks to the chines in the hull.

We've run up against mother nature at her nastiest, a dangerously exploding volcano? Circumnavigating Sulawesi in Indonesia on our 42 foot sailboat, a lack of wind couldn’t stop us, uncharted coral reefs couldn’t stop us, being rammed by customs officials couldn’t stop us but flowing lava, falling ash and the threat of tsunamis from the erupting Mt Ruang volcano force a seismic change to our sailing plans. ✨ Episode 19 - NZ North Circumnavigation (Part 3) Welcome aboard Part 3 of SV Thistle’s circumnavigation of New Zealand’s North Island! This leg of the journey takes us deep into the Tasman Sea — filled with unpredictable swells, midnight watches, crew antics, and yes... FINALLY, some actual fish on the line (or not? You decide). In this episode: 🎣 Will Trevor finally break the fishing drought? 🌊 What do you do when you're 100 miles offshore? 🛥️ Life onboard under motor and sail, including night watches, cabin chaos, and homemade ceviche. 🐬 Plus, dolphin sightings, sea banter, and the eternal mystery: port or antport? 🐟 What You’ll See: Hilarious (and mostly hopeless) fishing commentary 3 a.m. sail shifts & sunset whiskey traditions Crew updates: Jason's sea legs, Trevor's a Ginger?! Cillian's apparent espresso addiction! Some of the most honest, raw moments of life offshore Dolphin encounters and breathtaking Tasman sunsets Boat life chores, sarcasm, and survival through laughter 📍 Where Are We? Sailing from the top of the North Island down toward Nelson — riding lumpy seas, chasing tuna, and trying not to lose crew overboard (or our minds). 🎣 Quote of the Trip: "Two tuna in two minutes. We stopped fishing... I'm sure there's more." — An optimistic (and possibly hallucinating) crew member ⛵ New to the Channel? 'Koonya’ is a 2014 Hanse 445 listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/hanse-445-koonya Koonya is a thoughtfully outfitted Hanse 445 that blends easy performance with comfortable live-aboard spaces. The tidy teak decks, clean twin-wheel cockpit and smart deck ergonomics make her a boat you’ll enjoy sailing and entertaining from day one. Under sail, she’s light on the helm, easily driven, and rewarding to trim with 2 electric winches that can be controlled on the helm pedestal. A performance cruiser that’s genuinely manageable short-handed thanks to her self-tacking headsail and well-thought-out cockpit. There are a few things that sets Koonya apart, firstly this is a one owner boat that has been very well specified from the original build and meticulously maintained. Secondly is the recent 2025 refresh and service work. The mast wire rigging was replaced in 2025 and she carries new Hood sails (5-batten main and 4-vertical tri-radial self-tacking jib, both 2025) plus a lightly used Hood Code Zero on a Harken furler. The saildrive and engine (1450 hours) were fully serviced in July 2025 and hull maintenance is up to date with antifoul, topside polish and Propspeed completed July 2025, a real saving for the next owner. Systems and comfort have been addressed for relaxed cruising and easy short-handing including a retractable Quick 4.3 kW bow thruster, B&G Zeus touch chart plotter (one on each helm pedestal) and autopilot, fusion speakers in the saloon and cockpit, solar panels fitted on the bimini, black mesh sun covers to form full cockpit enclosure. The boat is very well equipped to sail away. The interior is a practical three-cabin layout with two heads and two showers. The layout in the forward cabin cleverly separates the head and the shower into distinct compartments, the head on one hull with the shower/wash space on the other hull, allowing for simultaneous use without compromising privacy, ideal for couples or guests sharing the space. It also has a large 12V refrigerator (130 L) plus an extra Waeco 50 L fridge/freezer. Extras include a Highfield 2.7m dinghy with Suzuki 2.5 HP outboard, extensive safety gear (EPIRB, life raft included), and healthy battery/house and inverter system. It’s rare to come across a yacht that presents as beautifully as Koonya, complete with the thoughtful upgrades and convenient features that make her truly stand out. If you’ve been waiting for a boat like this, don’t hesitate as opportunities like Koonya don’t come around often. Book your viewing today and see firsthand why this is such an exceptional vessel. Ted Irwin yachts are celebrated for his practical, cruiser-oriented designs that prioritized comfort, seaworthiness, and affordability. This 38 foot center cockpit was one of his most popular designs, featuring two cabins and a spacious salon. Praised for its tank-like build and comfort ratio, with a solid fiberglass hull and full keel, this hybrid diesel electric setup makes an amazing combination. The prop is powered by twin 15KW water cooled electric motors, for 30KW of total power. This twin motor setup adds fault tolerance, there are no single points of failure from the motor to the independent battery bank. You can chose to use the battery bank to get in and out of the anchorage or marina, and just sail the boat, or run it like a traditional diesel and cruise at 6 knots until the generator runs out of fuel. The redundancy doesn’t stop there when you’re off the dock, you can charge the batteries with the wind generator, 2KW of solar panels, the prop when it spins under sail, or the 12KW genset. The galley is propane free, with an electric stove and pellet smoker on the stern rail. This yacht is setup to cruise Mexico or beyond, just load up the huge fridge and freezer and cast off those dock lines!
