The night started with everything reefed, ready for the front we thought would hit. But it didn’t. Instead, we were left with barely any wind, sails flopping around, moving slowly and awkwardly through the water. One of those frustrating nights where you’re prepared for something that just doesn’t show up. Then in the morning… it did. The front finally arrived and the wind picked up quickly to around 25–30 knots. The sea built up, the boat started moving a lot more, and suddenly everything felt a bit intense. It was hard to do much. We spent a lot of time just on the floor, because that was the most stable place to be. During the day it eased off a little, which gave us a chance to recover a bit, catch our breath, and reset. But by the evening, it started building again. So we’re heading into another night that probably won’t involve much sleep. But… it’s all part of it. 🌊 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. 26.7 knots on a 72-foot power catamaran. This is the GranOcean W-72 "Roy Cay" a fully-equipped $4.5-5M semi-custom build shot in Fort Lauderdale before delivery to its owner in the Bahamas. Jeremy walks through every feature and system on this top-spec W-72, featuring twin Caterpillar C18 engines delivering 2,300 combined horsepower, a fully integrated 48V lithium power system with 3,000 watts of solar, and an upgraded Frigomar air conditioning package that runs hotel loads including AC for 2 to 3 days at anchor with no generator. 00:00 Unique Features and Specs 00:58 The Foredeck/Sidedecks/Gelcoating 02:05 Tender Lift Platform and Fuel Station 02:46 Flybridge / Helm / Garmin Displays / Space 03:37 Signature Flybridge Wings / Custom Steel Retention System 03:58 Engine Rooms / Superior Access Hatch Design 05:26 Salon, Galley Up Configuration, Scandinavian Vripack Design 07:16 Owner's Cabin, Guest Cabins, Heads and Crew Cabins 10:45 Navigation Station / Camera System / Speed 12:07 Automatic Blinds / Aft Cockpit Bar and Television 12:59 Lithium Batteries / Battery Management System / Termodinamica AC 13:51 DC Panel System / 24 Volt DC Panel Power Management 15:41 Termodinamica Air Conditioning System Upgrade / MG Battery Management System / Inverters 17:16 Pricing of Roy Cay The Termodinamica air conditioning upgrade paired with MG battery management is the single spec that transforms how Roy Cay is lived on. This owner upgraded to a Termodinamica, the Italian specialist brand that builds variable-speed DC air conditioning specifically for off-grid yacht use. Paired with the MG battery management system orchestrating a 48V lithium bank and 3,000 watts of solar, every compressor, fridge, and light runs off a single integrated hotel-load bus. No startup surges, no cycling losses, no AC-to-DC conversion penalty. The result is tested, not theoretical: 4 to 8 hours of full hotel load including air conditioning on battery alone, and 2 to 3 days at anchor before the generator needs to come on. For a boat that cruises the Bahamas and Caribbean, this is the difference between a floating hotel tied to its machinery and a genuine off-grid retreat. Silent nights. Zero diesel vibration. No 3 AM generator cycles to keep the cabins cool. It is the system that turns a premium power catamaran into something that actually lives up to the word "cruising." If you're interested in learning contact us: https://catamaranguru.com/yacht-sales/new-yachts/granocean-w72/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=YouTube&utm_campaign=Granocean&utm_content=RoyCay The owner specified a Vripack Scandinavian interior with galley up linear configuration, a Williams DieselJet 445 tender on a 1,000 kg hi-lo tender lift platform, and a custom GranOcean engineered fuel station that refuels the tender directly from the main tanks. Three 22-inch Garmin multifunction displays at the flybridge helm, twin Besenzoni captain's chairs, and the signature full-beam flybridge wings with modular furniture on a stainless retention system engineered for 26-knot offshore running. Esperanza was chosen for a purpose. When the Manns selected this 2019 Lagoon 380 S2, they were not simply buying a catamaran for casual cruising—they were choosing a boat they believed could carry them far beyond the coast and eventually around the world. Before that larger voyage began, Esperanza had already built her rhythm in the Bahamas and the Yucatán, serving as both home and platform for the kind of steady preparation that turns plans into passages. By the time she departed in October 2023 for a global adventure, Esperanza had already become far more than a recently purchased boat; she had become a boat being trusted for the biggest journey of her life. From there, Esperanza’s story widened dramatically. She went on to join the World ARC 2024–25, a rally route spanning roughly 30,000 nautical miles through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific, on to Australia, through the Indian Ocean, around South Africa, and back across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Along the way she reached the kinds of landfalls that define a true bluewater résumé, including French Polynesia, where her place in the rally route reflected the kind of offshore use most boats in this class never experience. When the fleet completed its circumnavigation, published coverage noted that Esperanza was the smallest boat in the rally—not as a novelty, but as a reminder of how much capability can be found in a well-prepared and genuinely proven platform. What makes that story so compelling is that Esperanza carried it out aboard one of the most respected production cruising catamarans ever built. The Lagoon 380 earned its reputation by offering something many larger boats never quite achieve: true manageability. Its concept is simple in the best possible way—comfortable living spaces, efficient twin-engine handling, stable catamaran form, and systems that remain accessible to real owner-operators rather than demanding a professional crew. That balance is a major reason the 380 became such a lasting success in the cruising world, and it explains why a boat of this size could credibly be selected for an around-the-world campaign in the first place. Esperanza’s story ultimately reflects the design philosophy of the Lagoon 380 S2 at its best. She is not remarkable because she is oversized, extreme, or built to impress only at the dock. She is remarkable because she embodies a version of cruising that is practical, proven, and deeply believable—a catamaran with enough comfort to live aboard, enough simplicity to manage well, and enough real-world capability to cross oceans and keep going. In Esperanza, the Lagoon 380 S2 is not just a successful design on paper; it is a design whose promise was carried into the wider world and brought back with a genuine voyage behind it. Price and Inventory at https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/2005-outbound-46-10155530/ Outbound Yachts need no word of introduction. Celebrated by world cruisers and featured consistently on such sites as Practical Sailor (who dedicated one of their Youtube Video to the Outbound 46 - Lady K Sailing), or Attainable Cruising with a lengthy and wonderful report by John Harries, or Bluewater Sailing Boat Reviews, which you can also read online, plus numerous publications and owner's reviews. The Outbound 46 has a well-deserved reputation as the gold standard of blue water cruising sailboats. Designed by renowned US naval architect Carl Schumacher, built to the highest standards and continually refined over more than 20 years in production, the Outbound 46 will take you comfortably across any ocean. Her solid GRP hull, encapsulated keel and high righting moment, she is also a nimble, quick but stable boat that is specially designed and built for serious offshore voyagers. Yet, when many go-anywhere yachts compromise on deep, cave-like interiors, sluggish pace and more classic lines with closed-in cockpit and steep companionway, the Outbound 46 bring you all the comfort and feeling of a modern yacht, with a wide sugar-scoop transom and open cockpit for easy access, bright and airy interior with large windows, beautifully handcrafted cherry wood interior and top quality stainless steel portholes, this yacht combines the best traditional ship building can offer, while offering a modern sailor what they need to feel comfortable. Built by Outbound Yachts in Xiamen City, China, next door to the Nordhavn and HH Catamaran factories, amongst others, the Outbound 46 is still in production. So far 80 Outbound 46 have been built, with many orders continuing into the future. Hedonism is hull number 18. All Outbound Yachts are semi-customised and built to order, with each owner working with the factory to refine their yacht around their needs. For Hedonism's owners, years of research and discussions with Bluewater cruising specialists, this meant designing the interior of their yacht with a view to live on board in comfort and independence in the most remote parts of the world. Storage and intelligent weight distribution were taken into consideration, with every space used for dedicated storage for supplies, personal items, tools, spare parts, sailing and safety equipment. Hedonism is a work of art with few equals around the world for anyone looking for the perfect world explorer. Please read on and click on the Additional Descriptions for the detailed inventory and list of recent upgrades. This truly beautiful yacht is continually maintained and improved at no expense spared. Her owners are on board and will welcome you for an inspection or via video call if you wish.

We bought a 57ft project catamaran at auction just 6 months ago. After 82 days of non-stop work, we transformed a yacht that had been sitting abandoned for 7 years into an almost unrecognisable diamond of a vessel. We've overcome some massive hurdles to get this boat launched for the first time in its life - building rudders, bringing the engines back to life, engineering the steering system and wet exhaust. But now, all this seems like a champagne, spinnaker sail compared to work involved in fixing this problem that we've just uncovered. We are NOT qualified for what's to come... _____________________________________________________________________________ PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/TheNewKidsOnTheDock PAYPAL: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KNLJDGDXPAYAU WISHLIST: https://www.myregistry.com/wishlist/josh-and-phoebe-coomera-queensland/5046646 _____________________________________________________________________________ We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land and seas which we work, play and live on: the Kombumerri peoples. Most sailing channels start when someone's already out there. This one starts before that. I'm 18. I don't have a boat yet. I don't have the money for one yet. But I have a plan, a deadline, and a channel I'm building from the ground up so that when I do get out there, you've been with me from day one. This video is about the part nobody talks about — the uncomfortable middle ground between wanting the life and actually living it. The part where nothing looks like it's working. 😅🤣🤣🦈 #ficaadica #vidaabordo #mar #tubaroes #panama

The countdown has officially started. ⚓️ In today’s update, we have some incredible news to share, but first, we need to say a massive thank you. To our supporters and everyone who donated toward our brand-new sails—thank you. You are quite literally the wind in our sails, and we wouldn’t be getting the boat ready for the next leg without your generosity. The clock is ticking. We have just 5 months left in Australia before we pull up the anchor and point the bows toward Indonesia. 🇮🇩 This is a huge shift for us, and we need your help! If you’ve cruised Indonesia or traveled "further afield," we want to hear from you. Which islands are "must-sees"? Where are the best hidden anchorages? What should we definitely avoid? Drop your tips and ideas in the comments—we’re planning this next adventure with you. But Indonesia is just the beginning. As we look at the charts and prepare the boat, there is one looming challenge on the horizon that we can’t stop thinking about... a stretch of water that demands total respect. Once the Indonesian sun sets, we’ll be facing the Indian Ocean. 🌊 Are we ready? Is the boat ready? Only time will tell, but the point of no return is getting closer every day. To learn more about Keane Insurance and to seek your bespoke boat policy check them out here - https://keanespecialty.com/get-a-quote?pid=YSN With the final checks complete and with forward and reverse tested and engaging, Nandji 2 finally glides free from her pen, moving under her own power for the first time in nine long months. It’s a monumental achievement in what we have managed to get done. This journey hasn’t been easy. It’s been a relentless road of problem-solving, patience, persistence and hard work. But this… this is the side of sailing people don’t always see, its the part that makes the ocean crossings, the new horizons, and the distant landfalls feel so deeply rewarding when they finally come. Because one day soon, when we set off across the Atlantic ocean toward a new country, it’s the satisfaction in knowing the work and preparation has been done, which makes the sailing and the future arrival mean everything. For now though, let’s keep it simple stupid. Baby steps. Our first sea trial out into Hout Bay, putting the engine through a series of controlled tests, building a clear picture of how everything is working, and whether it’s all truly in sync. Starting by motoring directly upwind: 1,000 RPM… 2,000… 3,000… and then full throttle, logging speed and performance. Then we turn, repeating it all downwind, gathering the data that will tell the real story. Whilst it is great to be out on the water, every element matters in a perfect installation. The engine, the gearbox, the propeller, they all have to work in perfect harmony. These tests will reveal the load, the balanc and whether everything is dialled in just right. But sometimes, you don’t need the numbers to know the outcome. As from the very first movement of leaving the pen… I already knew. Something wasn’t right.... In this full tour, we explore a boat that is only three days old, taking you through everything from its standout design details to how it actually feels to live with on the water. Filmed in sunny Southampton, this is a proper look at what makes the Targa 50 such a tried and tested favourite in the Fairline range. The focus here is clearly on outdoor living 🌞. The cockpit space is huge, with flexible seating, a clever folding table, sunbeds, and a fully equipped wet bar, making it ideal for long, relaxed days out. There is also a high-low bathing platform and garage space for tenders, making it just as practical as it is sociable. At the helm, visibility is excellent, with a clean dashboard layout and a massive opening roof that floods the entire area with light. Head below and you will find a beautifully updated interior, with fluted gloss wood finishes, a well-equipped galley, and thoughtful touches throughout. The accommodation offers a comfortable master cabin, a flexible VIP cabin, and additional berths via the dinette, making it a great option for extended stays onboard. It is a proper blend of style and usability, with everything feeling solid and well put together. We also break down the full ownership costs 💰, from purchase and finance to fuel, servicing, and annual running expenses, giving you a realistic picture of what it takes to own a boat like this in the UK. With strong performance from the Volvo IPS setup and a newly extended three-year warranty, this Targa 50 Edition makes a compelling case for itself. 🕔 Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction and Edition #2 overview 00:34 Cockpit layout and bathing platform 01:05 Sunbed and exterior styling 01:49 Wet bar, BBQ and storage 02:30 Seating and folding table setup 03:37 Helm position and roof opening 05:23 Interior design and saloon 06:16 Galley walkthrough 07:24 Master cabin and ensuite 09:07 VIP cabin and layout 09:19 Purchase price and finance breakdown 10:02 Fuel costs and performance 11:01 Fixed running costs 11:30 Overall ownership costs and verdict 🔔 Like & Subscribe for more exclusive factory tours and boat reviews! We thought this would be a quick fix… it wasn’t. After arriving in Dar es Salaam, we set out to tick off a list of jobs before leaving the boat behind at anchor. One of the biggest? Fixing our anchor chain and windlass issue. We replaced the motor. We tried a deep water drop. We even swapped the chain ends. And still… nothing worked. What followed was a mix of problem-solving, frustration, a bit of trial and error… and eventually stepping away to reset before diving back in. With the boat prepped as best we could, we locked everything down—taking extra precautions before leaving her unattended—and headed off on a surf trip we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. Next stop: airport, road trip… and new waves.

► The standard version of the Rapido 40 demonstrated impressive speed potential right from its first runs. This model is available in Performance Cruiser and Racer versions. In the latter configuration, being unveiled to the public for the first time, the trimaran is 1,540 lbs (700 kg) lighter, equipped with C-foils, a carbon rig, and has an upwind sail area increased from 1,044 sq ft to 1,211 (97 m² to 112.54). ► While the central hull has a very narrow beam at the waterline, reasonable volume is nevertheless ensured inside, thanks to a marked chine. The floats are particularly voluminous, obviously guaranteeing good strength. In port, they fold: the beam is reduced from 28’10” (8.8 m) at sea down to 17’1” (5.8 m). ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Rapido Trimarans Displacement: 4.5/5.2 t Architect: Morelli & Melvin Mainsail: 700/793 sq ft (65/73.64 m²) Material: composite - Solent: 345/419 sq ft (32/38.9 m²) Length: 39’6” (12.03 m) Powertrain: 29HP Beam: 19’/28’10” (5.8/8.8 m) Price: € 726,000 ex-tax - Draft: 22”/4’7” (0.56/1.4 m) ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests!
