Far off the beaten path, we sail to a remote Alaskan island that few ever set foot on - a mysterious and wild place where even wolves failed to thrive. It’s already trying to force us out, as quickly as we've arrived... This is a very windy place so we suggest watching with the captions on :) 💙 Want to Help Support Our Videos? Sailing Canary Islands ⛵ Fuerteventura - Las Palmas, Gran Canaria| Sahara Dust to City Colors | ep51
From desert dust to city color—our family sails through a Calima to vibrant Las Palmas! ⛵️In this episode, we de-cockroach the boat (well, at least preventatively 😅) and dust off a fine layer of Sahara sand after getting caught in our very first Calima — the wild desert wind that sweeps orange dust all the way from Africa across the Canary Islands. Everything turned golden... including our boat, ELANE! After the cleanup, we sail 60 nautical miles (13 hours) from Morro Jable, Fuerteventura to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria — the lively capital known for its beaches, colorful streets, and as the legendary starting point of the ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers). Once anchored just outside the busy marina, we explore vibrant street art, watch surfers take on Atlantic waves, and soak in the city vibe. But when it’s time to leave… our anchor refuses to budge! 😬 … and end up missing our perfect weather window to Tenerife. Oh well… just another day in sailing life! 🎥 Filmed: February 17–22, 2021 🧭 Route: Morro Jable ➜ Las Palmas (60nm / 13h) ☀️ Boat: SY ELANE 📍 Next Episode: Paddle-boarding, anchor rescue, and a road trip up to the icy peak of Roque Nublo! #sailingfamily #sailinglife #canaryislands #laspalmas #granCanaria #calima #ARC #kids4sail #itiwit #decathlon #sailingadventure 🕒 Timestamps & Highlights 0:47–1:06 ⛵️ Preparing canned food for storage — removing paper and cardboard to avoid roaches. 1:14–2:23 👨👩👦 Family teamwork — labeling cans, joking about “surprise food,” and playing with toy teeth. 3:00–3:57 🌴 Morning walk to the beach; kids finish homework and get some light exercise. 4:26–5:45 🌪️ Saharan sandstorm (Calima) hits — everything turns orange and dusty. 6:10–6:59 🌍 Narration explains the Calima phenomenon — sand blown from the Sahara across the Canary Islands. 7:20–8:09 ⚓️ Night sail to Las Palmas, arriving early morning among large ships. 8:41–9:48 🛥️ Anchoring outside Las Palmas harbor — meeting friends, 13-hour sail completed. 10:00–12:20 🌆 Exploring Las Palmas — giant yachts, murals, and discovering the city’s size and vibrancy. 13:06–14:46 🍦 Family walk to find ice cream; busy city vibes and street scenes. 16:34–17:55 ☀️ Breakfast in the cockpit; trying out a hammock over the water. 18:23–20:25 🚶♀️ Sunday walk along the promenade — relaxing family moments and playtime. 20:25–20:56 🍰 Celebrating the first day of Lent — baking traditional Norwegian cream rolls (“fastelavnsboller”). 21:04–21:31 ⚓️🚨 Anchor gets stuck; they can’t move the boat but eventually free it. 21:51–22:21 🏔️ Preview of next episode — mountain road trip and icy summit adventure. Docked right in the heart of Manhattan at the iconic Chelsea Piers Marina, I got to experience New York City like never before — from the deck of my sailboat! I launched the dinghy and cruised down the Hudson River, exploring the skyline and even making it out to the Statue of Liberty for a once-in-a-lifetime view from the water. Then, before sunrise, I set sail solo southbound toward Atlantic City, watching the city lights fade behind me as I headed out to sea. It was a long and beautiful passage — and an unforgettable arrival after dark. 👉 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and follow along as I continue my solo journey down the East Coast! #SailingDoodles #NYC #StatueOfLiberty #SoloSailing #ChelseaPiers #AtlanticCity This channel is funded by viewers like you. We reflect back on 15 years of memories, adventures, and emotions, and so much more. It was quite an intense and emotional moment for us, but we couldn't dwell on it for too long...because in true Delos fashion, our last mission is an absolute doozie, and we have to navigate our way through a shallow & narrow river at night with rain, squalls, and about a foot of clearance under the keel. It was on Wednesday 5th November at 22:13:58 local time, which was 03:13:58 on Thursday in Central European Time, that Tom Laperche and Franck Cammas crossed the ULTIM finish line in Fort-de-France, Martinique to become the first team to finish the 17th edition of the TRANSAT CAFÉ L'OR. On a moody Caribbean night, they won the ULTIM division in a time of 10 days, 13 hours, 3 minutes, and 58 seconds. After finishing twice in succession, in 2021 and 2023, this is Laperche's first big Tranatlantic race Ultim win, while the legendary Cammas has now won the race five times. In one of the closest battles in the recent history of the race, the team of Baptiste Hulin and Thomas Rouxel on Viabilis Oceans grabbed victory in the OCEAN FIFTY division on Thursday afternoon, crossing the finish line off Fort-de-France, Martinique at 15:54 hours local time Martinique. Completing the race in 12 days 5 hours 24 minutes 30 seconds. In total they raced 5,709 nautical miles at an average speed of 19.46 knots. With 350 miles to the finish the team were more than 20 miles behind the leaders Pierre Quiroga and Gaston Morvan on Wewise, but they managed to claw their way past them in the closing stages. Jérémie Beyou and Morgan Lagravière on Charal 2 took victory in the IMOCA class when they crossed the finish line in Martinque on Friday morning. Their elapsed time for the course was 11 days 19 hours 45 minutes and 18 seconds. It is Beyou's first major ocean race win since 2020 whilst co-skipper Lagravière has won the IMOCA race for a record third successive edition. This week aboard Arabella in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Steve takes on a cozy mission while Robin is away: Mission: Warm Robin. With winter closing in and temperatures dropping fast, it’s the perfect time to prep both the boat and a special surprise for her birthday. First, a quick fix for the Dickinson diesel heater, sealing up a small exhaust leak that’s been marking the cabin overhead with soot. Then it’s on to something a bit more personal: crafting handmade winter gear using traditional and sustainable materials sourced in Canada: moose leather, beaver fur, coyote, and seal skin. Over the course of a few days, Steve designs and stitches a full set of cozy accessories: fur-lined slippers, beaver-and-coyote overmitts, and a coyote muff, all made by hand aboard the boat. The result? A heartfelt, one-of-a-kind gift to help Robin stay warm aboard Arabella, and out in the backcountry this winter. Join us for this heartwarming mix of DIY craftsmanship, boat maintenance, and life aboard in the North Atlantic. 🔧 In This Episode: • Fixing a small smoke leak in the diesel heater exhaust • Using high-temp silicone sealant for safe stove maintenance • Designing & sewing fur slippers and mitts by hand • Exploring traditional materials from Newfoundland’s Indigenous artisans • Gift reveal: Robin’s reaction to the handmade winter set -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built.

Discover how the OneSails Multi Tradewind Sail transforms long-distance and ocean sailing with greater efficiency, simplicity, and control. An evolution of the traditional twin-headsail system, this innovative design integrates two IFS-structured gennakers on a single furling unit — creating a lighter, more aerodynamic, and more powerful setup than conventional twin genoas. Built for balance, stability, and effortless handling, the Multi Tradewind Sail adapts perfectly to all downwind angles. Each section can be used independently or together: – In twin configuration, both sails open symmetrically for deep downwind sailing. – In single configuration, they operate as a gennaker for reaching angles up to 100° true wind angle, maintaining constant power and precise airflow. Crafted with advanced materials and the exclusive OneSails Integrated Furling Structure (IFS), it offers lightness, strength, and durability — with the craftsmanship that defines every OneSails creation. Ideal for ocean crossings, offshore racing, and bluewater cruising, the Multi Tradewind Sail is a versatile solution that reduces sail changes and enhances reliability. 🌐 Learn more: https://www.onesails.com/multitradewindsail ⚓ Explore the full OneSails range: https://www.onesails.com 📩 Contact your nearest loft: https://www.onesails.com/lofts 00:00 Introduction 00:19 What makes the Multi Tradewind Sail unique 00:42 IFS technology incorporated 01:05 Twin and single configuration explained 01:42 Downwind Performance 💬 Share your thoughts on the comments! #OneSails #Sailmakers #DownwindSailing #IFS #SailingInnovation #BluewaterCruising #OceanCrossing #SailDesign
PG caught up with Andreas, Export Manager for Quick Group, to talk all things gyros, global adoption, and why more shipyards — from Europe to the U.S. — are making the switch. Standing alongside @axopar @nimbusboats @fjordboats_official and @iconyachts — Andreas shared how brands across the board are fitting Quick Gyros as standard. Even on the @maritimomotoryachts stand, two of the three vessels on display are running Quick systems — with no gyro fitted to the third. Why the shift? ✅ Smaller footprint ✅ Air-cooled (no water pumps or secondary systems) ✅ Lower maintenance ✅ Proven performance ✅ Global dealer support Less complexity. More control. That’s why @quickitaly is the fastest-growing gyro brand in the world. Need help speccing the right gyro for your vessel? Talk to the Gineico team. We're sailing into nirvana in this pirate voyage on Lewisville Lake. Cyndi rides the bow and we get some great images of the lake while under way in our 1983 Catalina c-30 Tall Rig sailboat. From the quiet shores of Lake Lewisville, we set out to the bridge, sails full and hearts wide open. Wind and water carry us toward the old dam — where time slows, and every ripple becomes a reflection. Between the freedom of the waves and the pull of memory, we find ourselves again… People live in fragments — but out here, we remember the whole. #sailingcouple #sailing #sailingyacht #sailinglife #sailingboat #sailingpassion #sailingadventures #catalina30 #catalinaboats #catalinayachts #sailingintonirvana
I have been away from my boat for two weeks and am wrapping up this leg of research in Japan’s longevity hotspots. After speaking with locals, experts, and elders, one truth keeps rising to the surface: longevity begins in the mind. Yes—diet, movement, and microbiome all matter. But Japan has taught me that mindset may matter most. In English, we speak of the Fountain of Youth. In Japan, there is 清心の泉 (Seishin-no-Izumi)—the inner spring of a clear, spirited heart. It isn’t something you travel to find. It’s something you cultivate within. As I finalize the fourth draft of my new book and begin the fifth, this idea is becoming central: Longevity is less about defying time and more about nourishing the inner spark. Follow along as this journey continues. #Longevity #Mindset #SeishinNoIzumi #BlueZones #AgingWell #Japan #LongevityMindset #HealthyAging #NeverTooLate #LongevitySecrets #FountainOfYouth #HealthyLongevity #JapanCulture #InnerStrength

Sometimes the dream boat isn't the right boat. After months of dreaming about the Tayana 37, we discovered that the reality didn't match the vision, and that's okay. In this episode, we share the emotional turning point that lead us to let go, trust the tide, and sail onward. Along the way, dolphins joined in to cheer us up, a hike across Stocking Island to say goodbye (for now) to our favorite beach, and I left behind one of Lucy's Heart Rocks as a symbol of love. This moment reminded us that every ending can also be a blessing in disguise. 🩵 🎵 Copyrighted music licensed from Lickd. https://lickd.co Happy Island Girl by Kevin Coyne, Jon Langford, The Pine Valley Cosmonauts, Pine Valley Cosmonauts, https://t.lickd.co/l/yK7o4kKDjn2

Sailing vessel Tapatya. We have a look around in Port Yasmine, Hammamet, Tunisia and then spend a couple of days enjoying the excitement of Tunis. This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated.
