Voutomi Beach é o nome do Paraíso !! This year, as details of a brutal weather forecast started to sink in, the mood on the dock swung as tension began to build. The 3,500 mile race to Guadeloupe was going to be tough; boat busting, strength sapping tough. After a perfect drag racing start, the big winds and huge waves swept in. Boats broke and skippers retired, yet some pushed on through. We tell the story. Plus, we go foiling indoors to find out how a high performance America’s Cup boat could provide the basis for a radical new commercial vessel. And glamour in St Tropez, technical talk in Lorient and big Olympic news in Florida.

We love Madeira! In this episode we dive in gin-clear waters, traverse the backroads of an ancient volcano, are saved from a terrifying gondola ride, get lost in the beauty of the island of flowers, and sail with Pilot Whales! En Route to and exploring Ilha de Madeira. We sailed directly down wind, taking two long tacks to keep the boat on a broad reach all the way to our anchorage, Enseada da Abra… a small undeveloped cove on the east end of La Ilha de Madeira. We anchor with about 140 ft of chain in about 25 to 30 ft of water in about 15 knots of wind. A cruise in the dinghy showed us just how beautiful the cove is. After enjoying our anchorage, we explore the island then set sail again--with WHALES! Your support is incredibly motivating! Thank you! Madeira is an autonomous region of Portugal (like the Azores). It is also in the north Atlantic Ocean, southwest of Portugal and north of the Canary Islands The archipelago consists of Madeira, Porto Santo, and the Desertas, they are also associated with the Savage Islands, which are protected. Madeira was claimed by Portuguese sailors in 1419. And has become a popular tourists destination famous for its wine and food, historical cultural value, flora and fauna, and striking landscapes. We end up staying about a week at the first lock on the Caloosahatchee River, tied to a set of pilings called dolphins, at the Franklin Lock. Once the rainy weather clears we decide to go on an exploration by dinghy. We saw on Google Maps there was a creek called Telegraph Creek, that goes a couple miles in a very secluded area. Now that we are in mainly fresh water, we are trying to find an alligator! The views were amazing! Once we get back to the boat it's time for more boat chores like attending to our rigging, steering, and compass issues. Thanks for watching! Subscribe if you'd like

From its beginning, design, innovation, and entrepreneurship have been essential elements of the Herreshoff Marine Museum's DNA. 120 years ago, Captain Nat and JB were pushing the boundaries of naval architecture, creating a fully integrated business model and inspiring the world at the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company. Today, on the very same campus, children learn STEM concepts on sea and on land, teens gain vital technical skills to help them enter today's marine work force, and visitors are awed by the beauty of the boats in our collection. We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat!. In this episode we venture upriver to the town basin marina in the heart of Whangarei. We finally finish the rest of the boat jobs and begin the mammoth task of provisioning for our forthcoming trip to Tonga. As usual storage is at a premium but we manage to squeeze it all onboard without the need for a bigger boat. We take ownership of our new dinghy, Dave, and welcome Jo's parents onboard for our trip north to Opua. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ☕️ Want to Buy us a Coffee? We had no prior sailing experience when we bought out 40ft catamaran 'Double Trouble' , but hey, mere details right? We moved onboard in January 2017 and have been learning ever since. German Update in from Boris 15/11/18 13:20 CET: Boris is doing well - the weather conditions are great - it is a completely different world to the start of the race. He is still hopeful to move up and pushing forward. The others approaching lighter winds around Guadeloupe might get caught and slow a bit here. The sun has just dipped under the horizon. The last time during the Route du Rhum for Malizia2- Yacht Club de Monaco. And i am trying something new: the “oneglass” wine. To inspire a few concluding phrases on this Route du Rhum and to cheer on mr Thomson - The greatest British yachtsman. I keep a lot of positives from this race and want to thank our partners, team, friends and supporters. Let’s think back in the start. Everyone did an extraordinary job. I was on Board as a guest almost up till minute 8. Just till after Pierre’s great first-in-history-backflip from an imoca at the Route Du Rhum start. I then only had to adapt speed and trajectory to the “time to burn” on Adrena, our nav software. Martin had chosen the good side of the line and general timing for the approach. It seems as an anecdotical Detail but mentally it makes a great difference to do a good start and as it’s going straight ahead from there for anyone behind it’s quite difficult to overtake. At the cap Frehel mark just about 1 hour into the race I had a first little hickup. My runner deflector lock wouldn’t want to unlock up there inside the mast. I couldn’t consequently unfurl and my mast head zero for the broader wind angle after Frehel. I became hectic. Having rounded the mark third I had to see almost the whole fleet sailing past. I dropped the sail on deck and tried all kinds of tricks to convince the lock. Difficult to keep an outlook in the same time with all the spectators and fishing boats. My team had turned around just a minute too early to help here keep my path free. For a short moment I was running out of ideas and looked around me. There was a motor boat right next to me with Morgan la Graviere and Billy my good kite foiling friends. And Morgan is an Imoca skipper he must have felt the horror. I don’t know how but I tried something new and it worked. I could re hoist the big sail and take off into the first night. I had alerted and stressed a bit myself and the shore team but we got away with it this time.Day one was a shocker. A secondary low to pass and I didn’t pass. I could see the whole fleet in very short radius around me on AIS. And then I see Paul and Vincent speeding away with 15 knots. Yann Sam Isa and me we stay stuck for almost all day. Me the longest I have the feeling. Must have been right in the middle of that damn low. That pretty much decided the race there. My northerly Special Route was result of that different timing now. The routings and ensemble routings were so clear about my route there was no doubt. I was even surprised for Yann and everyone behind. My routings showed us all going west towards the azores. So I ended up in my lonely route no one following. No one motivated for another half week upwind sailing. The zone we had been afraid of with the max wave night and wind has been pretty full on. The wind was from the side. That means there is nowhere to escape. The boat does some scary accelerations and slamming and so on. The commenting on my route has been quite negative at the beginning. Although I had my best day by far exactly there where people thought I would get stuck. Malizia was flying under code zero at 100 degrees true wind angle and flat see. What a royal day that was ! What I was consequently missing was direct contact and fighting with other boats close to me. I also was missing any kind of sea life. I have met zero animals. That is strange and gets me suspicious. On the positive side we had hundreds of school kids following the race and sending me funny questions onto the boat. I don’t want to praise anything before tomorrow lunchtime but u can hear that the general feeling is very positiv. I am thankful the gods let us through. My thoughts are with those that were forced to return to Europe. Especially I feel sorry for Sam Davies. We had been in the trainings together and she was often the fastest. After a long trip starting of in Morocco finally arriving on the Canary islands with Benjamin. Arriving on Lanzarote in the middle of the night in Aricife harbor. Really feels like my second goal reached. Goal one was sailing from Amsterdam to Ibiza and my second was Ibiza to the Canary Islands. But with getting the new Seahorse in Italy we added some extra miles to the trip. So what next? Filming all the islands here and then off to Cape Verde.

Sailing around the World is not always easy... https://www.sailingnandji.com This week on Sailing Nandji, Bonita is faced with some difficult times. After receiving bad news from home, she had a health scare. The hard part about being away from friends and family iand travelling in remote areas and underdeveloped countires, is that when things go wrong, there is no where to turn to. Needing to leave Indonesia because of our visas, this passage from Ambopn to Dili was a difficult one with many other factors on the minds of both of us. I guess Sailing around the world is not meant to be easy. There are many great times but some very hard times along the way. NANDJI"S NEW MOTOR We reached our target for getting Nandji a new engine! Dutch yacht builders dominate the market for high end luxury yachts, and are as notable for their versatility as they are for their quality. This vlog, the last one in a series of three looking at yacht builders in The Netherlands, looks at some marvellous sailing yacht builders along with two shipyards who specialise in smaller vessels than their neighbours.

| Season 3 | Episode 48 Welcome to Season 3 of my channel! On this episode we lave Sandivk just after midnight racing the next "wind event" that is scheduled for the next morning at 11am, bringing 35+ knots along with it once again. I enjoyed a beautiful night at the helm and finally got to experience the the sun never fully setting. It was like a prolonged sunset that turned into a sunrise and by 3:30am it was bright and crisp. Neil had seen "Bjökör on Navionics and asked the guys at the market about it in Sandvik and no one seemed to know about it. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find it was a nature preserve, had a south facing harbor and only one spot to tie a boat up to the dock, which thankfully was empty. This season will follow my time on board SV Arcturus as we explore the Åland Islands and beyond. We sail into cities, tie up on small islands, anchor bows to and ride out a blow before heading back to Sweden. I hope you will follow along with us on the trip. We were a bit overpowered and we broke a bunch of lines when we got hit with some gusts. The lines were old and frayed and needed replacing anyway we just hadn’t gotten to them yet. Anyway we survived and pulled into Moriches inlet for the evening (which I don’t recommend anyone transiting without very local knowledge). #problems #bestuck We have a scary moment coming back to the dingy when the tide went off, we nearly got stuck but we managed to get to Ocean Fox. The currents going in and out of the inlets are so strong and confused that is a bit scary. We enjoyed so much Vilamoura, such a beautiful and tidy village ! We are really enjoying this life and share everything with you it's been wonderful . Thank you very much, you guys are amazing. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon
