This is a part 1 of a 3 series of our sailing adventures to Belize. We set sail from Puerto Aventuras in Mexico from the southern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. We had about a 200 nautical passage, that we split up over a 3 day period. We took advantage of the great winds and loved every minute of sailing. Our heading was directed south for our first atoll, called Chinchorro. We arrived just before sunset and had the whole place all on our own. Join us on this episode as we sail south making our way closer to safer anchorages out of hurricane season. Thank you so much watching the Adventures of WE! Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE! Consider being our PATREON and follow along with our journey one nautical mile at a time. www.patreon.com/WEsail

A huge thank you to those who help keep our boat afloat by supporting our creative process via Patreon. You can be part of the crew for less than the price of a coffee. https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis Sailing Fail we rip the sail We are sailing from Taveuni to Savusavu, northern Fiji and the wind is on our tail, a perfect time to bring out ‘The Big Sail’. Roaring along Rob gives us a little lesson in the difference between true wind and apparent wind. However, the biggest lesson we learn is take the sail down before the wind increases. We struggled to take the power out of the gennaker. Through trial and error, we eventually hauled her in but not before we had ripped the bottom panel to shreds and Rachel lost half a fingernail. How rum! ***** #TheCruisingKiwis Music Cricket Farm – Bending Spoons Zero D – Coconut wireless Olympus – Epic and dramatic trailer music David Mumford - Night without sleep instrumental WHO ARE WE? In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. This week we sail further south along the coast of Greece, passing the first cape of the Peloponnese on route to Kalamata. We leave the bay of Navarino for our first anchorage in Methoni and it’s a ripper, bounded by an historic castle on one side and green farm land on the other. We are one of only 3 yachts in the anchorage when we arrive and are soon the only one, and it feels like we are the only tourists in town. Visiting a family owned and run taverna, Sapientza, we are treated to a traditional home cooked meal made by Grandma which we get to choose from the stove top. With light winds we sail to the nature island of Sapientza for a quick swim and then on to Finakounda where we anchor for the night. A quick trip in to check out the town and have a Greek coffee the next morning before the winds arrive and we are on our way again, this time to an anchorage on the way to Kalamata via the first cape of the Peloponnese. We aren’t sure what to expect as it seems 2 very different wind directions are meeting at the cape but it’s completely fine and we are treated to some great winds to sail. We attempt to anchor at Koroni however large boulders cover the sea floor and we decide against it and sail on to Petalidi which is a perfect anchorage although a little exposed. The next day we are off early to Kalamata where we need to berth in the marina due to no long term anchorages nearby and we also need to pick up some deliveries and re-stock Kawai. Kalamata is the only place we have been able to find so far this time in Greece to re-fill our Turkish-bought gas bottles which is a relief. Diesel is delivered right to the dock and the 27 euro fee includes unlimited electricity and 4 euros for unlimited water. It’s been a long time since Kawai has had a decent wash down so Jase gives her a good bath. Kalamata is famous for it’s big fat black olives so we pay a visit to the large local farmer’s markets to try them and stock up on fresh fruit and veges. From Kalamata we sail to Krites anchorage for one night and it’s a delightful anchorage with crystal clear waters and after being in a marina we are keen for a swim! About us: Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai. We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the next year we hope to sail to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia. Jase loves making travel videos and we decided to upload to youtube to share our adventure. We really hope you enjoy and feel free to drop us a comment any time to chat or subscribe to follow along :) Instagram Jason: https://www.instagram.com/jase_stephe... New Adventure: Up to now I have had the opportunity to travel in order to learn, see and experience in first hand. In order to feel free. To see the world as it is and not as it is shown. But life ain't just that. A constant hedonism, wishing destinations and leaving senses ecstatic. Life requires reflection too, time breaks and distance in order to put things in pespective Thereby further deepening instead of pushing things further away. Besides that I am a fierce ecologist. As a kid going back to my earliest childhood memories I was out on the street, demonstrating for the planet. And to me, the way of transportation when I travel is a matter of conscience. So when traveling, better not pollute and destroy the destinations by inflating prices and gentrification. Or with the pollution of planes and ships. Besides that I am from Portugal and likely so are you and after having traveled around the world I realized that my country is widely known for its maritime history, since the age of the discoveries, The navigators and sailors filled with courage on manowars. Also the religious missions attached. And Portugal is a coastal country. So which other way would be more meaningful to travel other than a boat. But not on any type of boat. My ecological beliefs would never lead me to a motor boat. I dislike those for its pollution, consumption, noise and excessive speed. I rather enjoy things slowly. And that is why I decided to buy a sailboat. This is the trailer. Stay tuned for the coming videos! After exploring the caves of Kleftiko, we sail to Adamas Port. On our way we stop at Sikia Beach, the biggest cave of Milos, Greece. Arrived at Adamas Port we try want to apply new telltales which proves more difficult than thought. Music by Markvard @markvard
We leave northern Italy and cross into the mountains of Slovenia. From here we wind our way down and cross into Croatia and enjoy the coast again. We are a family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a motorhome in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

Drake and Sofia Sweet, a brother and sister team, love the ocean. They moved to Florida at the age of 3 and have been water babies ever since. Growing up on the ocean and seeing such an increase in pollution over the last few decades has caused them much concern. While out spearfishing and sailing they began to regularly see balloons, cans, water bottles, food wrappers, plastics and other materials toxic to sea life and the ocean ecosystem. They decided they needed to help the ocean and its creatures in some way, and so Sibling Company was born. Each year, Sibling will select a non-profit group dedicated to maintaining and safeguarding the world’s oceans. Through 2019, a percentage of all profits from Sibling Co. purchases will go toward the Ocean Clean Up—the largest cleanup project in history, aiming to remove trillions of pieces of plastic waste from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Florida, the sunshine state, with its ruthless summers and 80-degree winters requires everyone to wear some sort of sun protection. To celebrate the launch of Sibling Co., Drake and Sofia have designed a straw hat with a cloth lining to help protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Drake and Sofia are excited to unveil many more products that protect the skin while supporting and bringing awareness to issues that threaten marine life. In this video I go through how much power we generate daily on SV Delos, where it comes from, and how our generator time has gone down by 30% after installing Lithium batteries! Topics in this video are: How much power do we generate on a daily basis from solar on a sailboat? How much power do we generate from wind on a sailboat? How noisy are wind generators? How much does a wind generator make? Are Lithium batteries more efficient at charging? What is the percentages of power from all sources? Did the generator time go up or down after installing the new Lithium batteries? It's been a full year since I first landed here in Mindelo, Cape Verde. And it's taken me this long to discover some of the best spots and most interesting people. It's also Natacha's one year anniversary, and she makes a splashing comeback. While she was away, I did not stay aboard longing for my friend, I went and made new friends who introduced me to the most entertaining bistro bar in town called La Bodeguita de Mindelo. As well we discovered some more hidden coves with Peixe and company just a few miles away from Mindelo Bay. For those sailors who just stop here a few days before crossing the Atlantic, they sure missed the best night & day spots in Mindelo worth discovering.
THANK YOU so much to everyone who has sent me kind emails and donated money to my plight. Thanks to you guys, I'm a happy little nugget again AND I'm going to be able to replace everything that was stolen. My mom and I had so much fun shopping for replacement gear. A lot of it I'll purchase online, but we were able to find a bunch of stuff in the city! See you next week! :)
Sometimes small is big. This is an Eastport pram, built from a kit by Chesapeake Light Craft. It sails well and is very light but its capacity limits utility. An inflatable is required as a supplement .

Sweet day trip from Split to Mostar in Bosnia i Hercegovina and then to Dubrovnik with Mahina's cuzzie bro Dayne.
After having just landed in the Arctic, we woke up on our first day in Værøy, ready to climb some mountains...except our clear skies disappeared on us. Thick fog had rolled into the harbour, and even though sea level was still clear, we knew we would not get our view from the top. Not to let that discourage us, we still took the dinghy to shore where we rowed through massive amounts of kelp to land the boat. Walking through the former town of Måstad and learned of its history in fishing and puffin hunting. We did eventually find the trail to make our ascent up the incredibly steep hill, but just as we expected, we began to lose visibility only a few hundred feet up. It was still a fun experience though and got us ready to head to our next destination for the afternoon...a white sand beach with a mysterious cave! Much love from Norway!! Living on a boat has its ups and downs (but mostly ups!). Seasickness, homesickness, where to shop, where to recycle, where to put your trash? But then you see the fabled "green flash(er)," or you go on a scramble up a mountain river into a rainforest and suddenly it all seems worth it. Yes, living on a boat is pretty rewarding... POSTING DAILY ON SOCIAL: https://www.instagram.com/the_sailing_family/ https://www.facebook.com/the-sailing-family-voyage/ ----------------- ABOUT US: Welcome aboard. We are a family of five sailing around the world on our "dream boat," a performance catamaran named "Archer." Ten years ago, before kids, we sailed a Lagoon 380 named "Honeymoon" halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences with family and friends via YouTube, and by happenstance created one of the first sailing channels. But more than anything, we realized what an incredible experience that first trip was and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids. We want to share with them the importance of taking time to be with family. To show them a world outside of the one they grew up in. We want them to appreciate how lucky we are to experience (and to care for) the natural beauty of this world. But mostly we want to spend time with our kids during these formative years and create lasting memories as a family. That's why we are sharing our videos weekly - thanks for watching! OUR BOAT is a Ferrari red Outremer 51 performance cruising catamaran. We chose this boat as it has been specifically designed for the purpose of bluewater sailing. It was designed and built to withstand the stress of sailing multiple times around the world safely and in comfort. It's also a speed demon, which is important when you want to cover large distances of water before the weather changes. Lastly, it's backed by the manufacturer with outstanding customer service and aftermarket support, so we believe she will hold her value well. And, she's nice on the eyes too. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and then on to the Panama Canal. At the time of posting this we are dealing with a repair in the South Pacific, and in 2020 we hope to be in New Zealand and Southeast Asia. By 2021 we will be in the Med and close to completing our circumnavigation. PLEASE COMMENT!: As a "family channel," we are required to actively monitor all comments, but we still want to hear from you. Tell us what you think! THANKS for watching all. Subscribe right now and never miss an episode!
We spend some rainy days getting work and homeschool done and then Kris takes the kids on an adventure to find the lighthouse… Yep they get lost. The next day we find it! And there’s a spectacular view from Cap D’Nua Lighthouse overlooking the Nature Reserve, Baie de Prony and the Southern Lagoon. It’s a real shame we can’t find our drone footage. Got one good family photo from it before it went MIA. Enjoy!
