This week, American Sailor co-host Whitney Kent sits down with US Sailing colleague and friend Betsy Allison. Betsy has worked at US Sailing for nearly two decades, currently leading the Adult Sailing department. She is a five time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year winner and has dominated an array of different boat classes throughout her professional career. Betsy coached the most successful Paralympic sailing team of all time. In an ironic turn of events for the Hall of Fame racer, Betsy became a para athlete in 2022 after a battle with cancer. Shortly after her recovery, she was standing on top of the podium in the Netherlands at the 2023 Sailing World Championships with a gold medal around her neck.

US Sailing is proud to announce the winners of the prestigious 2025 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year Awards. Paul Cayard has been named the Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, while Laura Grondin has been named the Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year. These awards recognize their exceptional accomplishments in the sport of sailing over the past calendar year. The winners were honored at an awards ceremony during the New York Yacht Club Champions Dinner and US Sailing Awards in New York City on February 12. The selection process involved a vote by past Rolex Award winners and prominent members of the sailing media.
