The Audi Centre Sydney Newcastle Bass Island Race started under light conditions and threatening rain. After capturing some great footage down the harbour, sadly the showers hit just after launching the drone, so we weren't able to shoot for long. The late entry of the Celebrity Solstice certainly added to the atmosphere on the night and scattered the fleet heading out of the Heads. Thanks to Jake Price & Stephen Price for their part in capturing this footage.

If Charisma and Aleph were the stand-out teams yesterday, today, the penultimate day of the 44Cup Palma, belonged to Igor Lah's Team CEEREF. In a return to their 2016-17 season-winning form, the Slovenian team won both of today's races. This elevated them to second overall astern of Nico Poons' Charisma which had another solid day leaving them with a six point lead going into the final day.

„Jedes Jahr ein Fuß!“ Wer kennt diesen Spruch nicht. Über die richtige Schiffsgröße lässt sich vortrefflich diskutieren - und ihr könnt uns glauben - das haben wir auch. Möchte man sich ein Segelboot kaufen, ist die Frage nach der Länge des Segelboot wahrscheinlich eine der ersten Fragen, die man sich stellt. Und vermutlich gibt es so viele verschiedene Antworten wie Bootseigner da draußen. Denn schonmal vorab: Eine pauschale und endgültige Antwort gibt es einfach nicht. Die Faktoren hierbei sind nämlich zahlreich: Crewgröße, Segelrevier, Länge der Törns, Komfortbedarf, Sportlichkeit, Kojencharter oder nicht, das Vorhaben generell… Wir haben es schon häufig angesprochen: Ein Segelboot ist ein einziger großer Kompromiss. Jede Eigenschaft eines Bootes hat jeweils Vor- und Nachteile und man muss den besten Kompromiss für sich und seine Pläne finden. Deshalb starten wir unsere Projekte immer mit einem Beratungsgespräch, um den passenden Schiffstyp für unsere Kunden herauszufiltern. Die Länge zählt natürlich auch zu diesen Eigenschaften, die wir durchgehen und ist ein wichtiger Teil des Gesprächs. Im Video unterhalten wir uns mit Galina und Stefan in Berlin, die sich an uns gewendet haben, um für ihr Sabbatical ihr Traumschiff zu finden. Das restliche Coppercoat gilt es anzuschleifen und für einen Aufenthalt ins Wasser zu aktivieren. Dann gilt es noch das Schiff seetüchtig zu machen. Neuer Opferanoden, neue Anlegetaue, Fender raus. Endlich fühlt sich die Benko immer mehr an wie ein Schiff und weniger wie eine Baustelle. Dann ist es endlich soweit, Die Benko wird geslippt und ins Wasser gelassen. Hurra sie schwimmt! This week we show the proper way to clean a pool filter. The great news is that you use this same method for cleaning other filter systems as well. For example, this is the same way we clean the pleated sediment filters on our freshwater filtration for the boat, as well. You can do this on a whole house water filtration or even a well water system. We also end up having an excellent sushi night with our friends at the house, where we all made our own. And lastly, I had to Las Vegas, Sin City, The Oasis in the Desert, whatever you happen to call it. This trip is for is our annual KronosWorks event, which is a customer event that the company I work for throws for our customers. It is always a great time. Those of you that watch our channel know just how much I like the company I work for and appreciate the way they treat and empower their employees. Our CEO has written the book on how to build a great company and workforce called "Work Inspired," and he truly is the example of those principals as is the rest of the companies leadership team. In this video I build a lead melter out of a air tank. This will be used to melt the 585 pounds of lead for casting the lead ballast keel. I need to build a melter so that I can melt our lead in order to cast the ballast keel. The first thing I need to consider is what kind of container. What this needs to be and how big the container needs to be. So in order to figure out the size of the container the first thing we need to do is to figure out how many gallons of lead we need. The container needs to hold 585 lbs. of lead which is about 7 gallons.The next question then is what kind of a container can we find that will hold seven gallons or so molten lead. Taking a page out of my friends Steve and Alix, from Acorn to Arabella, they use an old air compressor tank. In hunting down a container I discovered that Harbor Freight sold an portable air compressor tank a tank that has an 11 gallon capacity and sold for about $30. This mainsail has been made for a Tanzer 8.5 from our Precision 300 Series Designer Dacron. This mainsail features two full and two partial battens, a single reef, and black sail numbers.

This is the Maverick 440 Laminic hull #003 opening the summer in Cape Town, South Africa... enjoying some fun with the family. Watch till the end of the video and see the Maverick 400 Catarina hull #006 come into frame. Maverick 440 Laminic hull #003 celebrates its 10th-year anniversary recently after being launched in October 2009. Laminic was originally a Maverick 400 called Prost and first sailed to Namibia. It was then sold, renamed to Reham and sailed up the East coast of Africa to Abu Dhabi where it spent about seven years. It was then sold again, renamed Laminic by the 3rd owner who brought it back to Cape Town and enjoys it in local waters with his family. When it returned to Cape Town it was taken out the water and extended from a Maverick 400 to a Maverick 440 in the Maverick Boat Yard in Cape Town. This aerial photography is taken in Kraalbaai in Langebaan about 100 nautical miles up the West Coast from Cape Town in South Africa. Kraalbaai is in the middle of the West Coast National Park. This makes it a lovely place to drop anchor and spend a few nights as there are no people on land and the only way to access the park to sleep at night is by private yacht. Having a private yacht really gives you access to some wonderful and unique locations. The stars here are amazing at night. The protected bay has still shallow waters that also warm up to higher temperatures than the Atlantic Ocean. At the end of the video, you'll see the Maverick 400 Catarina come into the frame which has a taller mast on a double spreader.
