Fidelis is a boat with a stellar and sound provenance. Her story is well documented through several books and many articles. Her sparkling race record began in New Zealand, and then as the line honours winner of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race in 1966. The race winning performance continues to this day with harbour sailing, another five completed S2H races, many trips to Lord Howe Island, and races to the Solomon Islands, Tasmania, Queensland and NZ. She was custom built by Palm Beach Marine (Mark Richards of Palm Beach Motor Yachts) in the old boatshed on Illuka Road in Palm Beach and launched in 1998. The build is all composite and only the best of equipment used to complete the project including carbon fibre mast and boom. The design is modern with fin keel and lead bulb, spade rudder and modern convieniences such as electric winches and furling sails, but all in classic style above the waterline!
