Die nächsten 2 1/2 Jahre werden wir nutzen um den Pazifik zu durchqueren, den indonesischen Raum zu erkunden und letztendlich nach der Umrundung des Kap der guten Hoffnungen wieder Fuß auf europäisches Land zu setzen. The kids take on the camera. We sail in heavier weather on Santa Cruz Island. Silly Sea Creatures with Naj and Taj: The Frilled Shark. And family joins us in Marina Del Rey for a covid, social distancing, cocktail cruise.

After surviving a gnarly lightning storm at Gwynn Island, we headed North to seek shelter from brewing Hurricane Isaias. We found a spot on the Navionics app called Ingram Bay Marina. It’s known for being a great little place to tuck in to avoid bad weather. The triple-filtered diesel gas was a cherry on top! To enter Ingram Bay Marina, you have to navigate the tight opening of Towles Creek. We managed to pull in unscathed, and in reality, it wasn’t all that bad (at least on a calm day!) We had called a few days ahead to reserve our spot and the dock master, Captain Billy, obliged saying there was plenty of room for our 43’ sailing catamaran. He greeted us at the fuel deck and told us to head over to the end tie that would be our home for the next 4 days. We started to get the boat ready for the impending hurricane, which was still 2 days out from our location. So, we took advantage of the nice weather - the calm before the storm - and borrowed the marina car to head to a nearby winery. Turns out, there are 4 wineries in close proximity to the marina. We visited 2 during our stay, but Jacee Winery was by far our favorite. The staff was friendly and accommodating; we even got a tour of the wine production area which boasted a casket in the corner. You’ll never guess who’s inside! When the hurricane finally made an appearance, it had calmed down and was downgraded to a tropical storm. Still, 40 knot winds are not to be taken lightly. With the winds coming from the east, we ran the real risk of our boat slamming into the dock of which we were tied up only on the starboard side. The Captain hauled out a spare anchor, affixed it to our port side, and used the dinghy to drop it in the creek…hopeful that the opposition would help prevent the boat from slamming into the dock (along with our fenders, of course!) We kept a watchful eye on the radar and the activity outside, and the storm passed within 4 hours. While it left some debris around the marina, it wasn’t enough to stop Captain Billy from hosting a party for his marina guests. We enjoyed crab, Spanish Mackerel, and Ingram Bay Oysters…all caught by the Captain himself! The next day Captain Billy and his wife, Mary, invited us along for a very special mission. Their son had been working aboard a marine cable-laying ship called the Global Sentinel. He had been gone for 82 days, and his ship happened to be passing through Ingram Bay that day. We captured their touching reunion at sea and hope you’ll stick around to the end to watch! Veleiros são máquinas muito antigas. Foram usados como meio de transporte, comunicação, carga. Também serviram à exploração de novos continentes, novas terras, novo mundo. São veículos rústicos, simples e confiáveis. Movem-se pelo vento, essa força misteriosa que não se vê nem muito menos se controla. Muitos propósitos foram realizados através de veleiros. Dizem que histórias de veleiros são muito saborosas, pois transmitem uma sensação de liberdade, de poder mover-se a qualquer lado do mundo através dos oceanos. Eu não comprei o veleiro. Ele não me pertence. Entrou na minha vida para servir a um propósito único: moldar-me. Mostrar-me que nada neste mundo pode ser feito para satisfazer o coração humano. Coisas humanas são sujeitas a todo tipo de deterioração, e o veleiro já navegou por todo o Brasil vendo essa degradação. O homem escolhe o  consumismo, o distanciamento entre sí, o desequilíbrio, a ganância. Busca uma segurança pessoal, algo que o isole das preocupações e que lhe dê paz. O AmarSemFim é a proteção da minha família. É a paz. É abrigo. É liberdade. É segurança. É forte. Me acolhe quando estou com medo. Me dá solução quando preciso. Me molda. Sailing ORIZON - Segeln im Mittelmeer... Nach einer Nacht vor Anker in der Lagune geht es an der italienischen Adriaküste entlang Richtung Süden. Es hat null Wind also muss der Diesel herhalten. Nach über 50 nm steuern wir das hübsche Chioggia in der Lagune von Venedig an. Es folgt ein weiterer langer Schlag ohne Wind nach Rimini. Als wir ein paar gewittrige Tage später in Rimini ablegen steht ein guter Nordost und wir kommen schnell voran... aber wohin wissen wir noch nicht so recht, auf eine weitere Nacht in einer Marina haben wir jedenfalls keine Lust. Unser Versuch an einem Ankerplatz für die Nacht scheitert, da es dort zuviel Schwell hat, also segeln wir weiter. Wind und Wellen nehmen über Nacht gehörig zu und wir überlegen ob wir die Isole Tremiti bei diesen Bedingungen zum Ankern ansteuern sollen... ++++++++++++++++++++++++ After a night at anchor in the lagoon, we head south along the Italian Adriatic coast. There is no wind so the diesel has to serve. After more than 50 nm we head for the pretty Chioggia in the lagoon of Venice. Another long stroke with no wind to Rimini follows. When we cast off in Rimini a few thunderstorm days later, there is a good north-east and we are making fast progress ... but where we don't really know yet, we don't feel like spending another night in a marina. Our attempt at an anchorage for the night fails because there is too much swell there, so we sail on. Wind and waves increase significantly overnight and we consider whether we should head for the Isole Tremiti to anchor in these conditions ...
