The reality of leaving Antibes starts to kick in and we start saying goodbye to land life as we finish up getting the boat fully ready to set sail. My Mirage 28 was very slow on the way from Waterford Marina to Youghal were my mooring is. it too 30% longer to get to Youghal. I noticed the improvement immediately. i only anti fouled one side so it will interesting so look at it next season after the winter in the marina. We pilots want to fly. But not necessarily as passengers. However, once in a while we have to proceed from airport A to airport B, from where we start our duty. Today we fly from Palma to Stuttgart, where we will take an empty aircraft and fly it to Berlin. Empty, because we won't have any passengers. We call it ferry flight. This sector is a very short one, only 45-50 mins. We will get rewarded with a beautiful approach and probably the best pizza ever after landing.

Karen had her new yellow bikini. Went out to the islands on our Catalina 42, wanted to test the patch on our dinghy and get some drone shots. Unfortunately, on the way out the dinghy went limp. We were disappointed since flying our drone was not an option. It could have been flown off the boat, but since we already lost one in the drink decided that was not a good idea. The day was still great with good winds. Any time we hit well over 7kts under sail it’s a good day. Flying the main and 135% jib there were a few gusts that tried to overpower the boat. Cakewalk is stiff enough that 18kts wasn’t too much for her to handle even when leaning 22 degrees. There were some fishing surprises. Steve caught two striped bass but they were too small to keep. Karen worked on getting rid of tan lines and showed off her tiny tat. As usual did some dancing. Thank you to our subscribers! We appreciate your support! The sailboat cruising lifestyle is often described as a dream and in a great many ways, it is. What we gain in freedom however, we give up in convenience. So when mail time comes, it’s usually a build up of 6 months worth of of packages and two very excited humans… and today the postman’s arrived. We eagerly raced over to the town of St Georges in Grenada to collect our long awaited packages. After navigating some bureaucratic hoops we were finally able to do our unboxing. Sadly we couldn't collect it all in one go so we headed over to one of our favourite spots nearby, Morne Rouge to kill a few days enjoying the sunshine (and the rain) and the warm, clean water. Finally our second package arrived which contained 80 pounds of rigging! for Adam to haul to the dinghy and back to the boat. We take the train North and go for a king walk on the beach to Caminha, a rather nice small village. We then move in the fog to Póvoa de Varzim. The Marina in Póvoa is absolutely great and it’s just 30 minutes away on the train from Porto. So, we chose to stay there a few days and take the train to Porto instead of paying much more in a Marina in Douro River-Porto. James Harayda & Dee Caffari, racing Sun Fast 3300 Gentoo, have won the second race of the RORC IRC Two-Handed Autumn Series. Gentoo took line honours in the 128nm race as well as the win on IRC corrected time. Richard Palmer’s JPK 10.10 Jangada, raced by Jeremy Waitt and Shirley Robertson, was second, less than five minutes ahead of Sun Fast 3200 Cora, raced by Tim Goodhew & Kelvin Matthews. The overnight race was held in blustery conditions with about 25 knots from the north to north west. The RORC Race Committee set a course taking in all points of sail and requiring strategic decisions, especially with regards to tidal current and also for wind shadow on the southside of the Isle of Wight. Undoubtedly the best start was made by Nicola Simper’s S&S 34 Blueberry, starting the race at full pace at the Squadron Line. The RORC fleet headed as far west as East Shambles buoy with Outer Nab 2 forming the most easterly point of the course. After a night of hard racing south of the island, the fleet hankered down for a beat back into the Eastern Solent to finish in the early hours of the morning. James Harayda is just 22-year-old and racing Gentoo with Dee Caffari who has sailed around the world six times. Dee is the first woman to have sailed single-handed and non-stop around the world in both directions. Harayda & Caffari have their sights set on representing Great Britain in the Two Person Offshore Keelboat Event for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. “You forget who you're sailing with very quickly, Dee doesn't come with an ego despite having achieved such amazing things,” commented James Harayda. “It's a really nice dynamic on board, Dee brings a huge amount of experience that I haven't had, I think our skills complement each other quite nicely.” The Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Two-Handed Autumn Series comes to a conclusion with the last race scheduled to start on Saturday 10th October. An unexpected opportunity came our way when Greece was declared a green country and flights resumed.  Dudi from Viamaris sailing club built a plan to sail in the Cyclades islands so, we decided to join. rapidly get ourselves for Corona tests 24 before the flight, filling out forms from the Greek government, filling out a medical condition for Israel Finally, we are at Ben Gurion Airport with masks at any given moment. Of course in Athens we needed to have another test followed by a stay at the hotel for 24 hours, a kind of isolation.
