Nachdem wir über Borkum und Delfzijl in den Niederlanden die Ems rauf gesegelt waren, kamen wir schließlich in Emden an. Unser dreiwöchiger Segeltörn über die Nordsee von Wedel bei Hamburg zunächst die Elbe runter bis in unseren neuen Heimathafen Emden in Ostfriesland sollte also zu Ende gehen. Aber nicht ohne noch eine unangenehme Überraschung für uns bereit zu halten! Wir hatten einen Liegeplatz in der kleinen Marina Emden im Emder Binnenhafen gebucht, aber da war offenbar etwas schief gelaufen. Also musste Segelyacht Mystra zunächst an einem benachbarten Steg festmachen... dann musste noch ein Liegeplatz für die letzten 5 Wochen bis zum Krantermin organisiert werden - und das innerhalb von 24 Stunden, da wir am nächsten Tag abgeholt werden sollten! Zum Glück konnten wir aber noch einen Liegeplatz beim Emder Yachtclub ergattern und mussten Mystra nur wieder durch die Nesserlander Schleuse in den Außenhafen bringen. Ein paar Wochen später ging es dann zurück nach Emden, um Mystra ins Winterlager zu kranen und Winterfest zu machen. Dieses Video ist die zweite Version unserer Ankunft in Emden. A gente tentou ficar em paz, em Secret Harbour, mas a vida em Woburn pulsa e nos fazia vir quase toda noite de bote pra cá. Então já estava na hora de levantar a âncora e mudar de uma vez pra Woburn. A gente chegou de leve, para uma noite de quinta-feira no Nirmords, mas acabamos aproveitando que estávamos por aqui e topamos fazer programas mais familiares com os amigos que tem filhos, tipo um cineminha para crianças no navio da Le Phare Blue. Sempre bom mudar de ares, em especial porque a poita onde estávamos era muito, muito quente, no fundo da baía, então quando viemos para cá era só alegria sentir o ventinho fazer nosso eólico gerar amperes.

Et même s'il nous a fait faire des sauts d'humeur avec son vieux moteur et son démarreur qui brûlait tout le temps, il nous a mené à bon port à chaque fois. C'est le bateau familiale d'Eloi, et moi, c'est ma première maison en tant qu'adulte. Ce bateau est rempli de souvenirs, d'amour, et d'apprentissages. Il a lui aussi grandit à travers toutes les améliorations qu'Eloi lui a apporté, il est même en bien meilleur état que lorsque nous sommes partis. In honor of what would have been opening week of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 2020 (canceled due to COVID), several Northern California Hot Air Balloon Pilots assembled in Lincoln, CA for a smaller socially-distant fiesta of sorts. We have been at San Pedro for 3 days now & had to prepare & lock down the boat for an incoming force 11 storm.🌴🌵☀️🌊🌊🌊🌊⛵🌬️🌬️🌬️🌬️ Armed with 30M of chain & a 20kg Rocna anchor at a depth of 5.6m sand bottom. Plus we managed to get to shore and have a better look around.

What WAS that? One of our worst nightmares lined up, unpredicted and sneaky. As we were enjoying the calmest and hottest day in West Palm yet - after a failed attempt to leave and a false alarm - we quickly got out of relax mode, as the heaviest weather we have ever been in came in so quickly, we had no time to prepare! After such a glorious first week the following week was looking much worse, with thunderstorms and strong winds forecast. So with this in mind we decided to cut the cruise short, head home and maybe spend some time out and about on the Medway when the weather allowed. On the way back, we motor sail, practice a few man overboard drills (picking up mylar balloons, and see some marine life.

Liapari island is the foremost working boat yard in the Solomons, with plans to build an airstrip and a modern resort. Long time no see Youtube! :) We have been missing you a bunch during the time that we didn’t really post new videos, and we are excited to be back. The truth is that past the initial burst of joy I felt upon returning to a land-based life, the reality of our unexpected life change hit me harder than I thought it would (not to mention the after-effects of 3 months of confinement onboard and the minor trauma that it caused). My weapon of choice to battle anxiety? Filling the huge gap that leaving our boat left in my soul with an unreasonable amount of WORK. And for a few months, looking at any of the photos or footage of our sailing adventure felt painful. I know that it sounds a little dramatic, but it took me a while to figure out why something that had brought me so much joy over the last 2 years had turned into a source of anxiety. Although we were due for a little break on land, we were not ready to reconsider our entire adventure. As of now, getting back to our boat is logistically very complicated and frankly a bit risky. Where we go next is not even on the table at this point, as the situation of international travel hasn’t changed much since we left. I know that a lot of you turn to our videos and photos for entertainment and maybe to cheer you up in times you may yourself feel a little blue, and although I picked up the camera a few times over the last few months, I didn’t want to project my 2020 blues onto you. But we are feeling better these days, and ready to not let the rest of 2020 beat ourselves. Sweden is a great place to be these days, and I found a lot of comfort in reconnecting with Swedish nature (after I stopped working like a maniac) And I am making videos again! Tour of the Precision 18's interior. The cabin features a V-berth with removable cushion, 2 quarter berths (port and starboard), large Bomar forward hatch, 4 opening Lewmar size 0 portlights, integrated Igloo cooler with teak step, carpeted headliner and standard electrical panel. Unlike many small sailboats, the Precision 18 cabin is very open thanks to the centerboard being completely housed in the the shoal draft keel and the mounting of the mast on a bulkhead.

Regardless of our negative Covid-19 tests, all passengers from the #repatriation flight are being treated and held in quarantine as if we have the virus.  It feels extreme but we also understand.  Viruses on these small, underdeveloped, and very remote islands are devastating.  So, the Tongan Government is taking every precaution...and then some. We’ve landed on the main island of Nuku'alofa where we’ll stay for our 21 days of government monitored quarantine.  Then we catch a cargo ship to Vava’u Tonga to see Curiosity for the first time in a year!  I still have to pinch myself every time I say it because it seems too good to be true:  We're Finally Home! In today's sailing vlog, a Lagoon 42 hits the ground while entering the channel of Deltaville, VA. It's every sailor's nightmare to run aground, it's simply a sailing disaster! Luckily, just seconds from disaster 3 dinghies jumped to the rescue, and we were truly glad to hear that the catamaran made out safely.
