In this extra special episode, we bring a little twist to our usual uploads, it’s about what it’s like here in Greek winter when the tourists have gone…. Have you ever wondered what it’s like in the colder months and would you be surprised to learn that despite the sun still gracing the waters edge - the mountains become capped with snow, life takes a sleepier step back, and locals emerge from their tourist time-out as cultural traditions and religious ceremonies become forefront. It’s still entirely possible to sail year round in the Ionian but having a port or marina nearby is common place as storms take on a more ferocious nature & running for cover soon becomes a common occurrence After one such patch of feeling generally ‘weathered’ by the elements we moored up in lefkada and decided to take a time out for a special occasion…which included a road trip adventure to the mountains which boast ski resorts, inland caves & beautiful lakes where wildlife flourishes… we also enjoyed a needed dose of luxury in Ioannina and famous Metzovo because well - we worked hard to create a lifestyle so that if we ever need to jump ship - we can! In this sailing episode, we give you a quick recap on boat life in Vasiliki before preparing to set sail to our next destination - Fiskardo. As you know It's never plain sailing with us! Hi Guys in this we sailing episode, we start off in Lefkas Town where we are waiting for a vital engine part to finally let us set sail again...we took this chance to explore Ayia Mavra castle and enjoy the beautiful quaint Lefkas old town...Ross finally fixes up the engine and it's time to test it out and go sailing - with a storm on the horizon no less! We eventually land back in Tranquil Bay to shelter from the oncoming weather but we are hit by another boat and ask ourselves 'is there safety in numbers or are we better of in a bigger bay on our own?'. Hi Guys - In this sailing episode, we drop anchor at Foki, which is close to Fiskardo on Kefalonia Island. We encounter all manner of mayhem with wasps, jellyfish stings and charter boat carnage! It’s not all doom and gloom though as we also had some amazing underwater sea-scooter swims & enjoyed stunning coastal walks to Fiskardo with its picturesque lighthouse. After that we point the compass north and sail up to Lefkada Island, Laura enjoys a bit of freedom time her favourite way "in the nude" before we drop the hook in Nydri at what was arguably one of the busiest bays we’ve ever seen! In this sailing episode, we dart about to many super sailing destinations on the island of Zakynthos and Kefalonia. We spend a lot of our time underwater, exploring the crystal clear waters, reefs and sea caves using Ross's "new toy" the Sublue Vapor aka the Ferrari of the ocean! Laura wasn't able to wear her bikini as this thing would have ripped it off! So she went 007 style in a one-piece like a girl from a James Bond movie - move over superyachts! Life in paradise is not always easy here in greece, as there may be perfect beaches and sexy diving on these islands but there is also plenty of swell! This put us in some uncomfortable situations but luckily for us our ground tackle was up to the task. We visited Tsilivi, Xigia, Agios Nicolaos, Skala and Poros all of which are fantastic spots and have their own individual things to see and do. Also Ross get his tools out and fixes some broken Bavaria items on our yacht that we ordered from SVB including a new shower head for Laura to test out!
