Bluewater SAILING passage Majuro to Ailuk Atoll SAILING the Marshall Islands Two nights to Ailuk Atoll This week we leave Majuro and travel 240 miles north to Ailuk Atoll, in what we think is a good weather window. It turns out that we time it perfectly so that we have to dodge squalls that come across every hour or so! Mark and Angie from 'Uno Mas' were about five to ten miles in front of us and missed just about every squall, so if we had started our trip an hour earlier we would have had a much smoother trip! Once in the shelter of Aur and Maloelap atolls we have some lovely sailing and the squalls lessen as we near Ailuk. After waiting for good light we negotiate the reef pass and drop the hook in front of Ailuk Village on the South east side of the atoll. We celebrate with an early night after a very tiring two days! We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you. In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second. We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel! So far, our sailing life has been pretty tame. The weather has been predictable and we’ve sailed mostly when it's been calm. Mallorca teaches us not to rest on our laurels as we face surprise katabatic winds and beat into 25 knots all in the same day. This week’s episode gives a glimpse in to how we handle Talia when the wind picks up and also what to expect if you’re sailing around Mallorca. We visit the beautiful villages of Andratx and Sóller as we prepare to island-hop again to Menorca. Thanks so much for watching! While helping my neighbor Denis scale his mast I find out that he was one of the boats which had been attacked--or toyed with--by a pod of orca whales located on the northwest corner of Spain. Several yachts had encountered these whales and sustained extensive rudder damage, some had to call for a tow into safe harbor. Denis however worked out a method for dealing with these whales, and sustained no damage. On Monday, Sept. 28, I weigh anchor and set off for the Canary Islands, some 800 miles away. The BEST Cruising Boat needs to be fast, safe, comfortable, and stylish. Did we find that in an Amel Super Maramu? Henry Amel is a designer famous for making capable and safe cruising boats and yachts. His designs are timeless and efficient, with everything conceptualized around the notion that a couple could sail around the world with ease on one of his sailboats. Conveniences such as powerfurl diesel motors, generators, bow thrusters, air conditionings, dish washers, clothes washers, and everything else you could imagine has been engineered to fit and work well on this boat. Does that make it the best cruising boat? We will show you what works, what doesn't work, and what makes these boats so special! Sometimes you have to move anchorages JUST to get supplies. A lot of these smaller islands in The Grenadines don’t have everything you need, especially when it comes to getting boat parts. So that means we have to raise anchor and head to another island FIVE HOURS away to get some things we need. Boy things are different on the water than on land. Before you could just jump in your car and within 20 minutes find everything you need! Also, it takes A LOT LONGER when the wind dies on you and the current is going OUT when your trying to go IN. On this episode of WE|Sail, we have reached two weeks at sea sailing up the Pacific Coast of Mexico from Costa Rica. We thought for sure that this was just at our half way mark of reaching our destination, until we received a weather report predicting zero wind for the next week. 69 What did that mean for us? Well, we were just getting into the groove of things, the rock and sway of the boat. Enjoying our days from sun up to sun down, reading, playing games, learning new hobbies and eagerly waiting for a cold tasty margarita when we reach land. Things were not so bad at sea, in fact we were happier here than we probably would be on land, especially during the COVID lockdown. However, no wind for the next week meant that we were going to be becalmed again, and that our estimated time to arrive to Cabo would be an additional two weeks. SO... as captain of the boat, Warren made a decision to turn towards the closest land instead of Cabo. Before we make landfall, we experience a couple squalls, gales after a few days of zero to no wind and start re-evaluating what our route will be next! Thank you for watching the Adventures of WE! After Declan’s faux pas of the previous night (episode 71) which left us bringing up the rear, it was all go for the final 24 hours before we hit the coast of Australia. The wind falls our of our sails but there is something in the water. The marine life takes our pain away when a series of ocean dwellers come to visit., hitting our empathy button when we chose to continue our catch and release programme so as not to separate a mating pair of Mahimahi. Before you can say “Jack Robinson” the wind fills our sails and we are off chasing down our two companion yachts to a nail-biting finish. Just who wins is anyone’s guess. In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill #NeverStopWanderingNeverStopWondering. #TheCruisingKiwis

During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time. It can feel lonely, left out & down right depressing just going through our daily routines & catching any spare time the kids would have for us. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans. Our lives took a different direction after this, which allowed us to grab a lifetime dream that we didn’t think was ever possible but in reality, it was. Please join two boomers as we embark on our new chapter & how we manage life & family from our MacIntosh 47’ sailboat heading home to Australia.
We revisited Lunenburg as It was decided that for the upcoming winter the boat be anchoraged there. Another issue at hand was that we were in a harm's way as the hurricane Teddy was making its way up North. So we were to take shelter in Lunenburg harbour again. Before Hurricane Teddy Denis and I spent half a day touring the streets of this lovely small town and visiting the waterfront ... Under the supervision of our captain Sergey we prepared the boat for the hurricane and for the winter (removing both - main sail & genoya, etc ... ) Two days after hurricane Teddy was gone, Denis and I went back to Halifax and Sergey stayed on the boat for one more day ... ===================== ABOUT ME Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5 type guy anymore. I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen boat related forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. ==================================== Ничего вам не продаю. Ничего у Bас не покупаю. Снимаю для души и от души! I'm not selling you anything. I am not buying anything from you either. I shoot video for the soul and from the heart! No te vendo nada. No te compro nada.

"Fair winds, clear skies and following seas." BREXIT. The UK leaving the EU at the end of December 2020 is something much on our minds. And that of our clients - for many reasons. One that is very important to us is 'What will happen to UK yachts relative to their VAT status?' Will they be VAT paid? Exempt? Will VAT be due again? For this year's Yacht Market Report 2020 we brought in the big guns. And so Simon Anslow, of PKF Francis Clark wrote for us. And this is what he had to say.
